What a PLEASURE it was to stop at the Halfway Cafe on our way to SF via the Pacific Coast. We arrived 30 min before close and were greeted with warmth and welcome, "Have a seat! You have plenty of time! Here's the best table in the house for A/C." We were then treated to the chef's family potato salad recipe. Please don't tell me what's in it. I want to have to come back.

I stop at this cafe 2 times a month as we use it as a half way meeting spot to exchange kids. The food is decent the coffee is hot and the pastries are a tasty snack. However on more then one occasion I have asked to use the restroom which is for customers only (no sweat I’m happy to buy a small snack) but almost always I am treated as this request is a inconvenience for who ever is working. They are always short and rude. Today I decided to match that with just a little bit of kindness and you saw the persons attitude change. My review is based solely off of my customer service experience and I only hope that the owners use this as a tool to treat people better.I shouldn’t have to leave a 40% tip for the lady behind the counter to be kind and decent.

The service was friendly and fast. I had a cheeseburger and fries and it was one of the best ones I've had in a while. It was hot and freshly made. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and crisp. Just a sweet little cafe between Eugene and Florence if you're driving out to the coast. I stopped there before but haven't really eaten much of the food in the past. I would check it out if you want a little diner/cafe experience.

We've been here many times and we always leave happy! Great food, great staff. I can honestly say it's too hard to pick just one favorite menu item. Do yourself a favor and save some leftovers for home so you'll have room for dessert haha.11/6/20 - another great meal at the Cafe! Prime rib night. Yum! Come with an appetite. Portions are HUGE! Thanks guys for another great meal and great service :)

Ate outdoors on a sunny afternoon. We were a group of four. Orders taken in a timely manner. We ordered a baked potato, taco salad, and two blue cheese burgers. Service was quick, served hot, and friendly .The food was generous and delicious. We are visiting from Michigan, and will return several more times before leaving!! Love this place.

It's been our regular stop for breakfast on our way to the coast at least 2 times a month since Al and Dave opened. Sadly I agree that it's not the same since the new owners took over. It's hard to be objective because nobody in my half century of dining out has made me feel as welcome and like an old friend as Al and Dave did. But objectivity is the intent and while the prices did go up a bit, the menu is still the same. It's still reasonably/competitively priced and the food is still on par with or better than any diner in Eugene or Florence. We just miss that "love" Al and Dave added to each plate. The new owners have huge shoes to fill. However, we have taken several guests that didn't know Al and Dave and none have commented negatively on the food or the service.Al and Dave are and will be missed but change is inevitable and we intend to support local business including this one as long as we see an effort to fill those huge shoes, and so far we have.

10 minutes to 7pm on a long journey from Florence to Portland and back...OMG. The food is amazing and they have a clean establishment but the lady was so nice, it's hard to find a complaint except that Oregon hasn't opened inside dining yet and I was too cold to sit in the spacious covered area. Better bring your appetite. Hubby loves the Bacon cheeseburger and I had the Hawaiian. I couldn't get it small enough to bite the height of mine and it was NOT smothered in teriyaki...soooo delicious! Well worth the price and short wait for the food. They close at 7pm so get there before that. Don't miss this burger or you'll be sorry!

Dave and Al provided tasty meals for a very reasonable price. They provided a warm, friendly place to eat really well prepared food. They recently had to sell the business because of personal health issues, and promised to be back when able. Their last day open was 6/29/17. The new owners served breakfast on 7/1/17, and they have managed to tank the business. The food now is terrible. The friendly atmosphere gone. Do not waste your time nor money.

Food was way over priced for what my family ordered. Two half orders of biscuits and gravy, side order of bacon, a hotdog with sour krut, and two pb and j sandwiches. The total on the menu wasn't $40 and that is what the owner charged up. Been wanting to try this place for years and we will not be back. Drove 40 mins for lunch 🙄

First time, had a cheeseburger and fries, it was outstanding. Place has a warm comfortable atmosphere, service was great and prices very reasonable. When we have to travel between Florence and Eugene this is what will make it a pleasure!

Love this place! the food is amazing and the staff is always very friendly. For a "made when you order" kind of cafe, your food is ready remarkable fast. Fast food without the fast food taste. :) I highly recommend this Cafe. Stop in, you won't be disappointed!

Food was awesome. My mom ordered the chef salad it was big enough for 2 people if not more. Service was good. Nice stopping point between Florence and Eugene.

Huge portions, friendly staff, and odds and ends you may need for camping. Ask about their specials, I had the over the top delicious Benedict special, it filled my plate to the brim and was about the inches tall! We will make a point of returning next time we pass through.

I have changed my review as well from 5 to 1 star. New owners and the food and service are no where close to what Dave and Al had. I would drive across the state to eat the prior owners food. Would be hard pressed to drive across the street to eat here now.Remember folks this is not the store ... that is a whole different kettle of fish.
