I adopted a kitten from Safe Haven a couple of weeks ago. The adoption process was easy/fast and we absolutely love our Calypso. The staff were very informative and knowledgeable. Our kitten has Feline Virus, which in most cases is fatal, but Safe Haven staff provided us with all the information that I feel we need to take care of her properly. They also made sure she was spayed, vaccinated, and healthy before taking her home. Highly recommend going to look for your new companion here!

A great place to adopt your next furry friend. I fell in love with so many of the animals. In the end, I found one that was just right for me. The shelter is very nice and clean and all of the staff were very helpful.

We adopted a kitten last week. The kitten has fit into our family with teenagers and dogs nicely so far. He is adorable and already a beloved member of the family.

When looking for our new member of our family we went everywhere from Albany up to Portland every humane society and pound that we could find. This place is amazing! Everybody there absolutely loves the animals they're all helpful. The facility is clean and the animals are well taken care of. This place is hands down a good place. Also don't just think that they have dogs and cats for adoption, they also have classes, they can do birthday parties for kids, there's a lot of services they provide. If you're looking for a new member of your family, looking for a place to volunteer, or looking for a place to donate to go here.

Best shelter in the area! I really appreciate that their animals are all open to the public, which highly increases the animal’s chances of getting adopted, compared to an appointment-only shelter. The staff here are all very friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to answer any questions. I’ve adopted 4 cats from here (one sadly passed away from diabetes complications, three of them are still with me), and they have all been amazing. The staff and volunteers make sure that you’re well prepared to take your new pet home, and explain all documents thoroughly. I recently adopted two kittens here (was only planning on adopting one, but fell in love with another while I was picking up my first one after her spay) and they have quickly become great buddies! My two year old cat is slowly but surely liking them. Teryn was especially helpful and kind to me during my recent adoption :) The volunteers here are also very passionate and sweet. Thanks SafeHaven for everything you do!!

I have been coming to SafeHaven for a few years now, and have never been disappointed! The staff are always very helpful and polite, and the kennels for the animals are always clean. I adopted a cat a few weeks ago and the adoption process was very quick and smooth. I could not be happier! <3

Our family is so grateful for all of the huge hearts at Safe Haven, and the amazing care they took care of our pup before we adopted her!The facility is beautifully taken care of, and it was a thrill to see how many people came in while I was there, looking for the perfect addition to their homes too!The process was smooth, and it was really fun picking out some special items at the shop to complete our setup!I couldn’t recommend adopting from Safe Haven more, and tell everyone who asks excitedly as well. Tansy has been the best fit for our family, and Safe Haven brought her to us. Thank you a million times over!

We adopted our sweet kitty just a few months ago and we have already recommended SafeHaven to so many people. We loved working with them and appreciate the work they are doing. Adoption fees are super reasonable and with all the medical attention they give kittens we feel very comfortable adopting from them. Hopefully when we have space for some more animals we can come back to find some new furry family members.

They don't help! You have to give them WAY more information about your private life than you give to your doctor! To adopt or to surrender! They don't have a right or a need to know more than half the information they want you to provide! They would help more animals if they weren't so judgemental!

An excellent top of the line facility! Staff is friendly and helpful. We got our kitty from them. His name is Casper. He was found as a dying little kitten at Linn-Benton Community College. Safehaven got his health back. We have had him 9 years.

Took my kitty to get spayed and they were so gentle with her. Called them a few days later because she wasn’t eating and they saw her right away and no charge. She’s fine, was just being really finicky lolThank you Safe Haven!

Gorgeous place to visit and look for a fur baby, helpful services and the area very well cared for and animals are very comfortable and safe unlike other places in Salem which is a prison and you can see it , its sad. Thank you for caring for the fur babies as you do!!

We love going to Safehaven to have some dog and cat snuggles! The yard is a great place to play fetch or just give some belly rubs. Volunteering is good for us and the animals!

I got my wonderful kitty here last October. She changed my life and I am so grateful for the staff who helped me make my way to her and eventually being her into my home as part of my family. She is the sweetest cat, and was clearly very well taken care of here. They were super helpful with the adoption process!

Last New Years Eve we saw Dixie's picture and fell in love! Safe Haven was patient with us playing with her and had all her 7 years worth of medical records. We were impressed with how clean the facility was and how friendly the staff were.Thank you, Safe Haven! We love our old girl and are looking forward to our first Christmas together ❤

The staff are always amazing at safehaven. I love all of the kitties and puppies and have been through the adoption process there, they make it easy and make sure it is a good fit. They are an amazing place. The dog pictured is our dog that we got in 2017, he came from a shipment from new Mexico, from a high kill shelter. I am so glad they take in dogs from high kill shelters cause Jack is such a sweetheart

We found our sweet little man here after he was abandoned in a crate, outdoors, overnight. After breaking down some of his anxious walls, he’s become the funniest little man ever! We love him so much and he definitely makes our lives better. I highly recommend rescuing, especially from such a great place :)

Clean. Not smelly like a lot of other safe places for animals. Very helpful and friendly. Separate room to hold cats to play with them. Dogs have treats outside of kennels to reward behavior. Wish we could have taken all dogs we liked home

This place was NICE ! The staff were more than accommodating. The facility was clean and VERY sanitary . The animals are well cared for and you can tell. We got to take out these two absolutely adorable puppies to play with . An individual I support through my work really enjoyed herself and always does. You should definitely come check this place out ! C'mon !!

We adopted our girl from Safe Haven about a year ago. It was our first time hearing about this place which we were referred to and I’m so glad we did. This facility is clean and you can tell the staff absolutely care for these animals. They work with them until they are adopted. We adopted a dog who had just had puppies and Safe Haven connected us to a vet closer to us, in SE Salem where she could be spayed. She had a small complication from the spay which Safe Haven took care of. She’s been the best pet and I’d highly recommend considering them when looking to adopt.

I got my sweet boy here at the age of 2 in 2019 and he’s 5 now he was super shy, and scared, but i could tell he had a lot of love to give. I was told he had broken the bridge of his nose before i got him and he had all his vaccinations! I also got him during the peak of covid so taking him to get a checkup after adoption was hard. I figured out after a year he had stomatitis which was a bacterial infection in his mouth. It developed over time and wasn’t noticed till it got very severe. It was becoming very life threatening so he ended up getting all his teeth taken out to get rid of the infection and bacteria that was shutting his system down. Regardless of all that i am so happy i got him we are inseparable. Only advice i would give is after adopting any pet get insurance, do research on nutrition (a lot of brands lie to you) and get them a full check up as soon as possible. Shelters can only do so much they already have enough on there plate.

Clean and friendly facility. Reasonable adoption fees and promotions. Fairly easy to adopt with not a lot of extra hoops to jump through. Was easily able to view and meet the dogs. We were not able to reach anyone by phone so had to make the drive. One person was "interested" in several dogs so we had to wait quite a while to find out what was available. Would definitely recommend to a friend!

Do not adopt from Safe Haven. They lied to me when I went to adopt a dog. They said the dog was great with other dogs, and showed no aggression. However, that was not the case. They also lied to me about his age and his breed. Once I took the dog home he immediately was not what I was expecting or at all what Safe Haven had told me. He showed aggression to people and animals. I have a cat and Safe Haven told me that he should be totally fine with cats. Again, not the case. He would lunge, bark and growl at the cat through the baby gate. I put him in training to hopefully help with his aggression, but it did not work, and eventually he attacked another dog. If I would have been told he was aggressive I would not have let him near other animals. I contacted Safe Haven letting them know I needed to surrender him because of aggression, and they would not allow me to because he now has a bite history and they "need to keep the shelter a safe environment". I have only had the dog for two months and they would not help me or let me surrender him. They created this awful situation and now they won't do anything to help me.

A beautiful facility with highly committed and knowledgeable staff. It is evident that they care deeply for the animals that they care for and want to ensure that they find the best forever homes. It is immaculately clean and the staff is dedicated to providing lots of exercise and stimulation for the pets.They even host puppy yoga when they have a litter of pups about to be released from foster care! They are super responsible about this as they ensure that the pups are not yet ready to be adopted (usually about 2 weeks away) so that no one can make an impulsive decision post-yoga afer being surrounded by cuteness :)
