Waiting for them to arrive at the local feed store sucks, and you end up spending the same amount of money if not more. While I didn’t want to get 10 chicks which is their minimum order (I already have 7 and anything more than 12 is pushing it in our available space), I managed to find someone that wanted 5 of them. On their website, you can choose the date your babies are hatched and they’ll be shipped the same day! If you’re local to the PNW, you might get them next day like I did with FREE SHIPPING. They are all in great health and were shipped with care by the company!

We recently purchased 12 hatching eggs of Barred Rock and was sent 13. Two were broken when we received them. After incubating 11 eggs we had one hatch. After candling then we found that half of them weren’t fertilized. Very disappointed!

OUTSTANDING QUALITY BIRDS! I ordered 60 chicks that arrived happy and healthy with no problems. Jenks even included an extra 2 chickens as insurance during the shipping process. My order was received on time and 8 weeks later all 62 birds are still alive and doing wonderfully! We processed 60 of them this afternoon with the average weight being a little over 5lbs dressed. We are extremely satisfied with Jenks hatchery and I strongly urge anyone looking for top quality birds to order here first. They even had the best prices when we first researched hatcheries back in June. Stop wondering, start ordering. This is my first time raising fryers and I’ll definitely be ordering from them again.

Supremely happy!I've raised chickens since the 1970s, and have never found a better brown egg-layer than the Jenks novogens I bought last fall.Early maturing (started laying at 18 weeks); mine are producing extra large eggs, heck, they even lay earlier in the day than my other breeds. Just received another order of novogen whites and novogen browns, so I can cull the poorer layers out of the flock in a few months.These are truly superior birds; Jenks offers healthy chicks and responsive customer service. Best hatchery in the USA.

Great experience! First time buying raising chickens, Jenks answered our many questions before and after we placed our order. We did a Frypan special and 10 hens. We loved being able to pick them up on their hatch day and every single chick is still alive an healthy, event one we thought was a runt. We will absolutely purchase again!

Not so good. I have experience with other sources of the Freedom Ranger pasture raised breed from France. Very disappointed. No where near as healthy and not really ready and wanting to pasture. I experienced too significant range of sizes and feathering patterns are problematic for pasture birds. I am wondering why these qualify as Freedom Rangers? I have lost 12 so far to wierd failure to thrive body conditions. I use complete feed .

We have a couple thousand chicks from Jenks delivered over the summer to our farm, and after several years I can attest to the fact that they all arrive healthy and energetic. Big fans of the Novogen Brown and Colorpack variety laying hens we got from them, as well as their Cornish Cross meat birds. Thanks for all that you do, Jenks!

This is my third order of meat birds (Cornish Cross) from Jenk's. I used to order from a big hatchery in the mid-west with a beautiful slick catalog that came every year. When I learned about Jenks, I thought I'd give them a try since they are so much closer in proximity to where I live. I have been happy ever since. The chicks are healthy and robust. Jenks sends a little water and feed in the box so these guys are rearing' to go on arrival! The birds do what they're supposed to: eat, drink, poop, sleep and GROW! They are all doing very well. They're healthy and I don't have the mortality rate with these birds as I did with the other company. Also their legs don't get so weak that they can barely hold themselves up, as I had with the other company. In the the second picture I've included, the chickens have access to an outdoor run 24/7. It happened to be cool this day so they were inside, enjoying the heat lamp. So, I'm just an all-around happy customer and Jenks deserves to hear "well done"!

I don't write reviews but I needed to after my experience with jenks hatchery. This was the best experience that I have had with a hatchery ever. They were very helpful with any questions before I ordered and when I got the chicks in Alaska they all where great and healthy. I ordered 30 Cornish and 25 novegens. Got 32 Cornish and just butchered 31 of them averaging 6.9# at 7 1/2 weeks. I will be ordering more next year and telling others about this hatchery.Thanks jenksJonas

The most important aspect of a long distance transaction is TRUST. I learned that I can trust JENKS to be fair and responsive. We lost some chicks in our batch due to the SLOW Postal Service, which used to come to Hawaii in a day or two but now takes THREE DAYS. So that is not Jenks fault. They credited me for the loss. I just got my FIRST EGG from their hen, which is not in the pic, She went back to the nest to lay more eggs, and has laid one beautiful jade green egg per day since she started! She is only 4 months and 3 weeks old, and already laying gem-like eggs.Very grateful to JENKS and trust them to treat me fairly and like family!

We are hooked on the novogen day old chicks. Extremely easy to keep alive and they become laying machines at 5 months. They are so friendly and docile, they take to pasture well and stay where we put them. If only all chickens were this easy to raise. The last batch we got from them 153 out of 153 birds made it. All chicks were females zero roos. This batch hatched in the beginning of October. Additionally the over hatch list is a great resource for inexpensive quality birds. We are lucky to have them in our backyard, they are a great hatchery also the nation’s oldest.
