Have never seen a pet store with more variety of reptiles and insects! Super cool selection, and all the animals seem to be very well taken care of. They even have a selection of live plants, which I enjoyed. Only reason for 4 stars is the small selection of dog/cat items (seems much more like a reptile/exotic specific place), and we had trouble finding any prices on dog items. The staff definitely seem knowledgeable and friendly, but seemed more occupied hanging out with each other. Otherwise, really great store for exotic enthusiasts!

I really like this place! They have a fantastic reptile and invertebrate selection and you can tell that the people working here care about reptiles. There's supplies for other types of pets as well, but this place really stands out as an awesome store for reptile enthusiasts. They ARE a "pet store" in that they sell some different species of reptiles, but the husbandry and care of all of their reptiles is outstanding, with some of them even being permanent residents of the store :)

I have a 29 year old autistic daughter. Who loves that store!! We went there yesterday due to the rats we previously purchased grew to quick to feed our boy. The guy was going to just give us a credit for two more rats. That was awesome. I did refuse the credit. I explained it was my own fault for buying to many rays to soon. I just didn't want to turn them loose or keep them. I must say I was happy he took them. I had a concern on temp of the enclosure and he walked me through it. Suggested we start with a thermometer before purchasing extra heating equipment. Shows they aren't into overselling, just to make money. And oh this man was so great with my daughter. They continued talking snake anatomy till I told my daughter we need to leave. Lol. We could get items closer to home. We live almost a hour south. But we love that store!#!

I love going in here. They always answer any questions I have and put up with my worry wort repetitiveness. Super knowledgeable and friendly people. And I always leave with more stuff than I came in for :)

I got told that they can't divide the crickets up into 1 dozen per bag because the owner says so and was treated like I was wrong to ask for that. Ordered a 1000 worms and it took like 3 weeks to get and that was back in July last year. I'm done with this place. I guess they don't want to make the customers happy!

great selection of isopods. this location is frequently out of stock on my preferred substrates but the prices are decent, the staff are friendly, and I hate the big box stores so I’d rather shop here any day.

Very awesome pet store. Mainly reptiles... Beautiful snakes, lizards, frogs, and they have spiders and cockroaches. They sell dog food and cat food, toys, and aquariums, terrain.. etc. Oh and feeder mice, rats, rabbits. Highly recommend!!

The service was good and they got everything done quickly but the box we got our leapord gecko in to take home was disgusting and I didn't even notice until hours after I got home, this is so gross and makes me feel bad for any animal put in these conditions for any amount of time, this makes me so angry that they would abuse animals like this, please check what the inside of the box looks like before you take a pet home from here, I just hope my leapord gecko didn't get sick from this.I hate leaving reviews like this but this is unacceptable.

Won't go backWe went in and my 11yr old asked to purchase rats as pets. The guy immediately blew up and started hollering about that being against policy, how it would cost his job, etc. The response was over the top for any interaction with a child but unnecessary as we didn't ask him to violate policy, he just immediately started raising his voice and ranting about it. My son was pretty scared after this and we won't go back in there for anything

I love Hometown Pets. The owners and staff are all very friendly, knowledgeable and ready to fill any order! Even special ordering products I can't find anywhere else. The new location is coming along great. Very excited to have a new store just 3 minutes away, though I happily drove to Eugene and will continue to I'm sure.

I went in for Porcellio scaber "orange koi". When I got there I found 2 culture's. Luckily I opened the container and inspected them. I actually found all orange scaber. None had any other coloring. The store called the guy that handles the isopods. He stated that they are Porcellio scaber "High orange koi". Upon further investigation, there is nothing about high orange koi and those would be Porcellio scaber "orange". I would think that when your selling animals you would be able to make sure your selling the right species to your customers.

My go to for anything reptile!! Super knowable!! Friendly staff! The pets I get from here are always super healthy and seem to be extremely happy. They have been able to answer any questions I have regarding my snakes or lizards. The dog section is pretty well stocked up as well!

If you've been to other reptile specific shops, this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. The snakes are locally bred, and th breeder works here, so you have an excellent resource for general care and specific snakes behavior. They also have frozen rats and mice of varied and clearly labeled sizes. This is my favorite pet shop that isn't fish centric.

Staff is knowledgeable and product is top quality whether it be supplies or pets. However, the store struggles to keep food in stock to feed any of your reptiles that you purchase there. Great business, but could be better by insuring they have a reliable stock of food for the pets they sell. My coworkers, friends, and myself are all struggling to now find a reliable/affordable option to feed our pets purchased here. Also spent the past 2 weeks calling every single hour on their delivery days to know when rats were in stock. Only to have them arrive and vanish instantly between calls.

The people are always super nice and they have a good selection of reptiles and all the accessories needed to keep them happy and healthy, including a variety of feeder insects. They also have supplies for cats and dogs, including good quality food. There are a couple cats in the shop that are sweethearts too.

They run their business so incredibly professional it's mind-blowing, because that's something you hardly ever see anymore. This is definitely one of those places you want to support

Went to purchase some Cubaris "red edge". The store is so packed i feel like I'm at a horders house. Then there are 2 prices for the ispods. 6 for $60 or 10 for $60. I pick up the 10 count and only count 4. When I bring it up to the person working. He says that they have been there the longest and they may have buried. Offers no help or other options.

As a ball Python Hobbyist, they have A LOT of what I need to keep my snakes healthy and happy. Great feeder selection, husbandry, and snakes you can pick up to help further your own projects! It's always fun to come in and talk to someone who is also working on their own projects when it comes to BP's.

These people are the bees knees, definitely the place to go for any reptile/amphibian knowledge and advice in Springfield. To first time reptile owners, this is a great starting place. They are very compassionate and kind and just want the best for your little (or sometimes big) buddy :)

Been going here for over a year now. Always super helpful and friendly whenever we go in! I had some questions about my snakes today and Trevor was exceptionally kind to give me suggestions on upgrading my snake habitats. Never have had a problem with this store. Highly recommended!

I had never heard of nor have I ever been inside of the store until today. The gal that welcomed me was so super friendly! I had rescued a pet turtle from just being let go into the wild, and I didn't know anything about it. But gal that was there helped me so much. She Google lensed the turtle and we found out it's actually a tortoise, and then she went on to explain to me exactly how I needed to care for the tortoise. My experience there was so amazing and all of their reptiles are so super adorable, I highly recommend this place to anybody. And I will be going back for the rest of the items that I need and couldn't purchase today. Thank you!

Meh, I like the prices & petting the roaming cats. That's all I really have to say about this place. I prefer to take my buisness elsewhere if I can nowadays, they seem more about profit then the animals these days.Update: The owner replied asking for information so here is what I've noticed1) the cats are unfixed free roaming at the Hometown Pets in Springfield. One is male and one is female. I don't think that’s something a “rescue” would do?2) the way the enclosures are put together for the animals that are on the shelves is incredibly cheap, it makes me concerned incredibly for those that reside in them.3) I’ve seen “management” talk poorly to and about to staff. They're condescending & disrespectful from what I've seen to their employees. I don't know about every other person however I prefer to shop at & support buisnesses that support people.4) The rediculous amount of outdated or unrelated products…like superhero merch? I do understand the cost of inventory has gone up but how would you know, you haven't updated anything & you're selling things unrelated?5) A good friend of mine that I work with taking in animals in temporarily w/ got reptile mites from the store & they spread nearly entirely to every other reptile they owned, a very vast collection.

The counter person was nice & quite knowledgeable about everything. Such a relief to know that I don't have to go over to the other store at Santa Clara Square!! Will definitely be back!!The counter guy knew exactly what I was talking about with regards to a particular parrot food, which unfortunately they didn't have available. They suggested another store that I was unaware of before that might have the brand of food I was looking for.

I now work for these guys but I would come in several times a week for my pet supplies. They always have a great selection of reptiles and anything you need for them. Small animals, cats, dogs, fish and other exotic pets are not to be forgotten as they have practically everything you need

I came in seeking advice about a bearded dragon that my daughter will be getting soon. The people working were so friendly and knowledgeable about not just beardies but also all the other interesting critters they have there. I will for sure be recommending hometown pets to others.
