We found or got to know about Dr. Dietrich a view years ago when we had 3 cows. We had no experience, but raised them for beef. One of them started acting strange and stopped eating and drinking and just laid down on the ground. I called several Vet Clinics and no one would come to help us to figure out what was going on. I had checked the temp and it was slightly over 104°F. I called Dr Dietrich's office and he came, diagnosed Pneumonia and treated the ill cow and checked the other two as well and treated them, having to chase them in the pasture, b/c they wouldn't have it getting checked out.This early morning our Little Yorkie decided to have her first time puppies. Of course it is Saturday. All animals we have or had seems to choose either after hour times or the weekend for problems. But when we took Lilly to Dr Dietich's office about 3wks ago, not only didn't he charge us an arm and leg for the Ultrasound, like all the other Vet clinics would have, but he also gave me valuable advice how and what to look for getting closer to birth. He saw 3 pups in the US and said if we had any problems, we could call he'd be there to help. Well, the birth day came, the birth was progressing and I saw 2 feet and became worried. In fear that could be abnormal and b/c Lilly being so small, I decided to call Dr. Dietrich, left a voicemail as instructed and he called back shortly after. I received instructions and he said if no progress in 20min, to call back and he would help us. We didn't have to call him back, but I was glad he was available to talk to and put me more at ease. The puppies were born with little assistance and are well. I would recommend Dr Dietrich for sure to anyone.

Doctor Dietrich is very knowledgeable , compassionate, charges reasonable rates. Without him in our community there would be a whole lot of animals in needless pain and suffering. We are a small town and he is greatly needed

Took my baby pig in to be neutered and had a great experience that began with the initial call.Not many vets are familiar with mini pigs so it's hard to find someone who will work with them, and Scio vet does, so that's a bonus right there..The first call to schedule his visit was answered and dealt with by a very sweet lady who made sure to get my pig scheduled on a day that worked for me.The experience was wonderful. I got out of the car and had a toddler and pig to get into the clinic, and one of the ladies who worked there was passing to go in and offered to take the pig in the carrier inside for me, as she saw how full my hands were. Then the receptionist and assistants in the clinic were beyond friendly, so I didn't feel worried about leaving ziggy there at all.The procedure was fast and successful and when I returned later in the day after his monitoring period, everybody was just as friendly. They explained information about his new microchip, healing times, and how everything went, and kept adding in how he was their favorite animal of the day.It's been 2 weeks and he's healed up great.The cost was beyond affordable and I can gladly say that we will be going back there for any veterinary needs we need for Ziggy.

Dr D purchased the practice from Dr. Cole (who we had used for certain services since 1995) Right after Dr Cole retired we had an Equine emergency and Dr D came right out. He has always been available to us, even in the middle of the night, with a doe trying to kid. Or meeting us at the Clinic off hours and weekends. We have been through a lot together, large and small animal wise.

Dr. Dietrich and his staff have been amazing to work with. They specialize in all sizes of animals from livestock to pets. And are accommodating to your needs.The staff have helped with all phases of my horses lifecycle and made one of the hardest decisions of putting my horse down, peaceful and reassuring.They've cared for my 2 Siberian Huskies, spay / neuter, microchip, immunizations. And have always been prompt with answering my questions.I highly recommend Dr Dietrich and his staff for furry family members heath care needs!

I 10/10 recommend. I called at 4 about an emergency for a cat I had, they got me in immediately before closing to help me out. I went in alone, to do something hard. Jerry the receptionist, was such a doll. She hugged me after wards because I was crying. The vet is an amazing guy! Very sweet, and very sympathetic for you. They are not bad on costs! They are wonderful! Thanks for a great experience for a not so great occasion!! I also am not sure who the second man was that helped but he was also very kind & compassionate

Called and asked for an x-ray for my pregnant dog. I was told they don't do that, but they can do an ultrasound instead. Showed up for my appointment (which is already difficult in the morning with a pregnant dog and new baby in a carrier), and was told that an ultrasound can't count puppies and I needed an x-ray. All of the staff just stood around in the lobby waiting for me to leave instead of taking the time to turn on their x-ray machine. So, they DO have a machine; they just don't want to use it? I was turned away with no other options. Waste of a morning. Will never be going back here again.

Absolutely the worst service! First they take all my info schedule my appointment, but then, when we call to follow up they have no record of us!!! 🤬 Then they rescheduled us for over 3 weeks out and right before we finally get close to the appointment they no longer accept Friends of Felines!!! If they would have honored the appointment we made in the first place we wouldn't be in this mess now I have 3 kittens we can't get neutered for a couple months out. And no sympathy from the service. If they reply to this don't believe them they had no sympathy and only care about the money. To bad because I have 2 dogs 4 cats and plan on adding to our family but your losing a lot more then a couple of cheap nature's!

Saturday morning no pre- appt. Had to have my hound put to eternal rest. This was hard for me to do as Snickers and I were very close. She went to sleep very quickly and pain free. I am grateful to the doc and staff for their services.

I have been using Scio Animal Hospital for over 10 years. My daughter told me about them, they are caring and affordable. Dr Sally is the best. She is really go the extra mile for you. She loves animals and when I had to have my moms dog put down, she cried almost as hard as me. Its nice to have a vet that cares and not just about the bill. She worked with our grandson who couldn't afford his big dogs treatment, but needed it. She made sure he was able to get his dogs taken care of. She didn't just send him down the road like so many vets would. Our family loves her.

Veterinarian Dr Dietrich is very competent and knowledgeable. We take both of our dogs here for annual shots check ups and exams. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and we are happy to have a good Veterinarian office in Scio.

If you love your pet, find a different vet. This guy shouldn’t be in practice. I’ve lost one pet because of his incompetency and now may lose another. I won’t allow him to touch another one of my animals.

Very nice people, I had 2 puppies fixed march 15, 1 male,1female. I give my own vaccines, and they accepted my record without issue. Many places won't. The ladies at the front desk were very sweet, the vet came into the lobby diring drop off and pick up and was a very down to earth guy. Scio is a little out of my way but less than 30 min. 2 fixed,2 exams, 2 rabies shots, 2 nail trims and pain meds for both for 350 that is an amazing price. Now your dog weight affects anesthesia cost and pain med cost. So your costs could be a bit different. All and all I was very happy with the service and as a bonus they did internal stitches so no E collars beating me up for the next ten days.

Dr. Cole sold the business a year ago, but the same small town laid back vibe is in the Air. Dr Dietrich is the new Dr in this beautiful, historical building in Scio. Take your fur babies in and meet the staff. They have always taken very good care of my pets. I trust them with my fur posse.

We had a cow give birth and then have issues post partum. She was unable to stand so we called Dr. Dietrich. He came out in the morning and administered electrolytes IV, told us she had milk fever and that we needed to try getting her up. He never completed a physical exam or even took her temperature. After trying all day, and rotating this 1000 lb cow every few hours, she was still not up by the evening. We called him back to give an update and ask for advice. He told us there was nothing else he could do.At 6:00 that evening we were desperate for help and called a second vet. We had used this clinic once, over a year ago, for one of our dogs. This vet did not hesitate and came out within an hour. Took her temp, listened to her lungs, checked her uterus (the usual exam things). Unfortunately, he was also at a loss as to why she was not standing. He still went the extra mile to help and took my husband back to his hospital to loan us a lift to assist with getting the cow on her feet. Unfortunately she had been down too long and it turned out poorly in the end, but I wish we had called the second vet first as she may have had more of a chance if we had been able to use that lift from the beginning. If the first doctor had bothered to tell us that there was such a contraption that we could purchase, we would have been more than happy to. She may have been a cow, and not a family pet, but she was a living creature, suffering and needing assistance. His lack of compassion or willingness to help was not OK. We will not be using this clinic for any of our animal care needs in the future as I do not want to chance that same type of care on one of our family pets.Final note, the second doctor that came out said that he did not want to judge any other doctor's opinions but, in his 50 some years of practicing veterinary medicine, he has never seen a first time mother cow have milk fever. Additionally, it is very uncommon in beef breeds, which she was.

We brought our puppy in for standard neutering and when we came back to pick him up in the afternoon, he had massive swelling in his belly and testicle area. They were going to discharge our dog without taking a second look at this. Dr. Cole had already left the office with no mention of anything possibly going wrong during surgery. We had to draw attention to the swelling, his belly was purple from internal bleeding, turns out he had a blood clot. Dr. Cole came back and had to do an emergency surgery. We never got a follow up call. They helped us bring the dog back to car after 15 minutes post surgery still under anesthetics. Our dog had to spend the following day at our local bet to be monitored. We had to get additional antibiotics and sedatives neither did she recommend of prescribe.

Highly recommend scio Animal Clinic..They were very polite ..They got me in without appointment even thou you are suppose to make one prior. They obviously care about there customers and the customers pets . They were very prompt getting me in to treat my fur baby and very informative. They have very reasonable rates and make you feel good about doing business with them .

I have been going to Scio Animal Hospital for years. And they have helped me with everything from horses to cats. My family also goes here as well for all off their vet needs. I go here because I know I am going to get the truth and not some sugar coated answer, I want to help my pets the best way I can and Scio Animal Hospital has helped me with that for more than 20 years. I would like to add to this review.... All of my visits have been with Dr. Cole. I have not been here since the new vet has started.

Dr. D and his team did a fantastic job with my Kune Kune pig. They spayed her for significantly less than I was quoted at other clinics, they were quick, and they were professional. As hard as it is to find vets who will care for pigs, I was super impressed at the care my piggie recieved. This clinic will become our go-to spot for anything involving pig care. I highly recommend Scio Animal Clinic.

On behalf of a Facebook post with X-ray photos: “I thought a lot about posting this and finally decided I did not want anyone else to face what I am going through right now. I worked at Scio Animal Clinic for the last year. I walked out last week over his gross negligence regarding multiple animals. He recently repaired my Foster dog Doras broken leg on December 29th. After the surgery he repeatedly refused to take the AP X-Ray view I asked for. I had an X-ray taken last week Where Dr. Dietrich assured me it was “healing nicely “. I looked at the X-Ray and it was mostly white and unreadable. So 3 days later I took her to Faithful Friends Animal Clinic for X-rays where they were horrified to find what Dr. Dietrich had done to this little 9lb dog. She has a huge pin sticking out of the skin on her hip. This is the X-ray Faithful Friends took clearly showing he never aligned the bones. The pin is hooked to nothing. They are removing the pin on the 19th. If the leg causes her pain they will likely amputate. Dr. Dietrich destroyed the only chance this dog had of ever having a fully functioning leg. I cant imagine how she must have been suffering. This is not the first shady thing to happen there and he truly doesn’t care about animals. 3 Vets have looked at her X-rays/her and have been astonished at the complete lack of knowledge, ethics, and integrity that are obvious from the trauma this little girl has been enduring from this botched surgery. I never liked him but I trusted him as a veterinarian. I was wrong. If you love your pets do not take them to the Scio Animal Clinic. Never let Dr. Brian Dietrich ever touch your animals.”
