Absolutely the most kind and knowledgeable shelter I've been in. The animals there are well taken care of and its is the best pit stop on the way to their forever home. They really have the beat people who work there and are able to answer any questions or questions that you have, and can point you in the direction of ways to increase your own knowledge to help you best take care of your new fur family member!

I have adopted four dogs from MCDS. The adoption fees are kinda steep but not any more than anywhere else. The vet for the first adoption was really nice and a real looker. All the other times the staff is nice.

I'm very shocked with how I was spoken to here. My dog was impounded and the lady at the front desk was extremely rude to us for no reason. We just wanted to know what happened and how he was taken, I was very calm and assertive not looking for an argument whatsoever. I just wanted to know how my fur baby was taken. I was working and wasn't made aware of how. No reason for her to get so mad and angry with us.

I’m a volunteer and I like much better than the local shelter down the road. Much better environment. Very compassionate staff who really care about the dogs. Oz is awesome!!!

These people are heartless losers and their lame laws make it so your dog has to be physically hurt or dead before they do anything about dogs at large that are vicious and attack leashed dogs. Don't ever call for help from them you won't get it. They basically said that because I share a duplex that even on parts that are my own property are unsafe because according to Lindsay with the Marion county dog control dogs are allowed to run up onto your property and attack other animals and children.

We found a dog July 2 2023 and couldn't find the owners we shared it on Facebook and several different sites and never could find the owners today they took this senior dog in to look for his owners and find him a forever home I pray him and every other gets a good loving home !!!

Can't trust anything they say. Just renewed my dogs license for 3 years and found out we were moving out of state so I've requested to have refund. They said once they process the payment, they don't refund the money. So if you are renewing the registration dor you dog, do 1 year at a time. You never know what's going to happen to your pet tomorrow and I'm just trying to save pet owners money. Due to delay in the mail they didn't received the payment when I wrote to them. They said they will close my account and if the check does happen to come, they'll mail it back. WHAT A LIE! They process the check and we don't even live here. Good thing I put a stop payment on the check. Even though I paid service fee it's better than paying people like this who does whatever they want with no regards to people.

They really seem to care for the dogs. As a volunteer for a dog rescue organization, they did their best to answer our questions about a stray they picked up. They also feed them higher end food, have a behaviorist on staff, give them outdoors playtime. They are short staff right now. Would have given 5 stars if the dog was bathed. He was one stinky baby.

Listen to your customers and understand their viewpoints - don't make decisions about behavior emitted by a dog you don't know and for sure do not interpret the dog's behavior as the final say even when our 8 year history has a different view. An adoption was thwarted today because there was no resilience or interest in ensuring that the " expert analysis" held truth. We will go private for our rescues from here on.

I met a puppy over the weekend at Wilco in Stayton. Fell totally in love with Elsie. Asked about adoption and was informed how to go about applying to adopt her. I did everything asked of me and was told that the foster parent would contact me. Went in to animal control on Tues and refilled out adoption questionnaire. Was told yet again about the phone call, within 24 hour btw... it has been 4 days now. I called again this morning and was informed that someone else has an appointment today at 4 to meet Elsie. My heart shattered at that moment. Meeting her, playing with her and being loved on by her was all it took for my husband and I to fall in love with this sweet bundle of love. How do things like this happen? And why?

Liars chipped our pet against our will after a previous pet died due to complications with a ruptured chip. While I understand that such incidents are rare and don't just happen without outside influence, a little compassion was not too much to ask, and the lack thereof will not soon be forgotten.The lie that this was "required" will also not soon be forgotten. Chipping by dog control is allowed by law - not required; certainly not when the owner is standing there in tears begging you not to do it. Imagine if I walked into Dog Control an called you a c*** because the law allows me to do it, and then tried to tell you there was nothing I could do because I was required to call you a c***.

Had to return a dog for behavioral issues with our other dog. Were told we would have a credit for one year, and would then receive a refund after a year if we wished. Came back after a year and were refused our refund. Rudely, I might add, by the noise-hole at the front desk. Don't bother with this place, unless you're looking to rent a dog for $140 for two days. Liars.

If I could leave no stars I would. Terrible place. Incompetent staff. Theifs. They cashed my check in for a renewal of a pet license and then claimed I never sent it. So untrustworthy. It’s stupid for us to be expected to license our dogs when they can’t do their job right. It’s unbelievable. Ridiculous.

We have rescued many dogs and brought them here, and the amount of professional care they give dogs is wonderful. We just adopted a dog from there that we rescued and they helped introduce our older dog to the new puppy and they were super helpful.

We adopted during the December special. It was a very fast paced, rushed process, but it went smoothly. The staff were nice especially the lady working the front desk who processed the paperwork.

While looking for our lost dog the ladies at MCDOGS were there to help. Even though they are not supposed to tell you if your dog is there over the phone but they did it anyway. I am in your debt thank you so much. Our dog is home.

Amazing people. Today I went running and on my journey I encountered a black and white male pitbull on satter and Vernon st. Around noon. I knocked on some near by neighbor doors, noone claimed him or knew if he belonged to anyone in area. So I called marion county dog control. They were super nice and very accommodating towards the situation.Thank you

I found a dog running loose today that I took to MCDC. I couldn’t have asked for more helpful and caring staff. Everyone I met was friendly and their love for dogs was apparent in everything they did.

Hard to get their attention to adopt dogs in foster care. Emailed them and never heard back. Called them and found out they had been adopted already but they’re still listed on the website. Bummer!

They let you come in a visit with the animals and will let you have a room to spend time with them. And if you're wanting to adopt will talk to you about the behaviors and feeding habits they've observed. Great helpful and friendly staff.

If I could put 0 stars I would.They do not care about the well being of dogs, they just want your money and will do anything to get it. Awful people working here. Im sorry if your pet ever has to experience this place.

Dont bring dogs here ..They make money off ur dog keep the dog first before u bring any dog here .. All these people care about is money .. The lady told me in the front how dont u have any money! And told me to barrow money and didnt want to give my dog back she called me 10 mins bbefore they close and she tell me they r almost closed when i show up and didnt want to give me my dog back and told me to come back in the morning .. This place is money hungry they dont care they just want money like the lazy lady that sits in the front office ...They make money off ur dog so dont bring it here so it can be locked up in that so called dog shelter

Went to look for adoptable dogs. After going back to look I was told that none of the dogs were available for adoption because they were being transferred to another shelter, they couldn't even tell me what shelter they were being sent to. Never go there, not helpful and rude
