Very nice folks in a very remote, very beautiful place. The hot springs are very welcome in the cold of November.Their access road is nice, if you have four wheel drive you can probably just take Frog Springs for free but their road is maintained so nice if you two wheel drive.Prices have increased a bit but it’s understandable considering how remote this place is. $50/night for tent site, $45 if you have cash, $100/night for bunk house. No running potable water, bring your own.

We had a great time here. The hot spring was clean and hot. The staff was amazing. Met the owner real great guy. Thier ranch sells fresh from the ranch cuts of beef at the check in office. They have old military mash units to rent as rooms. Using the bathrooms here filled with hot water from the spring. Definitely an experience. Driving, biking on the Playa was fun. Local hikes into the Steens mountains. Swimming Alvord lake was difficult but fun for a photo op. Great prices, great staff,

Great place to visit, the wife and I spent our anniversary there. Water was very warm and nice with a great view of the Steen mountains that has a hiking trail as well. The front desk help was awesome, Darsha, John and Paul. They have great steaks, burgers and hot dogs for purchase for grilling that come from alvord ranch, a restroom for campers and soakers, there is a lot of disrespectful people that thinks this location is free public use. Thank you Mr Davis for your hospitality with a great location and view of the mountains and the lake bed to drive on. BB's husband

Such a sweet place! We only planned on staying 1 night, went out and explored the next day and ended up going back the second night. Owner and staff are so friendly and makes the stay very enjoyable. The view is breathtaking, the hotsprings are adorable and very hot, and the campsite was perfect! We live pretty far away but if we are ever this way again, we will come back.

$20 a night for dry camping with spring and playa access. Fantastic, if you can make the drive. Gravel road can be kind of rough, and it is remote. Main office has beer, steaks from the local ranch, firewood, eggs, and all the basic camping supplies you forgot. The springs themselves are very nice concrete tubs, one walled and one open, and the view of the stars on a moonless night is breathtaking. You're sure to meet someone interesting out here.

We arrived just after closing, being chased by a blizzard. Although the office was closed, there was an after hours phone number posted, so we called and the owner answered. He said we were more than welcome to use the facility, and if we did want to camp overnight, we could settle up in the morning. The facility was great, 2 separate soaking areas: one with walls, one without, based on how much exposure you want. There was a deck with non-slip mats, and an area with a curtain if you needed to change and protect yourself from the elements. The path out to the Hot Spring was marked with lights and there were stools in both soaking areas so you could really relax. On the path out, there was a historical memorial regarding speed races that have occured on the dry river basin. I appreciate that both that group, and the land owner have this special bond.We were the only ones there at that hour, in that weather, and it was really lovely. The owner called back the following day to ask how we enjoyed the experience. He also gave additional historical information about the Hot Spring and the location. He wants to keep this spot primitive, while also ensuring comfort of those visiting.I rarely leave reviews, but both the owner, and the location inspired me to do so. I recommend this spot to anyone who wants to enjoy nature in a beautiful location.

We stayed at Alvord Hot Springs over labor day weekend and had a great memorable time. This was our first time camping in the desert and it was such a unique experience. The staff here is friendly, easy going and accommodating. Just what you need when you're looking for a getaway. We rented a bunker for the weekend that had enough space to sleep and store our belongings out of the heat. Be prepared to get dusty, you're in the desert after all and there's nothing better than soaking in the hot springs after a long day!The check in office has a small mini mart with essentials like water, ice, aspirin, Alvord Desert shirts, mugs etc, a microwave and a coffee maker. The facility has a one stall bathroom, recycling bins and the facility dispose of your garbage bags.We had a great time and plan on coming back.Thank you to the wonderful people who work here! Can't wait to plan a trip back!

We secured a tent camp spot here for a night and thoroughly enjoyed our time. There is one hot springs pool, half covered and half uncovered. It is rustic but I think that is expected given the remote location. There is a rustic toilet bathroom for use as well. I liked that we could have a fire here in August and the customer service was great.

Truly incredible place that needs a little work. We stayed in one of the bunkhouses. Unfortunately for us, it was January and very cold (around 20°F). We were a bit disappointed that the heaters inside the bunkhouses were not enough to keep the entire room (which is about 200 square feet) warm. In fact, it was cold enough in our bunkhouse that the water in our dog’s bowl froze, which indicated the temp was around freezing in our bunkhouse. The included heater was just too small. I would really recommend that the owners upgrade the heaters in the bunkhouses if possible. If a larger heater can’t be plugged in, then offer a propane heater like a Little Buddy.Other than that, the store was extremely well stocked, the bathroom was nice (no showers because there’s no potable water), and the campground hosts were super nice and friendly. The hot springs themselves were amazing, there are two pools, one hotter than the other, and a small outdoor changing area.I definitely need to go back in warmer weather.

It was such a great and different experience. It's 20 dollars per person to go i the hot springs, kids 12 and under are free. There is a little store where you can buy snacks, drinks and souvenirs. There is a bathroom available for guests. They have a privatr road that goes straight to the Alvord desert!

This is a very special area that gives strong Mad Max vibes, but in a good way. We stayed in the campgrounds, which are sparse but serviceable with great views of the Playa. The hotsprings are great, although I really hope they don't expand because one night we were there it was quite busy and we ended up having to wait to get a spot without feeling too crowded. The history here is incredible. If he's around and feeling like chatting, try to strike up a conversation with the host John. Really nice guy with tons of information that'll add a lot to the experience. Can't wait to come back and spend more time here and in the surrounding areas- seems like lots to explore.

Great springs, water is pretty hot. The tubs where the water comes in are pretty clean and get cleaned about once weekly it seems. they have clean bathrooms there. camping there is expensive if you camp near springs but you could drive 5 minutes out and camp in the desert for free

First off major thanks to the owners for sharing this special place for all of us to enjoy. Respect the place and you're going to have a great visit. It's a privilege to have visited this remote and down-to-earth hot springs. A lot of people seemed to come to escape the city, but fair warning that you're inevitably going to be in the pool with others... The bonus being one of these fellas might be your hero on the road if you get a flat tire. Sit back, relax, have a good laugh or simply enjoy the silence... or the wind... Enjoy the stars. And the sunrise. And fine meats for grilling with a bonus grill available, ice, memorabilia and cold beers for sale too. It's a good place for these things... Overall good people here and an awesome stay. Will come again soon.

Located at the base of the Steen Mountains in Oregon, this rustic little gem is a wonderful treat for those who crave serenity in a busy world. It is very remote, from the north, it’s a 28 mile gravel road, and from the south 12 miles. Don’t expect an cellular signal, but do expect silence, bright stars, crisp air and a very hot spring. Day use, camp, or stay in a converted mash unit furnished with beds, chairs and tables. Don’t forget to bring drinking water (remember it’s rustic) and you must provide your own bedding. Well worth the time if you are a soaker.

One of my favorite spots in Oregon. Tony and Ria manage the land well and they were great to camp next to during my 2 nights on a 5 day camping trip. The hot spring was one of the best ones I’ve ever visited and well worth the trip. You’re able to drive right on the vast desert and do whatever you want. Donuts in the desert was a blast! Remember to bring water and a full tank of gas with you to have a great time.

Great place, beautiful location. The stars are incredible to watch while soaking in the hot spring at night. And don’t think twice about getting a steak they sell in the freezer. Worth the splurging for! Just do it! Best flavored steak I’ve had in my life. Everyone that works here is also very nice and accommodating. Clean restrooms also. Make sure you bring plenty drinking water, or plan on buying some at their little general store.

So incredible. The hot springs has campsites with 24 hour access to both the playa and the pools. Very laid back atmosphere with breathtaking views of the night sky. I recommend going during the full moon and spending at least one night sleeping out on the playa.

Absolutely magical way to ring in the new year! Accomodations are rustic but comfortable! Springs are the perfect temp, and everything is clean and well-maintained. Had a great chat with the owner of the place on the phone. I hope to return many times! Thank you, Paul! (and all!)

Been here twice and had a blast both times. Second time my friends sedan got stuck on the playa… we had to wait 6 days for the lakebed to dry (for recovery) and stayed at the bunkers/campsites here. Fantastic staff (Rick, Spider, Amy) who were extremely kind and helpful. They offered us some great food from their trailers/RVs during our stay. The office sells some tasty meat too.Always great conversations in hot springs here. Definitely my favorite spot to relax and get away from people/ the city. 11/10 staff + establishment.
