Came here to get my dog a simple rabies shot. Tech smugly and loudly informed me that because a completely unrelated leptospirosis shot once gave my dog diarrhea that my dog is now banned from Vetco and that they wouldn’t be seeing her. I would have spent an additional $25-30 in the store too. Waste of a trip, terrible customer service, and online prescreening would have prevented that. Petco has completely lost my business.

I would have given this place 5 stars but for the second visit in a row There has been an "issue" with communications with the staff at this location. My dog is almost 16yrs old and has congestive heart failure. As a result, my vet has her on a very strict diet and Petco carries a very wide and diverse selection of high quality and fresh food that fits within the guidelines of what my veterinarian recommends for my little buddy. Because this brand of food is very popular, I always call ahead to make sure they have it in stock before driving out there. I asked the guy specifically if he had the 5lb tube and he checked and confirmed that he did. I get there and sure enough they didn't. I bought a 2lb tube but it is considerably more expensive. Then I told him I had a return item that I wanted put back on my credit card and pay for the food with a pre paid gift card. It took him 3 attempts to get that right. Love the store, they have their own parking lot which for downtown is a big plus, but someone should train this guy to maybe pay better attention!

I went to petco to find food for my senior dog as he won’t eat kibble anymore. I was helped by a lovely man and he helped me find the best nutritional food for my dogs needs! My dog is loving his new food! And he’s so happy I am so thankful for the help!! Thank you for being awesome!!!!

I usually visit Vetco for my dog's vaccination, and this time was very disappointed.1. The veterinarian refused to test my dog cause she wanted to sell a more expensive product.I wanted my dog to get tested for a heartworm and get Simparica for a month after the test, just as I did last year but she refused to give my dog a heartworm test cause she said she only sells 6-month Simparica, which I did not want to purchase at once.2. Bad hygiene of the veterinarianShe injected two of the vaccines through my dog's mouth by covering the top of the injector with some cream-like liver treat. This method was understandable but she had this treat straight on the examination table (literally, they squeezed it on the table) where all the chemicals and other animals were treated. Even if they sanitized the table, I would've never wanted my dog to eat anything that was on the examination table.If they mentioned it before injecting, I would've said no but I realized it after she was done.3. No wellness examThey usually give a free wellness exam if you purchase a vaccination package, and they did give my dog an exam last year. They usually check the teeth, pupils, heartbeat, and ears for this exam, but this time the veterinarian did not give this exam but they listed on the receipt that they gave my dog an exam. I noticed this after my visit while looking up my receipt so I'll ask for it at my next appointment.I made a payment for a vaccination package and my dog got half of the vaccinations so I might need to finish the remaining shots, but I can't trust this place anymore and won't go back ever again.

I came in today for a vibrating bark collar. When I went to check out with the collar, I experienced yet again another rude and unsolicited advice scenario. All I wanted to do today was purchase an item that was for sale and be on my way. I came in to the store today at my wits end, having tried everything that has been recommended to me by my certified canine trainer for my dog’s nuisance barking. I was not offered a pleasant checkout experience. Instead, Sydnee the associate checking me out chose to pry about *why* my dog has been barking and why I was purchasing this collar. First of all, the reasons why I buy items that the store sells is no one’s business. Second, if a customer is not asking for help or an opinion, it is quite frankly rude to make assumptions about a person’s situation and why they are needing a tool to assist with barking. I felt shamed by this associate for buying this collar and inadequate as a pet parent because she questioned my home routines. I understand the intent may not have been negative, but the way it was received felt like harsh judgment over how I train and care for my animal. And keep in mind she was just the associate at the checkout counter- not a trainer from which I sought advice. Something associates should consider moving forward- all customers come in with unique experiences and unique pets who have different quirks. Being questioned today during checkout about my ability to help my dog and her barking was inappropriate and left a bad taste in my mouth. I came in stressed and wanting to purchase an item that may be helpful for me, as my dog’s behavior is now impacting my living situation and those around me. I’m sorry Sydnee but you are not my dog’s trainer nor are you the advisor that I sought. If you don’t want people to buy vibrating bark collars, don’t stock them on your shelves. Needless to say, I will not be shopping at this store again due to this poor and judgmental experience.

My Sister took me there yesterday...my 1st time....EVERY Store of every kind should have the kind of Staff this store has!!!!!Very knowledgable, very kind and very caring!!!!I will drive from my outer south east/Mt. The staff are always incredibly friendly. I also think they are very knowledgeable and have been very helpful to me ( on at least 10 occasions that I would consider pretty important - not just questions about food). We have also been through all 3 dog training courses and couldn't be happier with the results. My dog loves our last two trainers so much she literally freaks out if we bump into them. It's adorable. Highly recommend

This is a really convenient spot to pick up various things you need for your pets. It's small and on the pricier side, but I've typically found what I'm looking for here and it's so easy to walk to.I wish the cashiers were less pushy about their rewards program. They'll be friendly until I decline signing up, and I always have to tell them at least 3 times that I'm not interested. It puts a bad taste in my mouth to an otherwise pleasant experience.

Unambitious staff. They find every excuse not to allow scheduling of self-service “dog baths”. They are rude about it as well. If you question or ask next for availability There are several mom & pop places in the same neighborhood that are priced equally with much friendlier, and willing staff. This place isn’t local and it shows.

I went to Chrys to get some dog training and she was amazing. I thought that since my dog is no longer a puppy, it was a lost cause and I needed to deal with the lack of training I provided him as a puppy, but she reassured me that is not the case and worked so hard with us to make him very well behaved. She is also great at giving tips on nutrition for different types of pets. She truly cares about her customers and their pets and always wants the best for them. I highly recommend her. You won't regret it.

Ok first of all its a beautiful pet store. I really enjoyed see around how huge they got a collection of stuffs which I didn't expected. I got what I wanted also on the top they have some discount on my next purchase which is quite impressive when It comes to prices these days.

I work for a different petco and the manager here is a little uptight or has a massive stick up where the sun doesn't shine, I would've been willing to transfer but Dylan looks terrified of her, I tried to make a joke about stealing employees from another store since the urgent hire sign was outside and they are having a hiring advertising going on in store and I live closer to this store and since the joke didn't land I moved on and she has the gall to talk to me about professionality while I am a customer trying to have a good time, I don't need help since I am the help at another store. Frankly if your wondering why the sign is up I'd start with her.Since she asked for my information and is attempting to get me in trouble I figure I should just air out the laundry for any future employees.

Unfortunately, I have not have very good experiences with the staff at Unleashed on Burnside. I have never been greeted, asked for help, and each interaction with the cashiers has been unpleasant. Today, I walked in and saw about three employees. No one greeted me or asked if I needed help. I grabbed the bag of kibble I needed and placed it on the register counter. The cashier said something about a bag and I thought they asked if I needed a bag and I said no thank you. They then snapped, "No, I said to flip over the bag so I can scan it." I cautiously said "Okay," and did as they asked. I then tried to enter in phone numbers I thought had the Petco rewards on them, and when none of them worked, the cashier said they can apply it for me this time and I'll just have to sign up later. That was nice of them to do, but I walked away feeling downtrodden. When I've come here with my partner, they seem to respond to him much more warmly and politely. Although I try to assume the best in people, the impact of the actions of the staff of Unleashed left me feeling like they were doing me a favor by checking me out and that I had no value as their customer.

This location is small, but I've always had exceptional customer service here, better than ANY Petco I have been to before. One of the managers (I believe) went above and beyond to help me understand how their online ordering system works, the benefits, and he was willing to help me make an order for the food size that I was unable to find there. Overall, his courtesy, kindness and willingness to go above and beyond was an exceptional customer service experience, and one of the best I have received in Portland, thus far.

This location has such great staff that clearly love their pets and enjoy talking about animals. They're always very friendly, informed about the products, and don't mind chatting a bit.The prices are a bit higher than what you'll find online, but usually only by a margin of a few dollars. It's absolutely worth the couple bucks more to not deal with waiting on shipping.

Have pretty much everything you’d need for cat stuff, can’t say about other animals. Friendly staff at front counter!Edit: I came back here to get some cat supplies including about 50 pounds of litter recently, and Matthew offered to carry the litter to my car in the parking lot for me. I didn’t ask. I didn’t even complain about the weight, he just offered to help. Amazing person!! This employee needs a raise, a bonus, something!!! 6 of 5 stars for Matthew

This Petco was awesome, they had a self-wash pet area. I spent about $100, got everything I needed and more. To my delight they had several clearance areas. The normal prices were great, and I even got a discount. The sales associates gave me a, "new pet parent," coupon book. They even applied a coupon to my purchase right then. I signed up for the rewards program and got info on dog training and more.My only complaint would be; whilst browsing the treats an associate guided a customer to items right next to me. She completely disregarded the 6ft stipulation that is not only law, but store policy (and common sense.) It's posted several times throughout the store. And let's face it, you'd have to be living faaaar off the grid to not be aware of the 6 ft. social distancing rule. So she either disregarded it or: was literally born yesterday, emerged from a shelter where she'd been living since the beginning of this year at least, or another extremely unlikely scenario.Putting herself a foot from me is rude, but she also ushered another customer to invade my 6ft. respective bubble. So I left the area since I was the only one with objections to close quarters with 2 strangers who possess questionable social distancing skills. No sooner did I get comfortable and begin to delve into the shampoo selection, here they both come to AGAIN stand right next to me. It irritated and vexed me, but there was lots of things I wanted to look at thankfully. If I'd been there for only treats and shampoo it would have been frustrating.Altogether I give it an 8/10, I will be returning to spend money here. My dog LOVED the Bully sticks.

My family are International dog breeders and I stopped in and wanted to purchase a store display dog that looked like my dog that was in the window.When I asked the two ladies about buying one,they looked at each other like they really didnt know what to do. They just said oh they arent for sale. All it was was a little stuffed dog that they had at least 3 of in the window.That maybe wouldntvhave cost 5.00. Ill do my business elsewhere and pass my little expierience on to other dog lovers

We have lived across the street from this location for a little over a year. We have two dogs, and we usually have a good experience with the employees. They know our dogs well. As of three weeks ago, we dropped in for new food. The person working behind the counter is a new employee. Their name is Chrys. I didn’t like their approach with sales. They were pushy and not personable at all. Not like the old staff.Today, I dropped in because it is one of my dogs birthday. Yes, a Halloween birthday! Usually we drop in for the free birthday gift of 1lb of treats from the bar. Typically, I do not have to provide any information. This year I did not receive an e-mail. I figured I could drop by and grab my dogs birthday treats without an issue. I explained the situation to the new employee, Chrys. Chrys would not honor the birthday gift!I called the 877 hotline number to request for the Birthday coupon in the e-mail. I am waiting to hear back from the customer service line. It was too busy. I decided to call another store location to explain the situation, and they had no issue honoring me the birthday gift. Go figure. Chrys has no customer service skills.I miss the old staff that knew our dogs so well. It’s quite a bummer. I never had an issue before. I will be calling management (Julie) tomorrow to complain about Chrys. Although, I am across the street, we will no longer shop there. They lost a loyal customer. I typically purchase items for $60.00.
