My mother had been wanting to go to this place for a very long time. She worked in a pet store fish department and had heard about how amazing it was, so we took the 4 1/2 hr drive. It was a little bit hard to find. It looked from the outside like a hole in the wall. Inside it's very warm and rather humid. But when I started looking around, I was actually impressed. There were so many tanks with so many different kinds of fish and plants, and the display tanks were nothing short of award worthy. The prices seemed a bit high, but honestly I can see why. With that many tanks- I didn't count but I would estimate close to 150? Maybe more... Not one tank was dirty and none of the fish looked stressed or unhealthy at all. The water test station was tidy and organized, and I have to point out the tanks are not on a single water system, (a no-no that a lot of places do) meaning each tank had its own chemistry going on. And the staff was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We will be making that trip again!

I’ve been coming to this store for four years after adopting a couple of fish from a friend. I now have a 29-gal community tank and it’s all thanks to the staff here. The selection of fish and live plants is amazing, but I go back for the staff. They are all so knowledgeable and accommodating, and I never feel rushed. They’ve advised me countless times with sick fish issues, and street parking is almost always available. Excellent store!

This was my first time ordering fish online so I was really nervous but TWS did an INCREDIBLE job! A lot and a lot of live plants. Price is a little bit pricey but they do have a big selection. Employees there are friendly not demanding or persuasive. They have a total 6 isles loaded with only fish tank. The display fish tank are super vibrant. It is a wheelchair accessible. Easy to find parking lot. Will definitely keep on going until they mistreated me.

Came in wanting to get supplies to get a small tank set up for some fresh water shrimps. The employee was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, it’s been several years since I’ve had a tank setup and they were able to answer all my questions and point me in the right direction to get my tank cycling in preparation for some shrimps! Will definitely be returning!

My view of this Wet Spot is.If you are into fish and everything needed then this spot is for you. I could go into debt big time. Not wanting to come out of retirement so I could afford my new hobby I'll keep myself under control. What a fun place to work. The employees are Super friendly. They enjoy their jobs. I used the website to order as I'm not in the state where the store is located. Shipping is kind of pricey but the quality of fish that you receive is worth it. As for prices of the fish they are generally not too pricey compared with other sites/stores. I've put my self on the emailing list for one of the fish I have been looking for, which were brown tail pencilfish. When I received the email I immediately jumped to order them. They were very good at communicating with me on my order. And when I received my fish, they were all healthy on arrival and have acclimated to my water parameters. I will definitely order from them again and recommend buying from them!

I had them ship me multiple types of fish, shrimp, snails, and plants all the way from the west coast to the northeast during the winter. I was very concerned about that much handling but they arrived VERY well packaged.. in addition, every single item arrived alive and well.I must also say, the plants were the healthiest and best looking plants I have ever seen. I also had several discussions with the staff over the phone and all were very friendly and helpful.If you are worried about ordering fish online, these guys will get you excited about your next purchase before you even need to! 10/10 will order again.

I absolutely love this fish store! I have had a fresh water tank since early November 2021. All of my plants, wood, and fish except one are from The Wet Spot. All of my fish are happy, healthy, and gorgeous. I have purchased White Cloud Mountain minnows, 3 different pangio species, and mystery snails.Along with the quality of my tank additions being exceptional, the staff is also terrific! Every time I’ve been in the people working have been knowledgeable and super friendly. My last visit I had a chat with Leah. She took the time to listen to all the questions I had about my fish and plant life. Being new to this, hobby I am still expanding my knowledge, and have PLENTY of questions. Thank you Leah for taking the time to make me feel confident in my purchase!!

Such a fantastic store! I’m very into the hobby and have been for almost a year now, so the first thing of note walking in is how GOOD it smells! It has all of the best parts of the fish smell and makes me break out in a grin every time! I could spend hours looking in their tanks, and this week was my first time buying from them! I got seven fish, and they are all super happy and healthy! I also felt very listened to by the gal that helped me out and she answered all of the questions I had and pointing me in such a good direction! So far my favorite fish specialty store that I have been to!

This place is never big on customer service besides maybe one or two employee's that have been there long term. But I came in today just to look around on my weekend and found a lovely large fish to add to my 240g, price for size wasn’t terrible but to have every question answered with i don’t know In regards to the large fish I’d be taking home. Just kinda very disappointing honestly, he did also accidentally drop this very large fish on the ground which I understand completely has happened to myself as well, but to just toss him back in the tank and then go scooping for one again after it rejoined the group is kinda careless because there’s absolutely no way to guarantee he didn’t sell me the one he dropped… I’ve held back on leaving a review for years but honestly educate your employees please.

Called on Friday and felt welcomed by the guy who answered the phone! I was looking to see what bettas they had in stock. He answered all my questions and suggested I come in. I came in yesterday. THIS WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FISH STORE I HAVE EVER BEEN IN!!! In my 8 years of fish keeping I have never been into such a well-kept fish store. I really loved how each tank was so perfectly clean! No algae or anything! Fish had proper tank setups and seeing this made me excited!! And such a wide variety of them too! For such good prices! Ended up bringing home a samurai betta for a really good price! All the male bettas had bubble nests in their temporary homes, meaning they were very happy and content with their environment :) so good to see their bettas and all their aquatic friends are thriving there at the store, and also, their plant section was so varied! I loved it! Definitely will be shopping here more! Love this store!!

I have ordered fish twice from The Wet Spot. Both times, my fish came very quickly, safely packaged, and with the heating pack actually still warm. I'm used to receiving fish that are timid, and need a few days to adjust; not these fish! My barbs were unfazed and begging for food at the front of the tank immediately. I received the happiest, fattest shoal of pea puffers (which readily eat frozen bloodworms!!). I have inquisitive, personable dwarf honey gourami exploring the tank with their little feelers. I am extremely happy with this storefront, and they will be my first choice whenever I need more fish. They have the best selection of species.

Awesome 🤩 I ordered a Long fin red bushy nose pleco Amano shrimp and croaking gourami’s They arrived healthy accept 1 shrimp died. The pleco is lively and out front n center which is great. I like that they take pride in quarantine. I am excited for the C guarami’s I have admired them from watching Fu the Flowerhorn and they are exactly what I want. I have a fish room and kept Bettas so I am comfortable they will thrive and I can’t wait to hear them croak 😂 I like that they provide lil plant and sponge with beneficial bacteria. They care and it shows

I called on Monday, said I was looking for a pea puffer or two for a 10 gallon, and the lady said it’s a great idea and answered my questions no problem. I drive from Forest Grove to this store to purchase a couple pea puffers, I tell the guy helping me, and he completely puts me off the idea because pea puffers should be in a larger group in at least a 20 gallon apparently. I told the guy that he needs to spread this information around the store, because if the other people had known then I wouldn’t have wasted a good hour of my time at least coming to purchase a fish.Edit for response: the problem is a store should be uniform on what is best for a species of fish. Standard Operating Procedures would help. YouTube and google searches result in a 10 gallon being fine. Not great not bad, but fine, for pea puffers up to 3. Assuming I didn’t research is an insult to my intelligence and the fish keeping hobby as a whole.You can’t have multiple employees from one store saying different things, it just doesn’t work that way. Not when customers expect helpful experience from such a highly rated shop.What LFS am I supposed to go to now? One is condescending, and the other single local fish store with fresh water in the area is jerking me around. Petsmart? Is that the answer? Because they’re more helpful.

There is no better spot in Portland for tropical fish and plants than The Wet Spot. The place is amazing and the service can not be matched. Their employees are knowledgeable and helpful. There is always a line, but their signup list and bell feels more like a tradition than an annoyance. It’s well worth the wait.

It was my first time purchasing a fish online and I am very happy to say The Wet Spot made the whole process smooth and seamless. I have no intent to purchase online from anyone else, they made me wish I lived in Portland Oregon. The Wet Spot is extremely knowledgeable and never made me feel like they were just trying to get my money. I have experienced that, my belief is that in the fish hobby that should never be the case. Always a great experience and most recently was able to get my hands on a nice group of 5 Rio Amaya nannostomus and they are amazing. Great fish, great service, great prices.

Amazing fish store!! I love that quality and the selection. They also take really good care of their fish and plants and aren’t super expensive. Well worth the money. Absolutely do not go to PetSmart or Petco go here instead!!! The staff were also amazing and really nice and didn’t have an attitude. They knew what they were doing and acted like they wanted to be there help customers.

Upon entering into the wet spot I was absolutely blown away! The fish tanks are all in absolute perfect condition. I wanted 2 of everything and one of everything else that I seen.The staff are amazing and vey helpful.I am a lifelong customer.The one problem is that the fish are so healthy that once you fill one tank you end up with more. Im currently on tank 3 a 55 gallon. 😎👍😊

The best place to get tropical fish in the Portland area! My only complaint is that I wish they had an exhaust system to help with the humidity. Otherwise, this is my go to tropical fish store.

I was a shipping order. Let me just say I was not disappointed. This was my first time having fish shipped and I would 100% do it again with this store. Everyone arrived alive, well bagged, and well insulated, which is important for cold Nebraska winters.
