I've been celebrating every birthday of mine at red castle for years, and I've gotta say I'm a big fan of the new location! More space for playing games, helpful staff with excellent suggestions, and the food and drink options that have been added are delightful! I love not having to stop playing to leave and get food, an excellent addition. The chicken tenders are delicious, and if you buy a drink you don't have to pay for game play. Yay!

Possibly my favorite local game shop. I play cards here pretty much every single week, and it has been my go-to spot to purchase table top gaming supplies for over two years now. Excellent shop run by friendly and helpful people and a great environment to play games.

I stopped in just to see what this store was all about. There are so many puzzles of varying number and style! There were a lot of small models for painting (I assume for Dungeons and Dragons). Lots of dice and misc. interesting things. There was a selection of cards as well. Also, a good selection of board and table games. It was clean, open, and the staff was friendly.I didn't try the coffee (it seemed to be on a separate side from the merchandise).2021 COVID note: masks required.

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, wide variety of games for sale! I was there shopping but the people playing at the games tables looked like they were having so much fun! There is also food and drinks for sale.

Red Castle is my go to friendly local game store. They have a great selection of games, puzzles, miniatures, dice, cards and hobby accessories. Anything they don't have on hand can be easily special ordered by the friendly and competent staff. The community is very inclusive and there's something for people of all ages and nerdy persuasions.Red Castle also has tasty food and drinks for those who take part in any of their daily events and game nights.Special recognition goes to the manager Matt. He's extremely friendly, genuine and knowledgeable of all manners of games. He hosts a thriving skirmish wargame community and actively supports people on Discord.Matt provides immeasurable value to the store and is a key factor in Red Castle's continued success. Give that man a raise!

This is way more than a game store! They hold community events, offer private game rooms for rent, you can borrow games to play in the store, and there's a cafe with coffee, beers, ciders, and pub grub style eats. Parking is limited to the surrounding streets, so you may have a walk a bit, and it's a popular area due to the food courts nearby.

I went here with my partner this last weekend to meet up with a new group of friends. We wanted to go somewhere chill and talk about dungeons& dragons and maybe get something to drink or a bite to eat. I was extremely pleasantly surprised with this place. Not only where their energy drinks really good and affordable, but the food was really good too. My partner got fried pickles and said that they were some of the best fried pickles that they have had since they lived in the south. That is a huge compliment from them lol.The staff were all super friendly and just really lovely. The people at the front who are taking orders and making drinks were really sweet and made great recommendations. The people in the games store area were incredibly kind and giving compliments about what we were wearing. The game store itself was very clean, easy to navigate, they had a great selection of games and of TTRPG books. They had a really good selection of minis and it seemed like they had paints and such. There were a lot of dice and the place was just covered in board games. They have a private area that you can rent for I think $20 an hour but don't quote me on that because I don't work there, and the private area was a large room with a large table in the middle, A huge flat screen TV that had a webcam attached to it in case you had people that were remotely playing with you.Considering you can step outside the room and immediately order food and drinks, it was definitely worth $20 an hour. If you have three to four people to split the fee, it's even more affordable.I am absolutely going to go back here. I actually want to go back here this weekend. I want to buy some of their dice, I want to eat some more fried pickles or maybe mozzarella sticks or tater tots cuz those are my favorite things, I am craving their energy drinks which is weird for me, and I just really like this place.Should do yourself a favor and check out Red Castle games and eat some of the good food and drink one of the energy drinks... And plan a meet up for here because it was really chill.

Red Castle has come a long way to improve the staff and store through the worst of Covid and community struggles. Compared to other LGSs in the area, Red Castle is vastly more welcoming and friendly and always gives you a fair shake on trade-ins and new-item pricing.I've had issues here before, but Red Castle and Mox are the only stores I find worth my time and money in Portland for gaming.

This place has a lot of board games, terrain, miniatures, books and runs events all the time. Also a cafe attached. Love going in here and just browsing. Pricing is essentially MRSP.

Definitely didn't have what I was looking for and the customers were a little weird, but the staff was helpful in guiding me to a game that fit the bill for a Christmas gift. I will certainly recommend them to anyone I know looking for a family friendly game.

My favorite game shop in town. I rent games often ($5 for 3 days), and generally stop in when I'm at TnT or Mercado or Ottos. My kids love this place. They always want to buy dice.

An absolute gem of a location. Whether you are visiting to play a hard-core tabletop game or just wat to play a casual game with friends, RedCastle is the place to go. Lots of table space and tons of available games and a truly killer cafe. The staff is beyond friendly too. My whole family has become fans. Highly recommend!

I can really tell rowan does not like working here.I asked for a starter deck for lord of rings and they snapped at me in a super condescending tone. It's pretty obviousim new to magic the gathering and don't know all the terms yet. But that doesn't mean you need to be rude about it. If your new to magic the gathering like I am I would suggest finding a different store to shop at.

When I go in, they have what I'm looking for. The staff go the extra mile to make sure I find it.There's a lively, comfortable in-person gaming area, with a way to get food and drink to take to your table.

Excellent game store! D&D, MTG, 40K, Frosthaven, Puzzles, Dice, Tarot... and a bright, clean space to play! There's even a little cafe for snacks etc. I played commander on a Saturday with some strangers, it was organized yet casual enough that I felt welcomed and had a good time. I will be back frequently!

Great place to play games. It’s become our preferred location for 40k if we can find a time they’re not busy. Good beers on tap and the food is simple but always surprises me with how tasty it is.

Came here recently with a friend and overall, had a blast. Came back to MtG after about a decade hiatus about spoke with someone (I think their name tag said Moe?) and they were both very friendly and informative!Prices on booster packs were better than I expected and I was honestly glad to support a LGS versus buying off amazon and likely getting a tampered pack.Friend and I ended up getting a pre-release pack and a handful of boosters, we got to sit down and just talk and explore MtG from a beginner's point of view inside the shop. It was a really nice relaxing experience. I didn't realize until leaving that there was a cafe within the shop and I just thought that was good shop design. From other reviews I've read, to sit down requires a cafe purchase (or product purchase in general?), that sounds pretty reasonable to me considering how many places these days just have people loitering around.A friend had recommended the place to me and I'm glad they did as I'm now probably also going to recommend the place to my friends. Will probably come back in the near future!

We've driven by this place many times in the last few years of living around the area, and recently we finally decided to check it out and found it to be a pleasant store! I saw a few reviews regarding odor but we didn't smell anything at all? Lol.. anyways! The food was pretty good (and a decent price) and the purchase let us get a few hours of game time in. The employee manning the game rentals even helped us out when we were entirely lost on what to play - he suggested a two player co-op game that LOVED (Forbidden Desert). We played through that game 4 TIMES, lol. So kudos to that guy.. he checked in on us a lot too to ensure we were having a good time, which was nice of him! We'll definitely be coming back to enjoy some more fun game time! :D

My favorite place to buy puzzles! As an immunocompromised person I have felt safe using the the walk up window during the pandemic and I have had a good experience every time. The staff are always wearing their masks properly and have a plastic barrier at the window. I have been able to purchase a wide variety of puzzles to stay busy.

Great experience here! I sold mtg cards here that I found at Goodwill. I’m certain they made a tidy profit on me but that’s to be expected. What prompted me to come and review is how up front they were about what the selling process is (they look through everything themselves, no sorting needed, and if you decline what they’re offering you do get charged 10% or something thereabouts of what they’re offering). They offered me $175 in cash. I got a bunch of Pokémon cards on credit and took $100 in cash. It was a good experience and I’ll come here again if I find a good mtg stash at an estate sale. There were a few board games I wanted and when my son is older I hope I can drag him here and play mtg with him in some of their meetups. It was cool to see so many board game/ hobby gamers in one spot enjoying each others’ strategies and artwork.

This place supports trans workers. We do not know they pay but we know they staff trans an non binary workers. My partner and I both have so much fun here when we sit to play Magic with people from the area.So much great community. One skinny male presenting worker that might be a manager is arrogant and can be rude. One big problem, so many good things it can be very much money for us to come here but that is not bad just bad for us spending to much.

We had a group of seven and wanted to play DnD so we were going to be loud. We came on a day when they were doing DnD discovery. We each bought a well priced drink from their amazing cafe and had a blast for four hours! We were hardly bothered, others in close proximity were also enjoying themselves. The vibes overall were outstanding and we can't wait to return!

I know absolutely nothing about gaming. But I walked out of this establishment feeling like I had actually learned something. So apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks. I went in looking for Pokemon cards and learned a tremendous amount. I'm really hoping the six-year-old that I purchased them for enjoys them. BTW. They have a really good selection.

Love the place. Can get a snack and coffee inside so the whole place smells great. Lots of board games and D&D supplies. Unfortunately some games are impossible to keep in stock but they always offer to order them. Comfortable for all. Even very clean restrooms and good lighting.
