This store needs to be shut down..Its time for a the WEALTHY NORMAL citizens living up in the very nice apartments that surround this eye sore, disgusting drugs swap meet, this toilet full human trash who are destroying this area,time for you to step up and speak up at City Hall,make noise, you are the ones that they listen to.. keep in mind the longer you sit silent thinking the liberals will eventually take care of the problem they created by enabling this, that these addicts want treatment like the media has you believing, as each day passes your resale value DECLINES...!

Lots of people always hanging outside leaving trash. There is always a pile of trash outside and they don’t put in enough effort to clean it up.

For no provoked reason the cashier had an attitude right off the bat and was cussing at me before he kicked me out of the store for taking a picture. which i usually share vegan finds with my followers and friends. I bought these specific noodle bowls here while a cool chick was workin. They are vegan and on sale so I bought several. Came back to use the microwave and buy a drink for lunch. he said no outside food. ok but i bought this here and i plan on making another purchase. Then he started trippin and i went outside to wait until people left. no other plaid pantry lovations or cashiers have ever had an issue. usually they are pretty cool and i frequent these shops. this guy looked like he was sick off drugs or something which would explain the bi polar emotional upheavel and calling a customer names, yelling and cussing. Not once did i raise my voice or drop to his level, i just asked why. then he got worse and told me to take a pic of him and kicked me out. lolol this has never happened. I took a pic of the noodle bowl on the shelf and i went to talk to him and he started trippin out. Beware. looks like yhis employer needs to do more screening when it comes to employees. drugs and emotional stability. take your bs out in a healthy way, not some random customer who stopped in for lunch. i also have video after he gave me permission to take his phoro. smh

I am a regular. I haven't been able to go there myself because of mobility issues but when I sent someone at 9:50, he said he was told very rudely, "We close at 10 just like all the other nights " There was absolutely no reason for my friend to be treated so poorly.COVID is still real yes but y'all need to stay open until the posted time.Google says 12am.

If you love gaggles of addicts out front, staff that is clearly "sick of this s***", and all the blending of Portland's myriad of problems like gentrification and homelessness appearing on a single street corner then this is the spot for you. They have everything; beer, cookies, microwavable dinners, hobos, entitled university students, affluent people who "just can't quit smoking"...So if you want a convenience in the heart of the city that is inspired by the clash of rich and poor, this Plaid Pantry won't disappoint.

Great downtown spot for some convenient and quick items, and the service has been fast and about what you'd expect. We live nearby and love the Plaid Pantry for drinks, treats, and snacks, as do the little kids. ♥🥤🍭🍬 🍪

I didn't think I would find a Plaid worse than the one closest to my house, but here we are. The employees are no help, and yet you are REQUIRED to access their help in order to shop here. Dude said he was gonna ring me up and then immediately walked away. Well, newsflash, literally everywhere in this city is hiring. If you hate your job, just get a new one.

I was just down there. An African American man tried to shoplift a pack of Truly. The clerk got into a verbal altercation with the man and at the end of it said "You're nothing than a n*gger." He has short dark hair and is tall.

Plaid Pantry! Hmm, I read some of the reviews and shook my on a few. I recently just moved to this area from not very far from here where it's truly scary. One block south of Burnside on 13th.I've been coming here to Plaid since I got here first week of June. I've had nothing but courteous clerks, friendly faces behind the counter as well as out on the floor. The clerks have been helpful, patient and given information when requested.As far as the Homeless outside, I've been Homeless 3 times. I had a part time job and received a government check, SSI. However, I could never save enough $$ the put an outrageous amount for 1st & last month rent+deposit and still pay rent where I am. I've also been Drug Addicted many times. I've Wandered aimlessly about on the Planet LOST several times! I've been Thrown Away by others too, Family.The Homeless, The Addicted, The Lost and the Thrown Away as if they a Piece of Garbage are . . ... . . . . . "PEOPLE !!" . .. . . .People who need a, "Hand Up," not a, "Hand Out!!" Most of them would agree with that phrase. These People haven't given up on Life. These People have given up on THEMSELVES!! This is worse and has worse consequences.. I have a great deal of Empathy! I help when I can which was just last night. I gave a man at the church a Blanket, Water and Man's Sweater. I'll ask the question to ALL!!"In What Ways Have You Helped Our Homeless People So Far ?"What Have You Done This Week To Help Anyone Who's Been Displaced Due To Covid?""What Are You Going To Do Today To Help Someone Who Is Homeless?"I'll leave saying, Plaid Pantry sees a lot more tragedy, sadness, sickness,(mind&body) violence, crime and downright Pain than most of you do. Always damaged glass, homeless are always outside making a huge mess, begging for money, or harassing customers and nothing is done. Not open 24hrs like most plaid pantry stores in a popular area.Edit,Response from plaid pantry is the same thing they say to all reviews, nothing will be done, you’re all talk no walk!

Sadly, this is the grungiest convenience store I've been to in a very long time. It makes the 7-Elevens look posh by comparison. The clerk was polite, but it looked like he was alone.

Ok. But spent time being a security guard when I wasn't on shift or work for this location. Love the workers, not too fond of some of the thief populous that enter. And then when they do pay, they complain about the high prices. Stop stealing and they could lower prices. Js

The employee that was previously complained about in a review 3 months ago should NOT be working a customer service position. The young Asian or Latino man with the chin length hair. The previous reviewer posted a photo of him! I came to this Plaid location to make a purchase but my card was declined since apparently just running the card charged me 25 cents and I no longer had enough to make my purchase. I went outside to the front and had a moment. I yelled out several times as I'd been having a horrible day and this was just the cherry on top. At one point I accidentally hit the glass with my hand and this man then came out immediately and told me to "get the h-- out of here" and then proceeded to call the police on me. When I told him that I hit the glass on accident he then yelled over me and told me to "shut the f--- up" several times. I asked what kind of customer service worker was he to treat long time customers in such a horrible manner. He continued to yell and swear at me. I've never had any issues with this store or employee in the past and I am appalled that I was treated so horribly by someone who is supposed to be acting professionally. Who cares if there someone upset and yelling outside your store! That does NOT give an employee the right to come and swear at them. I did nothing illegal and this employee handled the situation in the worst way possible. This not acceptable behaviour on behalf of a customer service worker and any other company would terminate an employee for treating people in such a manner. I will no longer be giving this location my business.

Lovely gentleman, always lovely to stop in and say "hi" to familiar faces/owner. Genuinely cares about his customers as well as employees. We are all doing the best we can with what we've got!(says my great-grandmother! Perhaps there is truth to this statement..? Indeed.) Owner is full of spirit and good laughs. :) :P In addition, safety is #1 here (physical, mental, etc..) and considers not only safety of store-employees - but, the houseless folk/any "outsiders" who "hang-around" (as some will put it.) I have been houseless for 4 1/2 years and am obtaining housing soon and have appreciated you, sir, and what you do for the community/young houseless folks as far as visiting your store. (some of my friends namely. They agree!, Too!) this Plaid overall is not so gloomy as one may think. Open your mind up, say hello to your neighbors and have a good laugh/perhaps share of a story with this rad owner - you may walk out with more than just your order - a smile/good feeling in your heart. 😍Much love! :)

This INconvenience store on the corner. Their hours are now 6am - 10pm.I find myself shopping at Safeway more because its more convenient and I don't have to wait for someone to open the beer/wine coolers so I can buy something.

Edit: The addition of an overnight window was an appreciated touch. There had been no word or posting of this in the works when I wrote this. It seems I may have misjudged the reasoning behind the changes. That's on me.Cutting your hours of operation does a disservice to the residents of this city. All other Plaids are 24 hours. Why are you punishing us for living downtown? We have no other food store at this hour and if you open at 6am that's WHEN Safeway opens rending your convenience store obsolete. How is this convenient for us? Safeway closes at midnight and opens at 6.

Ive always encountered nice service at this plaid. the employees are really funny and laid back but don’t get paid enough to deal with all the bs of downtown that they receive every day!! There’s a taller dude with long blonde curly/wavy hair who is always friendly no matter the day. I think his name is Timmy or Tommy or something.To the people leaving bad reviews..How would you feel working at a plaid pantry in the heart of downtown portland during a pandemic?

Most of the tellers are very friendly and helpful. Just recently, however, I noticed that they had overcharged me for some drinks. When I pointed out the overcharge, the teller said that there must have been a mistake in the system and that she could not refund the overcharged amount. So 99% of the time, they offer great service and prices. Just look out for the scams.

I rarely go into this Plaid Pantry mostly because Safeway is across the street and some lowlifes tend to hand out in the lot and harass people. But they do have some tasty cookies that a whole bag cost less then 2 in a machine. The one thing I can say if they have always had wonderful clerksl.

One of the scariest Plaid Pantries in the area. If urban blight and high levels of houselessness causes you anxiety, you won't be comfortable being in the vicinity. Also, don't park here just to go to the Amazon Hub across the street - management gets real cranky about it.

Staff is horrible here, gave me the wrong flavor of Juul Pods. I understand their policy does not allow them to exchange tobacco products. However the associates themselves were unapologetic, unsympathetic and unhelpful. Even though it was THEIR mistake.Make sure you check your tobacco purchases before leaving the store, since the associates clearly don't care about accuracy. :(

You could have gotten 5 stars, but you didn't. You got 1 star because your store always allows meth and drug addicts to loiter outside your doors. You have heroine junkies, bums, disgusting and filthy dirty people crawling all over your property. they're in your store, they get in the way, they waste everyone's time, take up lots of time, commit crimes, steal, talk to people when you're outside. Get rid of your transients, vagrants, and drug addicts! I actually WALK FURTHER to go to better stores that don't have drug addicts and vagrants crawling around outside their doors. You COULD have gotten 5 stars. You got 1. after I seen that you don't have drug addicts & vagrants outside or inside your store anymore for months, I'll reconsider editing my response. But you still won't be getting 5, the best you'll get from me is 3, because this is something NOBODY SHOULD EVER HAVE TO TELL YOU!!
