Erin is a fantastic groomer! The whole crew there is very kind and helpful. My Welsh Terrier Emrys has a lot of allergies and even though it must pain Erin to shave his bottom lip and not have him be exactly breed standard Erin has never complained and Emrys always comes out looking great! They are very good at keeping us in the loop and helping us make decisions about what would be best for the groom of my pups!We have a new welshie puppy that has been mouthing Emrys nonstop and so they helped us decide to just go with a puppy style cut on Emrys for now since the puppy was causing mats on his fur. They have also done incredible puppy happy visits with our puppy Momo to get her used to the shop and grooming experience. Overall we are incredibly satisfied and will continue going back as long as they'll have us!

This place is filled with love and professionalism. I can't say enough about Coat & Tails. They clearly love the animals and treat them with such grace. Thank you Mykie for fixing our pup’s bad haircut! If you have a collie or sheltie, this is the place to go! My mistake was going somewhere else. Mykie was able to blend the patches of fur on her and clean up areas the previous groomer missed.

I loved them for years, but the past year or more has been very hit or miss. The groomer I've scheduled for isn't always who we get, and as a result, we've received incomplete cuts and even a nicked ear. When told, that amateur groomer said my pom was too difficult before another staff member finally stepped in to complete his cut. The nicked ear was the final straw - after healing, it doesn't stick up anymore. No one responded or apologized. In both cases, I had already paid and tipped before picking up (they had my card on file). We've found a better shop that charges a bit more but is well worth a consistent cut, and better piece of mind that my dog is being treated kindly.

My Riley Roo is one terrified little pup and the folks over at Coats and Tails get her nails done like the champs they are!! The staff is super personable, kind and quick with the nail trim. 10/10.

Erin and her staff are world-class, they are diligent, professional, timely- and most importantly, take great care of your dog while being groomed. I had a tough time finding a quality groomer, and this is the spot to go in Portland, don't know what we would do without Erin & crew!

I had taken my dog here several times through this last year. Today I had the most horrible service It absolutely broke my heart to see what they were putting my dog through. We left with my dog choking and terrified. Before the nail technician had taken my dog I explained in great detail that my dog is a senior dog blind and has hip problems (I tell every technician about my dog's needs) the front desk girl reassured me that they would take good care of my dog . The girl that had taken my dog to do his nail trim did not handle him with caution or care there was no consideration to the needs that I had requested for my dog. I immediately asked for someone to help the nail technician with my dog then it just got worse from there and I had to stop the both of them from proceeding to harm my dog any further. If you have an aging pet, do not take them here! They do not take into consideration your request or your dog's needs .

Excellent groomers! All of the dogs I saw being groomed here looked happy and beautiful. My boy is very pleased with his fur cut and so am I! It was worth the wait to get on the calendar.

Absolutely terrible staff. First of all they were choking my dog while trying to do his nails after I have informed them several times that my dog Wilbur has never used a neck leash in his life and doesn't understand to not pull. They treat him rough every time we are in there and they have no consideration for the dogs health and well-being. I called to talk to the staff about this and she hung up on me. I need to know the owners name of this shop and I need an explanation why my dog was treated this way. If you love your dog DO NOT BRING THEM TO THIS SHOP.

My little doggie was well taken care of by Reba, she is thorough, quick and confident in her approach with my trembling shy girl. I am very grateful for her kindness and we will absolutely be back..My only encouragement as far as the environment is that is really wreaked of urine and was stuffy in such a tiny place.

Coats and Tails very generously donates grooming services to Autism Service Dogs of America and every time I have taken a dog in, they’ve done a wonderful job. They do such great work here and take good care of the pups. I highly recommend them!

They always take such amazing care of my dog! She’s a French Bulldog and always comes back happy and clean! She’s a nightmare to trim her nails but they always got it done. Definitely recommend😊

I've been taking my dog to Erin and her team at Coats & Tails for at least eight years and I've always had a great experience. They work with my schedule, always provide my pup with a nice tight fade, and the cost is reasonable. Highly recommend them.

I really like this place , I am giving it 2 stars only because they cut my dogs nail too far each time and make her bleed every single time. I’m not sure if this is normal or why they can’t do it without making her bleed. We even tried trimming the nails to filing them instead but still without fail they make her bleed. It’s very unfortunate because I do like this place, wish they could just cut her nails without hurting my dog. I will have to find a new place that hopefully won’t do this to my pet.

This place is amazing! The staff is super friendly and they are one of the only places I’ve found in Portland that can schedule a nail trim with just a couple days notice. They’re always so gentle and patient with my little dog.

I have a Keeshond and if you know anything about double coated breeds, you know how hard it is to groom them fully by yourself, or find a groomer you can really trust to do a good job. The coat generally can’t be cut/shaved and the undercoat needs quite a bit of maintenance. We went in for her first appointment after quite a while of me nervously trying to find a reputable groomer (our previous groomer claimed to know the breed well but definitely didn’t do the job right) and Caitlin (I think) worked on her for 4 straight hours- that’s hard work, y’all. Erin, the owner, even stepped in to help at the end, and talked to me personally about how things went. She had quite a bit of undercoat that needed to be brushed out and couple problem areas with some matting. They were able to get a TON of both out without needing to trim, and were all so kind, considerate, and knowledgable and took such good care of her. They worked so hard to make sure she was going be comfortable and healthy.Her fur feels AMAZING and I am so happy to have finally found a place that can really take care of her coat the way she needs.I swear she feels like 5 pounds lighter. She also seemed so much less stressed than when she went to a groomer before, even after 4 hours of brushing. I am definitely looking forward to bringing her back. I really can’t thank these folks enough for giving me such peace of mind.

Amazing talented group of artistic groomers! Nice little upscale boutique shop, like taking your fur kid to a relaxing, high end quality hair salon. Not a chaotic loud noisy retail chain pet store. If you are looking for the best cut possible for your dogs breed you can't go wrong here. Magicians with scissors. Highly impressed by what I saw and absolutely recommend for all breeds.

They are THE BEST!!! I went to pick up my dog and she came back looking gorgeous. She smelled very good and the cuts are very clean. She came home looking like a show dog. The only flaw is that it was a little pricy but in the end it was totally worth it! Everyone’s so nice and they do a great job. I am so happy with what they have to offer.

My dog doodle is a husky and fluff mix . He started losing his winter coat a week ago . Dog hair became not just an accessory but also a condiment . It was a terrible existence .Caitlin was scheduled for doodle and I am so happy with the results. He had never been to a professional groomer before , and I have never seen him look so great ! Even he looks like he’s feeling himself . Thank you Caitlin for dealing with his personally during a new experience and taking good care of him . He looks and is acting like a whole different dog .

I loved this place! Very friendly, fast and efficient. I had my dog's nails high-powered trimmed and they used a dremel and it took like two minutes and my dog's nails were nicely trimmed and very smooth! I will continue to rely on Coats and Tails. Very accomodating and professional staff.
