Dr Lu and vet tech Aaron were able to squeeze us in same day and then spent over 3 hours with us yesterday diagnosing and caring for our very sick cat. They were so kind and compassionate while taking care not to delude us into thinking the situation was more hopeful that it was. They even called this morning to see how overnight went. We cannot express our gratitude for them enough. Your pet is in great and caring hands at this facility and especially with Dr Lu and Aaron.

Clean space, quick service, knowledgeable staff, and the only vet my skittish rescue cat actually purrs for! My cats have had a couple issues requiring vet visits and the staff here have always listened and responded to my questions/concerns, offered options for care, and shared their advice. They also don't push products on you, and they don't hesitate to share if there is a better solution/treatment elsewhere, even if they won't make any money off that rec.Their prices are on the higher end compared to my last few vets (tech visit with an annual rabies vax costs $105/cat, and physical checkup visits are $89 I think?) but the quality care is worth it imo.

I’ve taken my dog to many vets in his lifetime and this one is far and away my favorite. Everyone here is extremely kind - always prioritizing his comfort. They never force anything with my very anxious dog. They literally bend over backwards to avoid traumatizing him. I couldn’t be happier with the service and care here.

I wish that I could still recommend this place, but since they were sold, they have been super hard to deal with. they have cancelled appointments due to weather, when there was no weather issue. When they cancelled that last appointment, they never contacted us for a new appointment as promised. Today, I found out that they cancelled my auto shipment of a special urinary diet for my cat, that they wanted him to be on for life. They cancelled because they wanted to see my cat before approving this special diet (that they prescribed for life) but did not contact me about seeing him. It appears to be more about the money than the care of the animals.

The angels at this cat-only veterinary hospital are the best people ever. I adopted two senior cats last year, knowing that I was also adopting their aging health problems. Cat Hospital has been kind and thorough with their car and works hard to make sure I’m informed and prepared for any care they need. I have experience both regular/preventive care visits as well as emergency care visits and I’ve been very pleased with their service and the overall experience.

Wonderful group of people! Kind, patient, helpful....Tech David is great!; Bailey the nail tech is amazing! My pup literally panics at nail clippings but with Bailey he is almost calm - she is magical......this group charges a bit more than other vets, but it's worth the extra care and Bailey's expertise.

The staff at Cat & Dog Hospital of Portland have taken very good care of our dog Coco. I always feel like we are getting honest advice, and never pressured to do unnecessary tests or procedures. Prices are not too expensive compared to other providers, and it is pretty easy to schedule appointments. Our dog actually loves going to the vet because they are very sweet to him, and give him lots of treats while doing exams and administering shots. The vet provides comprehensive notes after each visit, and their app and website are easy to use. I would highly recommend Cat & Dog Hospital to anyone looking for high quality care for their pet.

Not only have the people here been helpful and kind, but the clinic is quaint, real, and very clean. This clinic has all the upgrades and ammenties of a corporate clinic, without the "sterile" feeling from the staff. They always know who I am and remember everything from previous visits!I'm so happy to support them, as they are the epitome of an amazing local business. Customer service is perfection. I told them I prefer email correspondence, so they email me results and statements! They don't call me so much that I am bothered, however, when I need to get in touch with them for a question, they are available. Also, prices are comparable to everywhere else I have been.-I was with a corporate vet for a while, and I never felt like anyone knew who I was. I was constantly re-explaining what my cat needed to every new doctor and relaying information between their doctors!!-Tl;dr. If you like good customer service in a clean, happy, cutting edge vet, take your cats here! :)Pictured: "Baker" the very polite cat who lives at the clinic!

Update: We've had an appointment and it was the best veterinary experience I've ever had. They were very thorough and explained everything well. The cost caught me off gaurd initially, but considering the cost of supplies and the quality of the care, it's 100% worth it. Thanks to their detailed care, they discovered my kitty has a developing thyroid disorder. Which seems to be easily treatable.They've been extremely helpful in accommodating my financial situation as well. I wish I could leave a second 5 star review.Stan is also very grateful.

These folks have been taking care of me and my cat since before I pulled her off the street, but it's always nerve-wracking to see a new vet. I'm pleased to report that Dr. Lu is perhaps our favorite vet yet - a very high bar to clear! He takes as much time as is needed to explain my cat's needs, listens and validates my concerns, and clearly cares very deeply about his patients and their owners. The techs and receptionists are friendly, knowledgeable, and gentle. We are lucky to have them! Thanks to Dr. Lu and the whole team for everything they do!

Took my cat into the hospital today for a new patient exam. They were on time, thorough and very helpful. I was impressed that they were really communicative and very caring towards the cat. They did not seem at all rushed, even in this busy time. Earlier in the week I called with a question and they promptly returned the call and had lots of good suggestions. I feel so lucky to have this business in the neighborhood!

Great doctor despite my cat being a literal demon at the office. She was also thoughtful and explained quite a bit.Update: I've been going for over 2 years and have seen different doctors there. One of my cats may leave us to live with her vet and the other is a terror but they're still so good with her. They have been consistently transparent about costs and continue to provide great care. I'm glad we see them.

Awesome vet, it's super convenient if you live in sellwood. Everyone is super nice and friendly. They also normally have early appointments that are open slots each day in case you have something urgent. My cat is not nice to the vet ( his file says "I'm sassy" but it should probably I will hiss and growl the whole time) but they have always been patient and kind with him and try their best to help him calm down.

I have struggled with whether or not I would review the doctor who treated my dog here, but decided it was far too important to give other's my information so they can make informed decisions in their pet's health care.I just deleted details of our experience to simply say, Make Sure Your Doctor is Listening and Understands Exactly What You Are Saying About Your Dog's Health!! My dog suffered from an eye infection that caused her pain and would have caused blindness had we continued seeing him at this clinic. Thankfully I followed my gut and took her to a vet who understood the problem, and properly treated it!  It's taken over 3 months of treating her to finally get rid of the infection but we finally got it.

Dr. Steve is by far the best vet I’ve ever experienced. He’s so friendly and takes the time to really talk to you about your pet. You can tell he truly cares and that is such a rarity in this industry. We will follow him wherever he ends up.

Great experience! Love having a place that is tailored just to cats to help avoid nervous waiting room experiences. Was immediately shown a private room where our floof ball could roam freely. Staff were very gentle and calm, answering all questions, and giving clear instructions. Great find!Update: after a year of taking our pets here, I can truly say this is the best place for cats in Portland. Treatment plans are very transparent and clearly shown for you to decide which works best for your pet and your budget. They are very up front about which treatments are more urgent with no pressure either way. Very patient staff, very helpful, and we always receive follow up phone calls to check on our pet's status.

They have strong specialized cat experience, which is helpful for evaluating unusual cat behaviors and medical issues. They are more expensive than other vets I've been to in Portland area...30-50% more. One lab test was priced double! I'm not sure the care & interactions I had were worth this price. Staff seemed a bit harried, not confident, unapologetic, and unaware of the customer's experience here...going through the motions with limited care, concern. I'd like to believe my pet received good care (but I couldn't see because of covid protocol), but based on my customer experience I think it can be much better. Also, the website is disappointing and in need of updating. Surprisingly, it does not show the current veterinarians...customers use this information to help select a vet they want to work with. It's also nice to have technicians on the website & helps us become more familiar with staff. Lots of potential here, but they need to reorganize and retool things a bit to be a top quality place commensurate with their pricing.UPDATE Sept 2020: the vet contacted me after-hours on two occasions to review treatment options and lab results in detail because she didn't have time to discuss during the day. Given how late it was, she was surprisingly unhurried, thorough, patient, and detailed. I appreciate having this access to the vet and I'm mindful of how tiring it can be to work late into the evening. Impressively committed.

I am so glad this place is now seeing dogs. I took my little chihuahua in for an ear infection, as I was able to get a same day appt. (they reserve one per day, must call at 8:00 when they open). My dog was very nervous, but they were great and treated her so well, no rushing through. She also got a nail trim as well. The staff are wonderful and caring, you can tell they love animals. Dr. Gadwood was awesome. I highly recommend this place!

I love Cat Hospital of Portland! Warm and friendly, and I like that they're a cat focused clinic. I was only able to experience curbside/low contact vet visits because of COVID (they picked my kitten up from the car and I stayed in the car) and it went very smoothly. Looking forward to seeing them again for another checkup soon.

We have taken our two cats here for 13 years. Clearly we are pleased with their care. The doctors snd assistants ALL are very caring and thorough in their exams. They treat the cats as if they are very special (which, of course, they are 😂). We recommend the C&D Hospital with complete confidence.

An honest review... I did not have a great experience here. Overpriced, unprofessional and impersonal. I’m sure I’ll get lit up by the owner of this to save face in this review, but I’m not here to cause trouble. I would not recommend this place to anyone.I’ve grown up having cats and even worked at a lot of animal shelters in Oregon to save local wildlife. I’ve since moved to Portland southern Oregon. I’m not an expert but I think i could know enough to make an honest opinion on this place.It’s a awkward feeling then there are credit card machines in the examination room. I’ve never had that before. I paid over $500 for a routine check up just to be sent a diagnosis of my cat via email. You can’t call a patient? That’s kind of a big deal for your customers to have you walk them through the information. Your made to feel like you know nothing about your cat and the staff seems awkward and weird talking in baby voices and feeding your cat baby food. I get they are trying to make your pet feel comfortable but it just seemed weird.I felt so weird and frustrated by this experience that I talked to my previous vet to get a second option on the results. She was very confused by the diagnosis and the fact that certain thing were not highlighted. It seemed to be based on assumptions.Long story short - I’m trusting another vet that we’ve trusted for many year and getting care for our animal there.

I am so happy they have started seeing dogs. We recently adopted a rescue who is very anxious and fearful and the staff was great with her. They are very prompt at responding to my questions and were very up front about final costs before proceeding with any treatments. Definitely recommend!

I am a first time pet adopter and this was our first vet emergency. Payment is very up front, they explained everything and its level of urgency. The staff were all SO KIND and helpful. I highly recommend going here! They were so nice to my cat and handled her so well. I got to go back into the hospital and love on her while they drew blood and got a urine sample. She usually fights and struggles but she was calm and didn't pull away. They explained everything that they were doing and were so nice. They also helped with bringing down the cost by telling me what tests were necessary and what weren't necessary. Amazing place and amazing staff!

I love that this is a "cat only" hospital. I take both of my cats there. They are very compassionate and caring cat lovers. My 4 year-old cat was recently ill. They took very good care of him. He is doing well now. Today, someone who worked there, called to check on him. It was so sweet of her to take the time to check on his health!
