Absolutely horrible service. The worker showed us cats for half an hour stating these were available. and then told us they were not up for adoption after we chose a cat!! The only one that knew anything, about anything was the other older lady and she wasn’t friendly or open to people being there at all! I also witnessed people behind the fence yelling aggressively at one of the dogs while driving away! Absolutely awful experience. DO NOT GO TO PAWS IN PENDLETON!!!!

This is the nicest and cleanest shelter I have ever been to. I was there a couple days ago when I adopted our new kitten. Any staff we dealt with was extremely kind and considerate and you could tell they truly cared for and loved the animals there. All the animals were friendly and you could tell they were well cared for. It was also very clean!

Good people, the dogs are blessed to have this shelter. The manager is an upbeat person and her team really cares about the dogs and puppies who are being surrendered. Please adopt and don’t shop, the shelter needs more room for other pups and who are homeless. Dogs are angels on heaven🌍🌈⛅️ Let’s give back the unconditional love that they show us, everyday.🙏🏽💙P.S. I love my puppy Darla. She helped relieve my anxiety and depression, she never fails to comfort me when I’m sad, mad, or stressed. She’s my angel!🐶🐾

I got so lucky. I got sunny or, she adopted me. These kind ladies stayed open for me. I knew that I was already committed to her before I drove the 30 miles to get her. The people at the shelter were kind, efficient, and went beyond for me and Molly (we changed her name). Thank you again.Molly and Nicole

Clean and caring describes this no-kill shelter. I picked up a cute black kitten who is exploring her new home as I write this. I adopted Midnight under the Bissell Empty the Shelter program. Just $25.00 which includes spay or neuter, chipping and chip registration, food, shots and everything else. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. You could really tell that they cared about the animals in their care.

The staff was friendly, the building smelled awful as if animal feces was everywhere. Difficult to breath the stench was so thick. Most of the kittens were sick. I didn't bother visiting the dogs, poor things were barking the whole time I was in the. Building. The adult cats were friendly and adjusted but still skidish. The cats in the visiting room were sleeping and didn't seem to care either way if they were being pet or not. They were not very clean and they needed to be brushed. There was cat feces everywhere. I have decided not to adopt from Pendleton paws.

If you adopt an animal from this shelter, you better make sure it’s actually healthy. Paws adopted out a kitten to me ($145 with spay deposit included) who was infested with ringworm and had a respiratory infection. The kitten infected my other cat, myself and my husband. I complained to the shelter and they offered to take the kitten back, treat her and hold on to her until we had our house free of the fungal infection (Let me inform you that I was 33 weeks pregnant, now 35) a week and a half goes by and I get a phone call from a rude lady at the shelter demanding I come get the kitten. I tell them that I cant considering my home still has ringworm. After we dropped off the kitten at paws I took my other cat to the vet and got medication and topical cream for him, my husband and I went to the clinic and got topical cream for ourselves and were told it can take up to 2-4 weeks to get rid of the ringworm. I have to disinfect my whole home constantly to prevent the ringworm from spreading. I have asked the shelter for a refund for the kitten because I just don’t have anymore money to spend on this problem and I have spent over $145 on hospital bill, vet bill, prescriptions and disinfectant for my house and they are now ignoring me about a refund. They adopted out a kitten with a fungal infection, that infected my home and they can’t even give me a call back or message response on Facebook about a refund. So ridiculous!

Such a nice, clean facility run by friendly accommodating people. They had a wide variety of kittens to choose from. The staff was knowledgeable. Really appreciate that they are a no-kill shelter.

I'm a little shocked at how many people post complaining about costs. I've been searching for a dog and so far this is THE LEAST EXPENSIVE of every single one I've been to. Some rescues ask for $400 to $800 for a stray that's been rescued. Also, if you can't afford to buy food for your pet, you probably shouldn't have one in the first place. It is not a shelter's job to take care of an animal you welcome in to your family.

Tried to call about seeing a few of the dogs and the woman who answered the phone started asking about my living situation and what I was looking for. I told her which dogs I was interested in and that I lived in an apartment. She stated in a very rude tone that none of the dogs I was interested in could go to an apartment because they were too big. I told her that I was trying to get an ESA and her tone got even ruder. "Well, I wouldn't even approve the application because you live in an apartment!" Her exact words. I think I'll just wait for the right dog to come into the shelter here in La Grande cuz as someone who has depression, anxiety and high functioning autism, this call made me go into a panic attack and I had trouble calming down. I would never want to adopt from such a rude woman.

We rescued a dog from a bad situation and could not keep her ourselves, I called the humane society and the receptionist was the rudest, most unhelpful person. Absolutely appalling behavior.

I couldn't be more biased because I use to work here, but I know they really go out of their way to give these poor homeless animals the best care and comfort as possible. They do their best to find them good homes, foster homes and medical care.

They do a lot to keep the place running on a zero budget. Somehow need to secure more funding for the joint. In desperate need of an update.

Went in on a Saturday needing dog food. They refused to give me food. Said I had to come back Monday. The day they give out food. Thanks for caring so much about my dogs. Have no way to come back monday but staff did not care.

The front desk lady was very off putting . Terrible terrible service. Showed extreme mistreatment of the animals we surrendered. Disgusting behavior for someone who works for an animal rescue.

I heard from a friend of a friend that the people here refused to sell to a black man because he was black. Also heard that they put animals down despite being a no-kill shelter.

Called lots of times, took forever to get a call back (at least a week), and when we finally got one call back, the lady was very rude. Only redeeming factor is the fact that they are willing to take care of animals which others may not be able to take care of.
