We needed to make a quick stop to get fine wine to take back to our hotel room, and we reluctantly went to this store as we had never heard of it - the name threw us off "thrift". To our surprise, the wine selection was impeccable. Honestly, get your wine here if you are passing through Newport and/or staying nearby. Very clean store, spacious.

Growing up in the retail grocery business with my Father as Managers of many franchise locations, I am amazed at how bad the customer service and how upset and angry the employees are at this location. The meat department has serious customer service issues with the men. The ladies are great. I used to go to get my burger here but will be going elsewhere where customer retention is a premium. relying on the onslaught of tourists is not a way to be a community shopping place for locals.

I was a 15 year customer of the J-C Market. Great service, owners, friendly staff, full shelves, fair pricing. New owners and WOW is this a new place. Some of the same employees as before, they are trying to be positive but meet one outside in town and they all say the same thing, new owners are poor business people,not employee friendly. Store is dirty, lots of empty shelves, meat used to be prime now is ??. The steak I bought was to tough to eat, fed to my dog. Produce looks like had been there to long. I moved to the Toledo store that was a former J-C they are a great place to shop .The checker there had worked in Newport and moved here and even with the drive is a great place to work. I'll not be back.I put one star because you have to check something.

Mckay's just took over in Newport about 2 months ago and it's clean and friendly staff. Was up visiting and decided to buy some steaks, not only do they Cut their own meat, everything was clean. Found out they smoke meat there as well. That's awesome. I also got some goodies and a cinnamon roll from the bakery. It's not bad. I'll have to say. Can't wait to see all the improvements coming to the Mckay's new/old store.

Had bad experience went through young lady's line and pretty rude too other employees and like too treat others their different, and when I got out too my vehicle and I see her on her phone that looks bad on the company. She should not be on her phone. And I have caught her talking sexualy too other people. They lady does not know how too take her job seriously. Thank good she does not work for me because she would been fired fast.

Don’t expect good service nor any type of customer service other than the worst imaginable. Anticipate higher than average prices and the deli section being obsolete or pickings you wouldn’t want to pay for.

I'm disappointed in the new hours, but otherwise the change hasn't been too bad. Unfortunately, those new hours mean that those of us that get off at eleven are out of luck trying to get groceries on our way home.

The prices are higher, the service is roughly the same (They kept most of the staff) but not having 24 hours anymore takes away the main reason I shop there. Annoying new 'rewards' system they try to push as a personal information farm.

they do care about the customers. i cam very early in the morning with a bike I could not leave outside in such surroundings. They nicely placed it in the store while I ate my breakfast on the bench inside. The breakfast was edible. Thank you

Its a nice local store. If you order from the deli make sure to ask for a togo box! Otherwise they put your fried chicken / Burritos / Jojos / Strips / Everything in a plastic sealed bag! Am i the only one that thinks a plastic sealed bag doesn't belong with fried food? Especially at the coast. That plastic bag doesn't need end up in our ocean.

Deli food inside is good. The staff is very friendly as well. I enjoyed the service the deli lady gave. She was the best part of the store.

Talk about price gouging. There is absolutely no reason anyone should pay more than $3 for a can of soup. There is no justifiable reason a working class human should pay more than $3 for a single frozen burrito. There should be people going to jail for charging more than $8 for a bag of cat food that a month ago was $5.This is obscene. Its greedy. It's the reason children go to bed hungry.How are people supposed to feed their families when corporations raise prices for no other reason than greed.EAT THE RICH.

So I showed up in my Camper Van at 2am. I bought groceries from the store several times while I was parked there. I was leaving at 10am. I have multiple sclerosis. The 4 times I did buy from the overpriced store, I was on crutches. 930 am. A knock on the window by the owner I guess. Told me it was time to leave. As I was already leaving at ten for a road trip, I was just getting ready to shop for the road trip. Whoever asked me to leave is nothing more than a bully. The entire store is overpriced but I did the right thing and patronized his business while I parked. He was very aggressive toward me like I was causing a disturbance or had done it a lot in the past. This is the first time I parked in his parking lot. Ever. I said, no problem. I'll leave. I was just waiting on a phone call. And he continued to lecture me on how long I had been there. I told him I was leaving and that he did not need to be so aggressive. This store wreaks of greed.

Asked employee a question they just looked at me and walked away. No one at service desk and no money O. Not a smile from anyone and old man checkr tossing my stuff and other people s too. No thank you for shopping here

JC Market is a local, hometown market with plenty of help available for question answering. They have a great bakery, nice produce, great meat and seafood, a post office/UPS station, a bill pay option and a nice deli.They have a nice selection of gluten free crackers and cookies as well as some breads and pastries and some items in freezer section too.There is always staff in the meat/fish, floral and bakery so you can get what you need. I enjoyed speaking with Joey, the Produce Manager, who was very helpful with my watermelon questions.They offer sales each week and, while some prices may be lower elsewhere, their customer service is worth the pennies.The heavy duty re usable plastic bags they offer are larger and better than any other local store as well.Shopping at JC Market Thriftway reminds me of an old fashioned shopping experience where you really feel valued as a customer and the staff is knowledgeable, friendly and willing to take you to an item. If you call to ask about a product, they go find what you need and hold it.I was using the electric cart the last time I shopped. The checker, without my asking, called for help out for me. I rode my cart, he followed me, put my bags in the car and took the cart back into the store. All without me having to ask or wait.I was impressed and grateful.Also, they must be doing something right...I see staff working there for many years and they appear to be well, if not fully, staffed.When I travel I like shopping in a local store so I get the flavor of the area where I am a visitor. I can always hit the corporate big stores that are everywhere, but supporting local businesses is important to me.When you shop at JC Market Thriftway you feel like you are home.They also support local charitable organizations.Thanks JC Market!

This is my favorite place to buy meat in Newport. They have the widest selection of meat in their case including Goat most of the time. The produce is fresh & well stocked. The Deli is a good place to grab something quick if you're running short of time. The folks behind the counter are accommodating to your needs. Store and Parking Lot are Clean and easy get on and off Highway 101. The Best Thing Is They are Locally Owned So Your Money Stays In Lincoln County.

Hi. I'm the one who tossed the chicken strip order back to your deli employee and then said " Sorry, changed my mind". I have over 15,000 views of my reviews at last count. I always am able to find something positive to say in my reviews. It's rare that I have a negative review. Etiquette is important in the service industry. It was beyond lacking today. The problem is that people take it for granted because of the high traffic from tourism and the holidays. I can understand a lot of things. Poor customer service and a bad attitude because of the volume of customers isn't one of them. I took my business elsewhere and will continue to do so. Hopefully I have saved people some time and money from a bad experience.

A great place for quick shopping, large shopping and even breakfast/lunch/dinner meals from the Deli! The employees are always hospitable and considerate of our needs as shoppers. I have personally worked with the owner/manager of the store, and he and his wife are a great role model for their employees, and it shows! A nice little spot in Newport right across from Shell gas station!

Didn't know Thriftway stores were still around, our clerk told us the few left were independently owned and operated.It was also a pleasant surprise to see they're open 24 hours... Rare in this day and age for a larger grocery store.Found what we needed and enjoyed our short chat with the clerk.

The deli chicken tenders! Wow!We were just passing through and needed a place to grab food with a parking lot big enough for our truck and toy hauler. We grabbed some chicken tenders and jojos from the deli. I think they were the best chicken tenders I've had in my life. (Also awesome honey mustard). Super friendly woman working in the deli too. Nice stop!!

Pretty decent selection, they carry the basic stuff anyways (if you're looking for some exotic Asian spice better go somewhere else). They always seems to have markdowns on meats and produce which is awesome for me--I buy this at a discount and cook it that very night which saves me $$ :) They have a walk in beer cooler with a decent beer selection--most of them local beers. And they're open 24 hours.

Great wine and beer selection. Good prices on beef and chicken, I don't buy pork. Lots of interesting stuff in the produce section. The rest can be a bit pricy, but it's truly local and the employees are great!

Why bring a bunch of food with you to the coast when you can stop here. Absolutely love the pepperoni and beer dogs. Wonderful seafood and great wine selection. The doughnuts are really good too. All the staff are helpful and friendly.
