I was recently looking for heavy-duty hinges for a barn gate. The lady at the counter was helping another customer, said she would be right with me and told me where I could find them. Within just a few moments she joined me, showed me the exact thing I was looking for and the two options available. She even printed out the specs for each of the two to help me decide. She helped me find the correct screws to finish the job. I commented to her that I seldom find such helpful service, and she replied, "That's our goal every day." I will definitely be returning there often.

Great local shop. Staff is always attentive and very helpful. They also carry a wide variety of items that can help complete most small to medium home improvement tasks. Nice alternative to the large chain stores and a great way to support the local community and families.

For a quick local stop for bits and pieces you might need for your home or apartment, this place is great. They also did a great job fixing our screen door! Just don't expect them to be a Big Box chain store with everything under the sun, that's not their gig.

Great, friendly, and the best customer service you'll ever find. Last night I came by a half hour after they closed for a very small item. They opened the doors and were happy to help me.Another time, when they didn't have what I needed, they took the time to call around to other local stores until they found what I was looking for. Small town service at it's very best!

I went there with my sister looking to buy 4 feet of 4 inch PVC pipe to use with several different plastic adapter pieces that I had bought at Lowe's (who hadn't been able to cut me up a pipe the day before😯).We were met at the door by Tom who took us back to the PVC pipes. Where we discovered the adapters Lowe's had sold us didn't fit regular solid wall PVC pipe. Tom explained it would be pretty expensive for me to replace all the pieces I'd already bought with the slightly larger heavier pieces required to fit the PVC pipe he carried.He said we really needed the styrene style and then suggested we might be able to get it at the hardware store in Independence. I mentioned that would be a good idea and next thing I knew Tom was on the phone checking with the other store to see if they had what we needed. When he finished his call he told us they had what we needed and gave us the "official name" of the pipe so we'd be able to let them know exactly what we wanted once we got there.Tom went above and beyond to help us be able to complete our project in a timely manner. You just don't see customer service like he delivered very often these days and we really think it makes Monmouth Hardware special!
