This is a nicer Safeway. It's not that old and has been updated already. They carry a lot of different items than Walmart, so you get variety. There's a real meat counter, too. Those are kind of going extinct, so it's a nice addition they have delivery and the app works very well with the store.

I’ve been shopping this store for many years. The staff is very helpful. The displays are nicely done. However, the bathroom is Filthy. This is a huge concern. The toilets in particular are not clean at all. People leaving behind their waste and it smells horrible. The worst part of this is, the food displays, deli, and Starbucks aren’t far at all from the bathrooms. There is a huge sanitary issue in the store. You have to keep things clean to prevent illnesses and bacteria’s. Please do something about this.

No checkers, long lines, incorrect prices make it impossible to use self check. Left over a hundred dollars worth of groceries on the counter! Is there any good time to shop at safeway?

When it came time to check out, I was prompted to fill out a quick survey. The cashier took it upon themselves to rotate the screen, select 10/10 - then proceeded to tell me that the survey was for the 'lane’ I was checking out in; not the physical store.Dumbfounded by what I just witnessed, all I could comment on was how that was ethically wrong, and that any choice was taken from me.The response I got? A shoulder shrug and a dismissive wave of the hand.The audacity.Sharing my concern with the management there, i was given this as answers:1) It's happened before.2) How this cashier obtained that information was beyond them.3) 'rest assured' something will be done.It was an utterly disappointing experience; as a member of the community of La Grande, I have nothing but shame that business practices like this exist.Update: Was asked to go over what I wrote and update as I see fit for "5 more arbitrary Google points"Okay.As of today, 3/26/24 - I went to get some items and there was one lane out of eight that were open and operated by a person; and the self checkout lane was available as well.Turns out, people are tired of self checkout. I don't work for Safeway, so there is no reason for me to check out my own goods.This has become a problem at this particular Safeway.So standing in line waiting, the only person working the lane calls for help, twice; to no avail. The individual who was observing the self checkout lanes came over to the line of people waiting, and exclaimed, "we have the self checkout lane if anyone is brave enough?"It takes bravery in order for me to use the self checkout lane?Absolutely wild.What an absolute joke.

Editing review after a few years of experience:Watch your receipt or go elsewhere. Many, many times your receipt will have the wrong price and you have been overcharged. Their system is horrible, they know it, and do nothing about it. It's criminal really. For the few that cash their mistakes, they will of course refund the difference. But there is no incentive really for them to get better or try harder. They get away with it more than they don't, so its free money to them. Tonight I brought in my receipt again, and after they have me my $4 back, they say they don't have a way to fix the error, so it will happen to everyone else.I'm going to check into this more with corporate.Old review:Nice store with the basic Safeway/Vons layout. Selection is decent, but are out of things quite often (but could be supply problems?)Nice deli and bakery selections. Decent prices for some things, but expensive for others (cereal and deodorant for example is outrageous).

Not even very busy at 7 pm.Pharmacist helped me when I had a seizure, ironically after getting my seizure meds. Stopped here overnight when the I84 shut down in both directions. Luckily, we found this safe haven with nice people and everything to make our night tolerable.

I have never had an issue at this location! During this shopping trip we went to the floral department.Sadly, the old florist isn't there and all the cut flowers and all potted plants looked sad. Especially the potted plants. Very under watered

Our local Safeway in La Grande, Or. The store is mostly clean and they have a good selection (Best Beer Selection in La Grand IMO).Three stars because the staff seem disinterested or outright annoyed sometimes even when asking simple questions, and because the prices are sometimes dramatically higher than the other grocery stores in the area.

There are two supermarkets in town Walmart and Safeway as of June 1st Walmart no longer guarantees satisfaction. Walmart used to guarantee low price if there was something cheaper at Safeway Walmart would match the price not anymore. In addition if Walmart overcharged on a product they had missed Mark in their store and you caught it which happens way more often then you think Walmart might give you the difference. Safeway on the other hand reimburses you 100% And you get the item for free which happens more than you think and Safeway their meat department and their produce are Far and Away better than Walmart Safeway app as cheap or cheaper than Walmart and it's not Walmart which means you don't have to park a country mile away and then walk three blocks for a gallon of milk and you get Safeway Rewards which means cheap gas

Worst experience shopping ever. My wife got her ankle ran over by a lady on one of the stores scooters at checkout. The individual then swore at her till I had to interject. The staff then took our grocerys and had us leave after calling the cops. Gordon Royal should be ashamed for his staffs lack of repsone and accountability for allowing someone to harm us with their equipment.

Horrible customer service all around! Waited for 25 minutes in the bottle room and had to ring three times. Two other customers had to call them as well and still we didn’t get assistance with the machines. Only when I called customer service on my phone did they say they would send someone to help. When I finally completed that’s, I went to cash in my ticket stubs and the checkout lady refused to acknowledge my presence. After waiting for another 5 minutes, continuously trying to speak with her, I just went to customer service. Absolutely horrible service. I only had $6.00 worth of cans, it should have never taken that long.Most definitely will NOT be returning

Safeway continues to please with great variety in a clean store, but continues to disappoint with advertised prices in the app. They are rarely correct and customer has to wait in line until manager gets there to approve the correct price. Some wait 15 minutes but for more than $9.00 the wait is worth it.

Nicest grocery store in Lincoln City with the biggest selection of produce, beer & wine, and snacks.The store is always clean and pretty well stocked. It's my preferred location to grab groceries in town

I generally love Safeway for its quality products and experience.However, this store generally makes me do several circles to find things. Sometimes it will be at the end of some random isle, or I need to walk across the whole store due to their strange layout with food on both ends of the store. Instead of a food section and a distinct other section.Today's shopping also noted several out of stock items. But, some of these will be restocked soon. So it is understandable that this happens on occasion.Overall, staff is courteous and store is well maintained. A pleasant experience for weekly needs.Also of note, this store offers gas at a discount with points.The side driveway is a bit steep and wouldn't recommend using it at all in the winter.

Now in my experience, weekends are popular for grocery shopping. So why were there only 2 cashiers and 2 lines of ten people each? And the self checkout was also completely full with a line. Not only that, fried chicken shouldn't taste like it was dipped in a salt vat.

I give Safeway a 5 star rating for their produce section, love their bakery, and the people who make things happen back in pharmacy.... Oh and who wouldn't like the buy 1 get 1 free in the meat dept? Or buy 2 get 3 free of this or that throughout the store?In produce you can find your favorite regulars or organic, great fresh meal kits (they put togher to keep their customers healthy and going), and various exotic fruits (YUMMY).SAFEWAY PHARMACY...They are amazing!The Pharmacist truly go the extra mile and for awhile understaffed. I don't know how they did it but they did (coming back every day with a smile and ready to go."SAFEWAY'S PHARMACIST ARE AMAZING"!

Not the friendliest checker. She's been there forever. We call her Karen. We only shop for the meat sale because of her.. I love the meat department. But the pharmacy is unprofessional and bias. They Wouldn't even waite on me . I dress as if I don't have a dime. I have plenty of money not being spent there. Just saying

Always very clean and beautifully stocked. With starbucks and the deli directly inside one door and the florist directly inside the other, you begin and end your shopping experience on a good note and the pharmacy staff is so wonderful, they take the time to get to know their customers by name.

the sandwich bar here is pretty much anti social and useless. I asked for a Phili cheese steak sandwich but the lady said if its not on the menu she can't make it. then I proceeded to ask for the only other non breakfast sandwich on the menu and she told me she doesn't have the meat for it. absolutely useless

You can tell management run the employees dry. Very sad environment and no one's happy to help you. Almost felt like I was treated as a criminal for asking why the deal on soda wouldn't ring up properly.
