I have adopted a few cats and dogs from them over the years and I've had nothing but great experiences with them. Every pet I bought has been in good health, spayed/neutered, chipped, and seemed well taken care of before coming home to live with us.Recently I have had to surrender 2 cats and 3 dogs due to a sudden death in my family. The staff at the shelter (as well as Dog Control) was very understanding, caring, and extremely supportive to me.

The staff was very kind, professional, and helpful when I was adopting my cat. The facility is clean and they take wonderful care of the animals there! If I adopt another cat, this is definitely where I’ll go.

The staff I called about bringing in a rescue cat is the rudest I have ever dealt with in my entire life. They obviously do not like animals. All they want to do is euthanize animals..not care for them.

Awfully rude staff over phone. I don't remember her name. I called today 12/08/2022 around 10:15 am. I do not easily complain or write bad reviews for services unless I am really frustrated. I was just trying to adopt a puppy. She says "If you don't hear back from us, it's a no". So I ask, how long should I wait to hear back from you. She does not want to give me a simple answer like 1 day, 2 days, one week and keep saying the same thing "If you don't hear back from us, it's a no." She was not letting me talk, ask my questions. She was acting like she is doing me a great favor!! I was trying my best to be polite and even asked her "Why are you being so rude?"If I was her boss, I would suspend her, show-cause her. She was so bad. I am a person who would not buy a puppy, not because I can't afford it, I just want to help the shelter puppies and kittens. I would still go to the shelter to adopt a dog/cat in future because I don't have grudge on them, but hell the employee should be asked seriously to correct herself, or should be given another job, not public relations. This really hurt me because adopting a fur baby should be joyful, not stressful.

This review is actually for the Freedom Dog Park affiliated with the Klamath Animal Shelter. Use of dog park a bit expensive but benefits the shelter and it's a nice, well maintained park that is leagues better than the free dog park (at least until they finish installations at the free one).

Had moved from up in the Valley to Klamath Falls. When switching vet offices. To take my two cats to get fixed. The nurses and doctors were extremely kind and were very good with my two cats. They also were very clear on the at home treatment for my cats too. Great veterinarian and will be sticking to our new vet offices.

Went there today with my client I am a DSP worker and the older bigger last at desk told us rudely that we can’t just do walk ins and to go on the web site and unless it’s a for sure thing to adopt a animal we don’t need to walk in we should be looking online only! And was very rude when my client asked about volunteer work there and basically cut her off in mid conversation.

First, this is a great humane society. Staff is nice and helpful. The reason I’m rating two stars is because the facility is closed to the public which makes it incredibly difficult to go and see any possible adoptable animals. It’s the main experience for adoption. Also the website isn’t always updated with all of the animals so even if you see some online it’s impossible to know if there are new ones currently. This facility used to be open to the public, but now that it isn’t I’ve adopted elsewhere. Good luck.

Lady answering the phone is rude. Get better costumer service. I had no problem walking into the shelter in Medford to see pets. Yet I would need to pick the animal I want to adopt, fill out paperwork before I can even meet them in person and schedule an appointment at the Klamath shelter....

The website is broken, but that's not the issue 😃 you can't go see the animals! Not even by appointment. If you call they will describe the breeds available to you; my assumption is they have never adopted a dog and don't understand that people want to meet them?

Must have an appointment to enter. Must select the pet your interested in before arriving.Seems kinda sketchy. As if they are hiding the conditions.I have gone into other shelters in S. Oregon thinking I wanted a cat, but ended up getting a dog and later also a cat I had seen.If you can't go around and see the pets, fewer will be adopted.

Crystal, Lashonda and Mikaela have been great! They've helped me immensely in my effort to get neighborhood strays spayed and neutered through the Snip program! Thank you!

Their website is broken. In the off-chance it does work, it is not updated. Clicking the adoption links takes you to a third-party site which is also broken. The staff is rude over the phone and for some reason won't allow anyone in to see the animals. You can't adopt from them because you can't see the animals online or in person.Find a stray. Save your time.

Everybody there was absolutely awesome! They reunited me with my cat and were very understanding and accomidating, considering i couldn't make it immediately due to all the snow.

Excellent staff that helped me understand the process for getting a dog license and some details about 1 year vs. 3 year rabies shot. Good to see the extra effort they take to provide good service.

Rude and combative from the start. Poor customer service to say the least. I had a meet and greet with my current dog and the adoption dog that didn't go well. Knowing that the dog had been there a long time, I offered to sponsor the dog so he wouldn't be put down since I could not adopt. I was summarily dismissed with a scolding lecture that explained there was nothing I could do. So we left, never to rerurn. Sad that it appears their priorities are grossly misplaced, customer service and caring are obviously not one of them. The other bad reviews are true...based on my experience.

For a "no kill shelter" they told us the animals we were surrendering we're going to be put to sleep that day because the animals were dirty! 0/10 would not recommend gave 1 star be ause negative stars was not an option this place need to be honest with the public they THEY ARE A KILL SHELTER!!!!

The first time I went here, about a year ago, the dog section was a bit sad and the dogs seemed stressed. This has since changed drastically, the guys who were in the dog section have created such a wonderful atmosphere. They even sit and comfort the animals in the space they're in. If the dogs barked, one of the guys checked on the dog. My house doesn't meet the standards to adopt the dog i wanted but Im so happy to have seen the positive changes. I will definitely keep an eye for a future animal that will work best for our household.

Didnt know i had to have appt to view lost & found animals, on their website it states is best to come in & look! The door says you have to have appt. Drake, the fine gentleman at Dog control right next door helped us, he was very nice, professional and showed us compassion! Drake made us feel a lot better, we left their in higher spirits than when we arrived! Thank You Drake!!

About a week or two ago I was forced to drop off puppies that I rescued (long story, posted more about that on animal controls reviews). The mom was already rehomed and adopted. I have checked the adoption page everyday since I dropped them off and they have not been listed for adoption. A lady told me that they were not sociable, and because of that I am worried that they will/have put the puppies down. Thought the community should be aware of the injustice that is taking place. I saw another review about kittens that someone dropped off and all the kittens were put down, I am so sad to think this story will repeat itself with these puppies.Edit: I found out through the grapevine that the puppies I rescued are safe and well taken care of, apparently Klamath is not equipped to deal with them so the puppies were (as I was told through the grapevine) shipped to another facility but they will not disclose where so take that info as you will.

they do put animals down if they feel they can not home them.

The facility has a very nice layout. Lovely pets, lots of expertise, but some of the main staff are very short tempered, rude, and treat their coworkers and even volunteers very badly. Not a good learning environment in my opinion. I ended up adopting from another shelter where the visitors, volunteers, and staff were treated kindly and with respect and did the same in turn. It was a pleasant experience, and best of all they genuinely enjoyed their jobs and it showed unlike the ladies at Klamath Shelter. They are making the adoption experience a negative one when they don't need to.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. However, we were charged adoption fees at a rate that included spaying. When we went to pick up our new family member, we learned that she had already been spayed. We went to check on whether we would get some of the fee back and was told that it was considered a donation so no portion of the fee was refunded. That is unacceptable! Had they explained about donations, I probably would have said to keep it but I do not appreciate being forced to donate. They should have offered to return a portion of the fees.

Rude front desk employees. Also they just put down cats I brought instead of trying to help a little bit all because the cats weren’t fixed! What’s a point of sheltering the animals if they’re just going to be put down?!

The rudest staff that I have ever dealt with, not just at an animal shelter but ANYWHERE. If you ask anything of the staff, they huff and puff and slam things around, they are extremely short tempered when talking with someone on the phone before I approached the desk. Not just the front desk clerk, but the other female and male that "helped" us were equally as rude. I know the feeling of not wanting to be at work, but take your negativity elsewhere where you are not around people and animals all day to take your frustrations out on. I feel sorry not only for the animals there, but sorry for the folks that have this as their only option for adoption in this town. Not sure who is in charge of running this place, but you should be ashamed for letting these people be the front lines of your shelter.

I took 4 kittens to the animal shelter and was told that they looked good and would probably be adopted fast. When I called a few days later, I was told that they had been put to sleep. If I had known that they don't try to adopt out kittens and instead kill them, I never would have brought them there.
