Ace is organized and easy to move around in. With so many staff members on the floor you can always get help very easily. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable with their products. It's a great place to go for projects of any size.

Calling this a "Hardware Store" is a ridiculous exaggeration... this place has had a handful of metric screws in stainless steel for over a month. Usually only 1 screw in a few random sizes... Zero chances of fixing your wind sports equipment from this place.

Don't expect much in the way of assistance or knowledgeable staff. Often long waits to checkout; customer service department derelict. Have had a few instances of kickback and guff from staff, re: problems with pricing and/or inventory. Would think a small town business would be more eager to retain customers...but, ultimately, I go back for lack of another choice.

The lady at the customer service counter is really good at her job. I did not know they were able to make keys with the "chip" in it. I'll be returning to have this done. It's a very nice store. Pretty good sized.

I only went there for one item I couldn't find anywhere else in town, a propane adapter. They didn't have one either and so I went to buy 1lb Colemans and they limited it to 2. I understand. Otherwise I do like the store, sometimes it's awkward to find help but the store is clean and employees are friendly. The rewards program is worth it and I appreciate their location and parking lot size. They have a good selection that allows me to shop locally in Hood River instead of going to The Dalles.

There was nobody around to help or any offers to help find something. We love the Ace in White Salmon but thought we would try the one in Hood River but wish it had the service the other one has. We did love the size & all the things in the store.

Kind and helpful customer service as well as informative. The item I was there to buy was located within the screws nails bolts etc which is more or less its own file system but not exactly in order yet I still found what I needed easily. The prices are decent for most items. I liked and recommend ace hardware hood river!

RATING CHANGE. Hood River Supply is generally a great place to shop. The store is open until 6pm most days. Last time I was there about 15 minutes before closing. The attendants were pushing customers out at 15 minutes before 6pm. Store workers would follow you around until you went to check out. If a store says they are open until 6:00pm, shouldn't it be open until 6 and not have attendents ushering you out? I had one fastener to get today, 5 minutes before closing time. I new exactly where to go to get it. The door guard cracked the door open said we are closed. I politely said told him I have one fastener to get and it is 5 minutes til 6. He rudely respond we're closed and shut the door. My rating changes from 5 to 3 Star rating for the rude door guard, uncomfortable ushering of customers before closing, and not being open for business as advertised.

Went in looking for a few different bolts nuts and washers the fastener section is no longer in the safe place in the store and not in the same order or an order that makes any sense Staff not as knowledgeable as they use to be went in for hardware for a project ask for help with fasteners final found someone he found what he said was a match so got ten or so of each none of them were the correct size.

Decent selection, though sometimes I am forced to drive to Home Depot in The Dalles, or resort to ordering online. Staff is friendly, though the checkout seems to take forever. Trying to get something “quickly” and be on my way is a challenge.

The Hood River Ace usually has what I am looking for at a decent price. This may be one of the largest Ace Hardware Stores you will ever find. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and quick to help you locate exactly what you need. Huge selection of hard to find small individual, specialty hardware. Plenty of parking. Easy access. Plenty of cashiers.

Just called in about a part for my dishwasher and their customer service was incredible. They went out of their way to make sure I could get the part I needed. Even called another store and had someone bring it down to me. Excellent Service!

This place has been very successful in the valleythey got that success through a very good work ethic you know the kind where you never call Inn you’re not late you’re always polite you follow through but unfortunately like every business in America once they became very successful they realized they could just rake in the money because everybody’s going to come regardless of their behavioryou got a parts department that is only open Monday through Friday oh is that the same days you work too bad they’re not open on the weekend for you to get expensive parts for your equipment & when you call this place you think someone’s gonna answer forget about it you will get a voicemail that you will leave a message to that you will be lucky if they call you back in a timely manner so this place used to be five star and now I wouldn’t even give it one star if that was a choice

Isaac was very helpful. He spent a 1/2 hour trying to find out why one light bulb would work and not another. He also looked on line for difference in all the specs. Although it is still a mystery, I went with his recommendation and I walked away a happy customer. Thank you Isaac!

A place to get your home improvement supplies met. Only issue was on asking a question employee didn't seem to know seemed bothered when asked if she could ask someone or recommend a employee that might have knowledge re what I needed. I still would go here to pick up household items

Update:Pat McAllister (President and CEO) e-mailed and called me and apologized profusely for the the treatment I received. He said that is not what they are about and they want to be focused on the customers. He promised that customer service and especially service around closing time would improve. I hope so because I would like to be able to keep my business local. I will keep my rating at 3 stars until I see actual improvement.Original Review:This store is the only hardware store open until 7:00 pm in the valley so I visit it frequently, but the customer service of the staff near closing time is appalling. I work late and often have to come in for supplies just before closing time. The employees give anyone entering the store after 6:30 pm the evil eye and good luck getting customer service. If I request help finding something they will give me as short an answer as possible and then immediately run away to finish their closing time sweeping etc.If I have the gall to stay until 6:55 they start making rude remarks about how I'm the only customer left in the store. This isn't just something that I've noticed recently, it has been going on for years even when the store closed earlier. Tonight it reached a climax when I was checking out at 7:00 and the cashier forgot to scan several items in my cart. When I noticed this as I was walking out the door I went back to try and pay for the items. The cashiers had already shut down their registers and told me "sir, we close at 7:00" and wanted me to come back later to purchase the items. Only after my protests did they relent and let me purchase the items.This just reinforces my resolve to purchase as many future items as possible from Home Depot, Amazon, and McMaster. It is a shame that a hometown store can't provide hometown customer service.

Has good selection of basic tools, yard care, irrigation, and home maintenance. Able to order most other items in for you. Consider signing up for a co-op membership if you shop here often.

I'm not that handy, but I try to do little things around the house. The folks at Hood River Supply always go out of their way to help me with do it my self by making suggestions, taking extra time to personally show my option, and even making special orders. Great hometown service.

It's like a big box store but with friendly rural staff. Se habla español. Selection and prices aren't too bad considering the gas it takes to go to dalles or portland.

Things are a bit more pricy compared to major hardware sotores. They need to keep their prices compatible as well as return policies. I will go to Home Depot just for that alone.
