I decided to learn to ski last year, and went in to Doug's with only a snowboarding background and the most basic knowledge of ski equipment. The guys in the shop were extremely knowledgeable, took their time explaining things to me without making me feel like a fool, and got me into a set of boots that fit me almost perfectly.This year I had a hot spot on one foot and went back in to get it figured out, and they remembered me from last year! They were able to get some space punched out and had the boot ready for me the next day. I am extremely grateful their service and appreciate the wealth of knowledge they freely share. Thank you!

Doug’s! If only I had more space in my closet.The buying team at Dougs really knows how to pull at your heart strings and emotions. The assortment of product and apparel for the body and home, or sport is off the charts. I never knew Pacific Outdoor clothing could be so fashionable and functional. I always thought REI old man zip clothing was the only direction.The best part was also the outdoor sporting sections, ski, hike and surf they offer.The looks are super hip, boho, sheik and fun. Cozy materials and smart patterns and prints. Shoes, coats, eyewear, hats, bags and more.I was super impressed and because of them, I have opened my eyes to new brands and styles.See you again this Winter Doug’s team.

Such a good experience getting skis for my kids. The employee who helped us was so good at making sure everything fit good and they were happy with the colors and styles they were getting! Definitely worth the drive from Portland!

We’ve been supporting Doug’s for years, so I was astounded when the ski shop literally refused to sell me a basic ski tune-up. Seems the manager blacklisted me 7 years ago (!), for whatever interaction I can’t remember. Especially if a customer is unhappy, you do whatever you can to recover their confidence! I guess we’ll boycott Doug’s for 7 years now. Sad.

Love this place, whether for gear purchases or gear rentals. One of the most helpful staff, I believe, with a ton of knowledge ready to help you make well informed decisions.Just got fit for snowboard boots and they did an amazing job finding a pair that not only fit, but were actually comfortable to wear. Superb job, awesome brands available and amazing staff. Can't recommend them more.

Doug’s is great. We live & work in Portland. And we come out to HR about once per month to eat and have beers and to get out of the concrete zoo. And we ALWAYS make it a point to stop in at Doug’s.

I was searching for a pair of shorts while on a trip here. I was shocked by the lack of variety in their size range, it seemed like they went to maybe a size 6 or 8 for women. I’ve never had a hard time finding clothes that fit but I felt like I was in the children’s section.

Stopped in to rent gear for next-day skiing. Was helped right away, and service was friendly and responsive to my preferences. The employee went above and beyond to make sure I had what was needed, and when I went to check out, I was pleasantly surprised at the rental price. Return was easy, too -- just drop everything in the bin and go on your way. Definitely recommend; will definitely return.

Excellent service and expert advice during a ski boot fitting! John’s knowledge of foot shapes and ski boot fitting made the experience informative and fun. After looking at my feet he selected a couple options from the wall based on my foot shape and the kind of skiing I intend to do. He got me dialed into an awesome pair of boots for a great price. These guys are also full of local knowledge and fun to chat with. Can’t go wrong getting setup with ski gear here!

We rented skis and snowboards from Doug's for our ski trip to Mt Hood earlier this year. When I walked in I was fitted for the snowboard by Doug himself and he gave some great advice for a first time boarder. The gear he outfitted us with was a Burton board with Burton bindings I believe and I was complimented on both by the staff at the ski resort. The ski resort gear rentals are not as good as Doug's gear.For late return he gives you the option to drop the rented gear at the brewery just down the street from the shop in case you spend a little too long on the mountain. I can't recommend renting and purchasing from this local store enough, nothing but a great experience! And Doug was a great guy too, saw him around town and was always friendly.

Rhyme called I’m Sorry:This is a song dedicated to Doug's, and it’s aimed at working out their bugs.We went in hoping we’d be in their club, but when we weren't felt the snub.It started one Saturday and we bought some shoes, tried them on and they seemed so true.We picked them up thinking they were great, but when we wore them one day they felt like weights.So we called up Doug's from out of town, and the rep told us to come on down!Down to Hood River as the only way to return, and we mentioned clearly that the shoes were worn!The shoes were worn for maybe two hours, they said with a receipt we had the power,to return the shoes, just bring them in, so we headed back to Hood River and it would begin,We got in the store, and were directed to line, we observed their products and all seemed sublime.We waited in line until it was our turn for service, and another was rushed to the counter and curbed us.We looked at the rep and I thought she saw me, but realized we weren't in the club when they said "I’m Sorry!"I'm Sorry, you were in line, I'm sorry, you don't get served, I'm sorry, we know this guy, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.So we thought little of it and would wait a bit longer, but the snub we felt only got stronger!When it was our turn, we brought the shoes, and with our receipt expected no bad news,We asked for an exchange and without looking, they took us to the back like all was cooking.We got back for one size smaller, and right there, the tale got taller... we got an apology...they said "I'm sorry!"They didn't have the size in stock, and we got to the front with one more shock.We had been told to come in, we had been told it was fine, but when we got back to the front of that line?Well, you might guess this line is getting as old as an Atari; they looked at the shoes and said "I'm sorry!"I'm sorry we told you to come in, I'm sorry we didn't clear up our policy, I'm sorry we were fine with the shoes before, I'm sorry we are not fine with them anymore!That’s the end of the song, and what we learned about Doug's; you get great service only if you're in their club!Public note: We called indicating that their receipt subjectively said they wouldn't accept returns that were "unsellable" but they sent multiple indications that the shoes were fine. We wouldn't have come back into Hood River if there was any indication that we might not be able to return the shoes.

We were traveling through Hood River and stopped at Doug’s Sports to take a look. I was browsing the ski equipment just to see what I should buy in a couple months before ski season started. One of the associates (Ian) was very helpful in explaining the different ski boots available. I had no intention to buy initially, but my wife and I were so impressed with his professionalism and knowledge, that I ended up buying a pair of boots after getting properly fitted, etc. It was at a great price as well! Thanks Ian, and we’ll definitely stop again at Doug’s the next time we come to Hood River!

They are so nice! I rented snowboard from Dec 25 to Jan 1, we picked up a day earlier and returned a day later, they were kind enough to give me those extra days for free. We were late for pickup but they tried their best to help by putting the snowboard in the hotel across the street for us to pick up. We’re soooo grateful for their kindness. Plus there’s a huge but cute dog at the store.

Great local shop with excellent customer service. Cass was super helpful in helping me find a snowboarding jacket. I love that they give you a discount for your birthday month. It's also where I take my snowboards for repairs/tune-ups and I haven't been disappointed. Everybody there is super chill. Rented cross-country skis there last year too and they were great at making sure things fit us properly. Sometimes the ski shop has dogs up there which is a bonus; my favorite is the Saint Bernard.

Very helpful staff. Great selection of soft goods. Only bummer was them selling a ton of BOA boots and not having a single replacement part for BOA. They are more of a clothing store than a core hard goods shop. Overall a beautiful shop with killer digs :)

Great location excellent customer service.My son needed grip tape for his new skateboard build, they not only sold us the tape but put it on the deck and installed his trucks and wheels. Amazing service!

We rented skis and bought a few things on the way to Mt. Hood last Sunday (1/14/18). Really great service from the ski rental shop. Excellent advice and fit, and nice equipment. Return to Hood River Hotel was really handy for after hours.

Went in to get my snowboard tuned up. Walked in around noon and it was a relatively slow time of the year (Early April). They got back to me same day. I only needed a basic tune, and the board was looking, and feeling fresh. The staff there is always super friendly, and always accommodating.Thanks Dougs

Don’t rent skis and boards here!!!When we returned our equipment, the guy checking it back in charged us for a “basic tune” at $45 for a tiny ding in the bottom of my ski. I have rented skis from various places for decades and have never been charged like this. I do not ski off the trails and tried to watch out very carefully for anything that may scuff the skis while I was out today. It is very frustrating to have tried to support a local business and then have this happen.I will not be returning here for my rental needs, not will I support their retail ventures.

Lovely little hobby store! From model vehicles to board games, to radio-controlled cars and planes, to fun party pranks. Great variety of goods. Good COVID precautions (limited # of customers, masks req'd and hand sanitizer provided at the entrance).
