Grateful to have a place to grab some rations while on the mountain. However, the staff could definitely consist of some kinder humans...they're the only option around for provisions, and they know it. And judging by the previous reviews, they take advantage of it. The area probably could benefit from some healthy competition, if anyone is looking for a retirement project. 🙃

Young guy behind the counter was extremely rude because I asked for a bag because he never asked me if I wanted one and I had a bunch of snacks he said I can’t because he charged my card already, buddy got some balls sitting behind that counter I would be mad too if I hated my job better watch out before he pisses the wrong person off

The food was not good - fish and pizza 🍕 both way overdone. Service was slow- came back 10 min later to ask what kind of beer we had ordered. Had to ask for water refills. Would not go back.Had been here in the past but this time was a big disappointment

At first I was put off by the pricing but then I realized that we were at the top of a mountain and 30 to 40 min away from the next closest store. Sure, i could drive down and get my beer for 3 bucks less but at what cost? The service was friendly and made a valid point "Taxation with elevation, man!" Well, you sir, are correct.

They locked the doors at 7:55pm and their online hours say 8pm. If your staff is lazy and want to clock out a few minutes early I recommend you change your hours. Overpriced items, somethings cost 3x the normal price

The guy at the counter was rude to my friend for no reason. She was completely nice and well mannered. She took it personally and it ruined part of her day. Doesn't take any effort to be kind, especially when people are being kind to you first.

You have to buy your stuff here... No really... There isn't any where else in town to buy the stuff they have here. And stuff they do have. Good selection of all the necessities. Great selection of beers and wines. They even have an incredible selection of delicious foods: fresh meat and cheese, produce, deli stuff, boxed and canned, even hot prepared snacks, and a beverage station!! And, there is a full liquor store.

Wish I could give this place 0 stars!Absolutely terrible experience here, hands down the worst I’ve ever had. The staff was so rude and literally aggressive. I’d like to note the situation was even worse as I had my children with me. I will NEVER be back.If anyone experiences the same, another option is the chevron up the hill. Obviously they don’t have as much, however the staff is actually professional and your experience will pleasant unlike at Govy General.

Clerks are being extremely rude and shockingly ridiculous! They rejected to sell a beer to a 52 years old person who showed a driver license. It is completely unreasonable and if we were not on vacation, we would not leave this situation unresolved like that.

5 stars overall for store and 4 stars for chicken fingers. FOUR STARS FOR HEAT LAMP CHICKEN?! Heck yeah! I'm impressed by the flavor to cost ratio and for some reason Govy's was taking cards the day the entire town's internet (and credit card machines) were down. Also super nice staff and solid selection of groceries/snacks/beer. Hats off to you, Govy's General!

Excellent store up by the campsites and resorts of Mt Hood. I flew up from Texas with nothing but shorts, t-shirts, and a few pairs of jeans. It was beautiful when I landed, but started raining on my way to the campsite and dropped into the 30s overnight. I ran up the street hoping they would have some kind of long sleeve shirt, only to find they had jackets, sweatshirts, hats, food, and everything else you might need up here. The staff was friendly and helpful as well, if you're in the area make it a point to stop and look around!

When you are from Portland and go to rural Oregon, you notice that grocery stores are one stop shopping. They have a liquor store, plenty of choices of fresh and frozen foods when it comes to a mountain location and size of the store. Don't expect to do your weekly shopping trip here, but last minute items will be waiting for your money.If you’re lucky, you’ll get to chat with the local YouTube star MOUNTAINOUS who is also a ninja.They close early and they don't stay open 2 minutes past closing, so don't even try.

Go to Govy General if you’re in Government Camp. They have a solid food and snack selection and carry oat milk! Also, I left my wallet there with over $300 in it and no one stole it and they kept it in the safe until I was able to come back a week later! Thank you, Govy General!!

Well-stocked liquor store in the back, grocery store up front. Not the kind of place you’d go to get obscure fresh produce or reasonably priced spices, but it’s definitely helped us out in a pinch when we didn’t want to drive down to the Thriftway in Welches. They always have the ingredients to make s’mores and a surprisingly impressive kombucha selection.

Do you love $11 sixpacks of beer? Did you get all the way out here and realize you forgot your toothbrush? Then this is the place for you! It's a general store in a small community. Prices are high, but you can't really go anywhere else.

We stop here every time we go to the mountain. Excellent and surprisingly gourmet food and wine selection. The kids think the chicken nuggets here are something pretty special...lol.
