The good:Place is spacious and cleanWhat is lacking:Upon arrival we encountered 3 broken chairs and a seriously unusable kitchen. We don't have a coffeemaker, enough plates or cups for each person (we are 6 in our group). There are other items broken/non functional. BUT- a chair, a cup and a plate per person (!!) I count as the bare minimum lodging should provide. Further, after contacting Vacasa promptly (within 2 hours of arrival) via text and providing them the requested pictures AND calling them and being on hold for 20 minutes, non of the items have been addressed of fixed in the 2 days! I get random texts back from AI (is my guess) . Example at 12.21 AM " Thank you for the pictures" and "they already have sent that over to the local manager". Non of the issues have been addresses or fixed.Oh, and if they promise to make things right with refunding you a day's worth, don't feel better, because they haven't followed through with that either!Do NOT Stay at Collins Lake Resort, South Lodge Unit #102, Government Camp, OR

This is a great place to rent for both winter and summer vacations. The condos are roomy at about 1200 sq.ft. with two floors plans offering either two or three bedrooms. They are individually owned and rented through Collins Lake Resort. There is a heated pool and large outdoor hot tub open year round. These units are a short walk to the center of Government Camp for dining out, or shopping for food and liquor and the general store. There is something for the whole family.

Rented unit 33 in J building. Note, no reviews are available on their website, which is a yellow (or red) flag. First of all:1- Site says "sleeps 8". No way. Small bunk and 2 queen beds = 6 people max. Small room/tight layout.2- Beds- mattresses probably 30 years old and NOT COMFORTABLE --- make it very hard to sleep. Hope the other units are better but no way to know (search for the specific unit review on Google?)3- Dining room chairs- worn through, with holes. Not comfortable and just waiting to fall completely apart.Overall- great location, check-in, and pool. But units are dated and will not be comfortable unless some minimal investment is made to keep them up. Kind of a shame, but likely with such high demand (and no formal reviews on their site) they can get away with very sub-par furniture.**update— after informing management they made efforts to 1) help identify units with newer furniture, for any future stay and 2) provide a small future discount. So plus one star. just know these units vary quite a bit. and pricey.

Room was FILTHY. When we spoke to the office, they got defensive and blamed not changing the bedding or wiping down any surfaces on the fact it was a dog unit. So all they’d do is give us new sheets, which they did, but it wasn’t enough to change out the two beds we requested. Also wouldn’t give us new comforters. 800 bucks for two nights and they don’t even replace the sheets, comforters or blankets. Absolutely disgusting. Also found a cannabis joint and half eaten granola bar in the night stand. Coffee pot was filthy. Stains on every single piece of furniture and pillows. Unit wasn’t vacuumed prior to us arriving. Floor FULL of hair. You can’t touch the carpet without being covered in human and animal hair. Not to mention the stained beds had human hair between the sheets. Who doesn’t change sheets!? This place is deplorable. Would not recommend staying here. Reminds me more of a frat party room than a place to bring your family. Camping on the ground outside would be cleaner. 0 stars.

I stayed in the Grand Lodge Unit #2 by far a great experience and mini getaway. The kitchen was better equipped than my home, the owner has provided everything we could possibly require, the beds were the most comfortable we have ever slept in and very spacious. We felt so welcome and will definitely return.

My son and I stayed here for 3 days. The office staff were so very welcoming. They were helpful in providing me with information on the local goings on and locations of such events. The condo itself was beautiful and comfortable. It felt just like a home away from home. The scenery was amazing! The pool(s) and hot tubs were a great bonus! My son went in multiple times a day, no matter the weather! He loved it! The local food was excellent. The entire trip was wonderful, fun, and relaxing! I would recommend Collins Lake Resort to anyone, at any time of year! The walk around the entire perimeter was my favorite. The lake was beautiful and provided a backdrop great for photo ops. All the little trails and bridges were adorable. Best.Time.Ever.!!!

We had a wonderful week here - all of the stores and restaurants of Government Camp were a stones throw. The condo was clean and well appointed, we only have good things to report!! Our kids were in ski camp and both the mountain and town were amazing. We’ll be back next year!

We stayed in the Grand Lodge for three nights. The office staff had Covid and was not able to check us in or answer the phone for most of the weekend. While this is understandable in these times, the resort needs a backup plan, especially if it advertises itself as a resort and charges resort prices. When we arrived, our HVAC was blowing warm air and the room was 82 degrees. This was disappointing because it was our wedding weekend, and with all the logistics we were balancing, the hotel was the last thing we wanted to have to stress out about while getting married. The lodge was one thing we splurged on so that we would be extra comfortable. For a mere $2,600, we were made rather UNcomfortable. When maintenance was not able to fix the AC, we were not offered a new room and had to deal with the heat all weekend. Maintenance did bring a portable AC unit, but it was very noisy to sleep with and only covered 1 room. We continued calling the office and after hours line repeatedly and were offered no solutions. At one point I was told that the manager would call back in 10 minutes, but it didn't happen. Aside from the heat debacle, there were several other disappointing aspects of the weekend. I usually expect resorts to be well equipped, but we weren't even given a sponge to wash dishes with. Bathrooms had 1 small piece of soap to be shared between sink and shower. Last, there was a power outage on Monday throughout the whole town, and it would appear that the Grand Lodge has no generator. Even the exit signs were off. Along with several other guests, we stumbled into the pitch black parking garage to leave the hotel with our phone flashlights on, only to find that maintenance still hadn't arrived to manually open the parking garage door. Talk about feeling trapped! While we were refunded a small amount of our stay in the end, it was nothing compared to stressing out when we just wanted a peaceful and romantic wedding night spot after the big day. To top it off, we were told the manager would call us at 9am this morning, but it still hasn't happened. Unbelievable. We run 2 Airbnbs and we are familiar with what it takes to make guests happy. This is not it.

I’ll start out by saying how delightful the staff is and how most of this is likely outside of their control. I was disappointed in my stay at collins lake resort for my wedding weekend. We were planning on getting ready and taking photos in my condo but arrived to find that it was covered in pretty awful looking rug stains throughout the entire apartment. I would not recommend unit 45 in building P for this reason. Furthermore, having to listen to the sounds of the highway all night in uncomfortable beds just wasn’t what we’re expecting at the price point we paid, so I would be mindful of that as well when selecting a building, as the photos did not relay the proximity to the highway when we booked. I did not find this an enjoyable experience overall, as our purpose was to have a nice place for my bridal party to get ready. but others in our party had more luck with nicer and better located units.

I loved playing in the snow with my family! The rooms where nice and big with three bathrooms, and a amazing view of the outside. And the best part was that it was so close to ski bowl. One thing that was kinda anoying was that the snow plow was very loud waking us up a couple times,But overall it was amazing experienceAnd you can always guarantee snow.5/5

Generally happy with the stay and not sure how much the downsides are a result of the resort is the owner of our individual condo, but good experience overall. Location is fantastic, in the shadow of Mt Hood, but the resort is pretty close to hwy 26 and we got a lot of nose with the windows open. Additionally, you can see the mountain, but only past a lot of construction. The common facilities were pretty well maintained and the little walk around the lake itself is magical. Check-in process was smooth and with very friendly staff. Very happy overall

This was a last minute trip for me and my family. We had never stayed on the mountain and selected Collins Lake Resort for the convenience of being close to everything. We were surprised at how nice the resort and condos were. The staff was very friendly and we felt welcome. My boys and me had a wonderful time despite the heavy rain on our second day. The hiking was great, the town charming and our condo was beautifully decorated. We decided after only being there for a couple of hours that we would make this an annual trip. Thank you to the owners of our condo, for making there home away from home feel like our home away from home.Thank you to the staff for making us feel welcome.

Great location, you have quick access to all of the ski resorts on mt hood. Rooms are great but the bathrooms are a little small. Other than that its awesome. The spa is really good and looks amazing in the snow

Had a great time. I was invited to the resort as part of a bike trip for a mountain bike race. The rooms are great and clean and smell good. And the hot tub and pool are fantastic! The resort is easy to find and it is right in the middle of town. Very close to local hangouts.

Our family loved this place. Great condos with the heated pools and hot tubs through the entire winter. Very comfortable living in these Chalets for a family of 6. Plus Mt Hood Skibowl is right across the street and you receive discounted or free tickets for skiing and snow tubing. You also get discounts for snowmobiling, Timberline and other snow activities. Great location! We can't wait to get back up there for our next getaway.

The owners of the Grand Lodge decorated and furnished decor appropriate for families with multiple ages. Our lodge was beautifully located by the small pond, not a lake. The hot was nice on the deck and big enough for three people.I would assume due to covid this unit had not maintained the furnace/ fireplaces. We could not control heat. However maintenance was out 2 nights out of 3. Disappointed with fees and extra night charged as compared to our original booking date in Nov. 2020.(Had to cancel due to covid, high risk)Owner did extend unit stay for up to 6 months but lost our free night even when it was the very slow season. Snow activities had ended and lakes closed. This resort in Government Camp, Oregon is centrally located to many activities if you travel when activities are open.Forest service controls some of these restrictions.Do your homework on area attractions before booking.

Collins Lake Resort is a wonderful place to stay summer or winter. The amenities are fantastic! Porch to powder for easy transportation to Ski Bowl in the winter. Close to all the beautiful trails and lakes Mt. Hood has to offer. I would definitely recommend Collins Lake to anyone wishing to explore Mt. Hood and Government Camp.Chalet Pros:The chalet we stayed in was dog-friendly so our furry relative wasn’t stuck at home.It looked out over a green space, next to the creek and right across the bridge from the pool. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, so we could cook all our own meals. The beds were comfortableThere was enough linens for our party of 8There is a washer and dryerGarage is a 2-car tandem.General Resort Pros:The staff at the office is friendly and efficientSauna, hot tub, pool, and leisure tub are wonderful summer or winterCedar Lodge is a great place to watch a movie or game on their pull down projector, or just hang out by the fire.Cons:I don’t live here ;-)

We stayed here recently and rented two units for our group. The chalet number 102 had carpets that were stained and filthy and one of the beds had a sagging and very uncomfortable mattress. They stated upon departure that a metal bed frame of a bunkbed had been broken which was incorrect. We were unfairly charged $100 for a replacement. We also rented the Grand Lodge unit number 13 and the bunkbed room was an absolute joke. All beds were hard as rocks and my husband and I had to spend time sleeping on the couch in the living room. We also suffered pretty big back injuries as well and I have been out for two days with mine. I had to forgo a race and rowing challenge that I have been training for for an awfully long time due to this. We own beach rental homes and would never stoop so low as to offer our honored guests beds in such terrible condition. People will always remember the good or bad quality of sleep that they get when they rent units and trust me, you will remember the poor night rest that you received here, I promise you that. Management was not cooperative with listening to us and after staying here several times in the past, none of us will be back ever again. If you decide you will still stay here, avoid Grandlodge number 13 and chalet 102 like the plague.

We have been staying at Collins Lake Resort for years.....quite simply, the only place we go to vacation now. The staff is superb! We have stayed in many of the chalets, and not one of them was anything less then fantastic! For the price of a higher end hotel room, you get a home, and treated like family by the staff. The grounds are beautiful, and the pool and rec area is spotless. If you are looking for a little home away from home, without the interruptions of life, Collins Lake Resort is our one and only choice!

Great place to stay when you want to play in the snow. We had a blast! I recommend booking early, asking if they have sleds in your rental. The fireplace was cozy and it was warm inside this place. Great for families and friend getaways.

We stayed for Labor Day weekend at the Collins Lake Resort. Our family loved it! The chalet was comfortable and cozy. The service at the office was very friendly and informative! The amenities on site were also fantastic, our kids loved the heated pool at night. Close proximity to Mt. Hood Adventure Park and dining - seemed like it was all right off our doorstep. The weather was perfect, not overly busy in town during our stay, it was awesome! Highly recommended!

We had a very relaxing feeling for the days at Mt Hood areas thanks to the accommodation we booked. Layout was great for us. We maneuvered the stairs well. The trees and the sound of the creek on the back deck and the Master bedroom made it very special. The Colins Lake compound has much to offer (swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, hiking trails). The home was complete with extra pillows and beddings if needed. We cooked our food and had everything we needed. I think if we’re staying in Colins Lake, this unit for sure would be our clear choice.

Great place to stay. The leasing staff was easy to work with, especially Heather. We came up just for one night during the Fourth of July weekend, getting one of the last rooms available. The view of Mt. Hood from the deck was beautiful. I'm looking forward to staying here again for a longer stay.If you haven't experienced Mt. Hood during the summer, you definitely need to. Ski and snowboard teams from all over the world are here training. It's such a festive place with a unique buzz to it and much different from Mt. Hood during the winter.Make sure to stay @ Collins Lake Resort. The rooms are beautiful and the pool/hot tub is great after a long day exploring Mt. Hood.
