This is a great bar/restaurant in Government Camp. It's rustic, but has a good variety of menu selections. Indoor seating is bar-only, so no minors and you order food at the bar (no table service), but there is a separate "restaurant entrance" for families with outdoor seating and table service. One of the only places in town that was open for lunch on a weekday when we visited, but I would definitely recommend the place for a cold drink and a warm meal.

When I arrived, the staff were very accommodating. As I took off my hat and jacket, the aroma of rustic wood and fire-roasted beast permeated the air; the low rumbling of voices and animated faces painted the scene with memories of family gatherings around a log fire on a warm summer's eve. A lovely woman's gaze met mine where I stood. The lady's eyes moved from mine and slowly down to my boots, her expression changing from mild interest to a humored smirk. She then quickly looked back up to me, and with a subtle gesture with her hand, pointed to my pants. Curiously, I looked down to where she was pointing, only to come to the unfortunate realization I had forgotten to zip up my pants. 5 stars.

All thumbs-up for the food, the ambience and the staff. Loved the coziness of the place at 5he backdrop of the mountain itself.The bar's a separate place and there is an even more private dining area. Weekends here are super busy (and rightfully so). We here in a weekday and we're floored by the personal attention from the staff and the openness to accommodate our dietary requests!

The food was spectacular, even more so due to the great price point. The waitress was awesome and attentive, even though she had plenty of tables.I sat outside due to having a dogWhat makes this place a two star for me was the behind the bar woman who yelled at me and my dog. My dog was up on the bench for some cuddles, and as she was getting turned around her front paws touched the table for about 15-30 seconds, the dyed redhead person from behind the bar peeked her head out and yelled, and I do mean YELLED "can you get your dog down from the table!!"I look up to see who's screaming at me, my dogs paws already back on the bench, getting ready to get down to the ground"NOW, yanno, the table where people eat!"I simply (and in hindsight shouldn't have) chirped back "you wipe them down, right?"She rolled her ears and went back to behind the bar, then continuing to eye my and my dog for the entire rest of our stay.This would have been made a non issue if she had asked nicely or came up to the table, but she immediately responded with aggression.Furthermore as I was loading my dog up to leave I got to chatting with some other people and was happening to view the seating area I was at.... Leading to my biggest issue.The same lady that yelled at me, came out and cleared the outside tables. Not once did she actually wipe down any of the tables ANYONE had been sitting at. Not the one my dog were at, not the one the other people with dogs were at (there was specially a pug LAYING on the table, but didn't get yelled at)... Nor the table with a diapered baby on the table. This was a good 25-30 min after I had cashed out and was talking in the parking area in from of the restaurant.Tldr: great food(gator tators and shrimp basket) and waitress. Terrible, terrible behind bar staff.

I called a bartender that was clearly a guy with excessive facial hair "dude" and "bro" when I wanted to order another round and they literally called the cops on me and kicked me out, the bartender said he was offended and I asked why, but he refused to answer. I was not hostile or violent with anyone despite what the owner states, if I WAS, I would have been arrested, but I was not. People were yelling at me and I yelled back at them because I was being ganged up on for simply asking why being called "dude" or "bro" was offensive. The bartender was snarky and being overly sensitive and dramatic imo, maybe he was non binary or something, but he wouldn't say, so I dont know for sure. I personally believe this place is super woke and unless you are into that, I would stay away.

It was the wife and I first time at this restaurant, we heard alot of great things,about Charlie's. However our experience wasn't the best. I understand that their under staffed but you shouldn't have to wait half hour for your food to be served. The bartender did more talking with locals,at the bar and was rude when interrupted when I ordered our drinks as,well as my food order. We spent $50.00 on an elk burger, and Asian shrimp salad with drinks. The food was good but the service was rude.

after thinking i wasn’t 21 (im 24 and had been in the bar for around 2 hours already) told my father and i to F off and continued to be rude throughout the night. owner was initially helpful but was super petty and would rather fight than diffuse a situation. both were at least semi-drunk. super poor service and overall experience. food was meh- better places in govy

Restaurant offers good food and friendly service. My wife and I ordered the avocado lime shrimp and the cod fish and chips. Both tasted delicious. The cook did forget the avocado in the salad, but that was remedied quickly.

Loved the vibe! Perfect place to get a drink and a bite to eat after hitting the slopes. Highly, highly recommend the cassoulet soup - the meat was so tender and flavor was on point! Cheers!

Rustic. That was my initial opinion of Charlie's. It is a nice little spot that seems to be a favorite hangout amongst the locals. The staff was okay but the cheeseburger and fries that I had was really good! The fries were crispy and golden brown just the way I like it.Lighting is medium which provides a soft, comfortable atmosphere and there's a wonderful wood stove to keep everyone warm. Sitting or standing near it is quite welcoming on a cold day!

This is a tough one. First part of the night was awesome. Apps and service were really attentive and on point. Moved outside for dinner and the service and food was terrible. Rude wait staff, no silverware or water, fish 🌮 were bland they didn't taste like anything. 10min for salt. No hot sauce provided when you could see it inside. Steak salad was recommend and was served with bad lettuce. Been going to Charlie for more than a decade. When I went back the next day to talk to manager was told -- not interested in feedback. Will keep going back for beers and shenanigans but prefer Glacier or the Rat for better food and service for cheaper.

Great spot for a quick warm up and some food. The burgers are fantastic and the locals who work there can get you served food and drink in no time.

Wasn’t the best place. Not the best food, but breakfast is okay. First walked in and 3 different waiters passed claiming they’ll be with us, but it took around 10min to get someone. They wouldn’t let our friends who arrived early at the bar to change into our table. Wasn’t very nice to help the family stay together on our vacation. Then once we set down, the waitress blabbered on why I’m not allowed to have a bottle of water nor electrolytes (to help dehydration in such a high altitude), and then demanded that they aren’t allowed to sit on the table. Sure felt welcomed, not.

This place is awesome! Got I to Govt Camp late and it was the only place still open serving food. What a find! This place is awesome great atmosphere great people, a fun place to be and the food was amazing! Will be a rest stop any time I come through.
