Backyard Farmer is a wonderful place to buy all kinds of feed for animals. Along with that, they even have these great funny chickens out side in front. Often they have had sweet little chicks inside, under lights to keep them warm. I have, in the past, brought students there to see them and hold them. Such a great small place, to be honored. I will post photos next time.

We purchased 9 chicks here over the summer at just a week old and they have absolutely thrived. I would recommend their baby birds to anyone because starting off with a healthier bird leads to better success! As someone with no prior chicken experience, the staff have been so helpful throughout the entire process in regards to supplies, what food to feed when, etc. We love coming in every month to get our feed & supplies and browsing around to see what new products they have in stock. We definitely plan to continue to provide our patronage to support our local community.

Eugene Backyard Farmer is a great, family-owned local business. Friendly and knowledgeable people. A well curated selection of tools, feeds, and plants. Plus a demonstration garden of beds and composters - made from Willow and living willow. A great place to be inspired.

My family came in today (7-30-2022) looking to browse, get information about keeping chickens, and get supplies so we could get started on keeping a few. The gentlemen who were in the store were incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. One of them gave us a scoopful of feed, and let us into their chicken run so our kids could see, and feed the chickens. They answered every question we had, and even helped us carry a big 'ol bag of feed to the car. Really awesome place!

Backyard Farmer has the cheapest, and more importantly, the most proper Duck and Goose feed mix that I use to go feed the fowl at Alton Baker. They also have so many other items that you needs as a city gardner who is earth continous. SUPPORT LOCAL!

Great resource for info and quality products. The staff is always friendly and helpful, even for general questions, if they don't have the answer then they know how to help you find it! We got our baby chickens here and they are happy and healthy. The store cats they have are super cute too!

I have had backyard chickens for about ten years. They know their stuff, have great birds and high quality feed. They also sell baby ducks and gardening supplies and plants, books and gifts. The baby chicks have gotten from them, have all been hens and have all been healthy. It's great for experienced backyard chicken Farmers as well as beginners. Also I love that it's a locally-owned business.I wouldn't go anywhere else!

This is a great local business for Eugene that is definitely deserving of local support. They have been extremely helpful to me, going out of their way to accommodate a special request I've made several times regarding garden soil. I unfortunately don't have a backyard farm, but I do have a garden, and this is an exceptional place with great, helpful people.

Since we no longer have chickens, we don’t go here as often as we used to. If you do have chickens, you can get gooD, healthy food here, and good bedding, plus multiple other supplies. Bill, the person who started this business, has retired but I was impressed with the new owners. They are also very knowledgeable and helpful. I was able to score some garlic here for my garden. Down to Earth was completely out, but the young man who helped us told me they had been able to get a second shipment so had some in stock. Yay!

Kind of in love with this place, and if I could afford to, I'd buy everything every time I go. They also usually have a lot of baby chicks, perfect for little kids to sneak a peek. They seriously have a bit of everything... you walk in just to look at chicks, and you walk out with every intention to transform your backyard into a vegetable producing paradise.

This is my favorite local farm store, I have never gone in looking for something and not found it. Every employee is fantastic and the owner himself will be seen working just as hard. They even replaced a chick that had passed within a few days from purchase. If you’re lucky the shop cats will come and say hi!

I bought my now hens as chicks at backyard farmer in 2017 and 2018 and they are healthy hens! I bought four different breeds and each are well suited for the environment here and are generally beautiful and lay rich eggs. I buy all my grain from here because they supply a custom blend (from union something or other) and my hens love it. I also buy herb and vegetable starts here each spring.
