The taffy is fantastic. Today they pulled at least two flavors. Fresh black cherry and licorice. Make sure you sample at least a piece of taffy and purchase at least a little of their amazing hand dipped chocolates as well. My favorite is the sea foam in milk chocolate. My second trip to Depoe Bay in a month and I am now heading home with a full bag of yummy salt water taffy. Come give them a shot. There are really good restaurants as well. I believe Highway 101 Burger is right next-door. Make sure you check out the wave action and possible whale migration out in the bay.

Absolutely recommend Ainslee's!!! I have been coming here since I was a kid and am now bringing my own kids to enjoy the treats.Had a bit of an issue with a product and they were so quick to make it right for my family and I, the customer service we recieved went above and beyond what I ever could have expected and they will always get my recommendation tenfold now! We can't wait to come back during the summer.

I've tried salt water taffy all along the Oregon coast and this is my favorite so far! Even though some of the flavors were sold out and taffy wasn't being made to watch at that moment, this is the softest and best flavored salt water taffy I've tried. You can tell this is freshly made!

I always make a point of getting popcorn and candy from this shop when I go to Newport. I go out of my way to go to Depoe Bay just to give them my business. As a small business owner myself, good service is so important and I rely on repeat business. I would think the owner appreciates customers like myself. There are plenty of candy shops they compete with for business. I had the "riptide" popcorn sent to my home as they were out of it the last few times I went there to purchase it in person. It wasn't a big order, but it shouldn't matter as I spend way more when I come to the shop in person. When I followed up on my order to see if it shipped, I called a few times with no answer and finally left a message in their voicemail. I received no return call. When I called the next day at the end of the work day I was told it shipped out. They had plenty of time to take a minute and let me know the order shipped, but at this point, I wasn't annoyed yet, I know they are busy. I was sent the carmel flavor which was not what I ordered. I have tried calling several times with no answer and finally left three seperate messages regarding this error over a course of a few days with no response back. I guess business is too good to take the time to respond to me. Such a bummer, as they have lost a long time repeat customer.

This is a must stop in Depoe Bay. They make their own taffy right in front of you. It is fascinating to see. They have ice cream and chocolate candy and even chocolate dipped insects for the very brave. Go get some fresh taffy, ice cream, caramel corn, or a variety of other treats and cross the street to see if you can spot any whales in the Bay.

We spent close to $50 on a large bag of taffy, but none of them tasted like they had any flavor at all. 4 of us tried all the different flavors and they all tasted exactly the same - like plain taffy. The only one that had any semblance of flavor was the cinnamon one. The caramel corn was delicious though. They were offering samples of the caramel corn but not the taffy, so that should have been a clue.

Made a quick stop here as we headed home from the beach. Lots of good flavors, my grandson got a kick out of seeing some taffy being made. I would strongly suggest you go straight up to the free public parking lot that is just up the hill, off the side road that runs next to their building. Trying to get street parking on a weekend is nearly impossible.

My new favorite candy store on the coast! Seriously some of the best chocolates and taffy I have ever had. The little chocolates with sea salt were unbelievable. The owners and staff are extremely sweet!! Very friendly. Great experience for us and the kids seeing the taffy made in person, and the prices are also very good. Will be a stop on every future trip for sure. A delicious experience!

Best salt water taffy I’ve had. Great texture, soft and flavorful, without being too sticky. This place has a large selection of flavors, and a lot of times you can actually watch the candy maker making the candy. They also have fudge, popcorn, and a variety of chocolate candies, including sea foam. Definitely give them a try when you’re in Depoe Bay.

The only place to buy salt water taffy. It is made on site, so it is always fresh. Stop and watch the taffy puller stretch, cut and wrap taffy.

We have stopped at Ainslee's for salt water taffy for decades. The candy is soft, a little marshmallowy yet chewy, and the flavors are delicious--five stars! But since the old machine still cuts the wrappers sized the same, it is obvious how thin the taffy is now stretched before cutting to sell more pieces from a batch. Each taffy is now so little that is looks like you are just getting waxed paper in your over-sized bag. That's a disappointment.

Great selection of normal flavored taffy. Also the chocolate and fudge options are a plenty. Highly recommend their taffy plus the chocolate covered sea foam (omg it is amazing!).

EDIT: I am happy to report the taffy has gotten *much* better since the time I wrote my original review. Flavors are good and taffy is nice and soft - definitely worth the stop again!I have bought taffy here for at least two decades and, until June 2022, I had never had anything bad from here. Like so many others here have said, the taffy has changed dramatically - there is almost no flavor whatsoever, and the flavors that do come through taste awful. Stick to the chocolates and popcorn - those are still edible.

We had a wonderful time at the store. We could observe the process of making salt water taffy. The machine for wrapping the taffy is from early 1900 and super interesting to watch. Tasting the fresh taffy was so yummy! We had peanut butter flavor. The consistency of the fresh ones is so different. Really great experience!

Black Licorice ice cream is hard to find, so getting a scoop here was a rare treat. Yummy! However, taffy merits the loss of a couple stars in this review. It didn't have a very good texture, and even knowing the half-dozen or so flavors I picked out, I couldn't sense which was which, other than mint and cinnamon. The others (even caramel apple) were hard to figure out when I blindly grabbed one out of the bag. It's weird that this place is so loved. I've had much better.

So many flavors! I thought "I'll just get a few pieces of each flavor that appeals to me" and $30 later I had almost a whole bag full of taffy 😅It's good though, and their chocolate covered sea foam is amazing!

I just received my order today and it is marvelous. Packed perfectly so even my caramel corn arrived in peak condition. I also ordered some of their amazing fudge which was absolutely delicious. Very sweet thank you note that gave it that very personal touch. Their storefront is absolutely a must stop when you are in Depot Bay but if you can't get there I highly recommend ordering from them online.  Very friendly, great customer service and you can tell it's very important to them that you enjoy your sweets. Great place! Highly recommend!

The taffy is amazing! I don't normally eat taffy, but I couldn't stop eating this taffy. The huckleberry was my favorite flavor. I also tried the truffles and they were to die for. The staff was super friendly and didn't rush us even though we came near closing time.

I agree with a the recent reviews. My first experience with Ainsley’s taffy goes back to the 60’s as a child and then several more times over the years whenever I visited the coast. Bought some last year and it was great. However the taffy we bought yesterday for ourselves and grandkids was nothing like what I’m used to. It is tough and hard - almost like it’s stale. The prior product just melted in your mouth.Definitely a change and do not recommend at all. You can get better at your grocery store back home.Very disappointed that the grandkids will not get to experience what I did.

The seafoam was AMAZING and the taffy was also very good. The reason I did not give 5 stars was because of product availability. They had enough taffy flavors to choose from but they were out of a few flavors that I would like to have had. Overall, It's a great little shop!!

A nice little place to get your taffy fix when in town! Plenty of flavors to choose from. This time the taffy seems a little off! Very sticky while eating and it stays stuck. Not chewy and disappears while eating like usual. I would say the only downfall is the taffy that ends up in the sun while the sun is going down gets warms on a basis. Very friendly!

Delicious caramel and cheese popcorn (try the Riptide, which combines both). Their chocolates were also quite good and seemed high quality. Didn't try the saltwater taffy, but they had a huge flavor selection and you want watch the machine make them right on site. Charming place with great stuff, will be back.
