Northern Star has been working to improve their customer service recently in my experience. The manager was willing to hear me out about an experience I had in the store that was less than stellar, which I really appreciated and wanted to make sure that I felt welcomed back to shop there again. Aside from this, I have experienced them gradually making progress to create a more welcoming environment in the store, in general. As far as pricing is concerned, their items have always been fairly priced in my experience.

Pretty good shop, nice quality items with prices on par with online stores pricing (plus you get the benefit of getting to hold the item and inspect it yourself). I mostly buy beading materials there, never had a problem. Not a super big fan of the policy requiring you to leave your bag/purse at the counter but it's not that big of a deal.

To all the bad reviews: If you are respectful then they will be as well.I love this place and have been going here for a while for beads, incense, and knives. The staff have always been kind and respectful to me. They do have to follow laws and ID customers for specific products as well as hold onto said objects until checkout if you are with people who do not have an id. Ive never once had an issue with them cheating me out of anything and it is always at the front for when I am ready to check out.

Went in a few days ago on a date with my hubby and bought a couple bracelets. After leaving the store and driving away, I get to looking at them closer, and notice that both of them are missing stones. Which I guess explains why one was cheap, and the other was insanely high priced and conveniently marked down some. It will definitely teach me to think I was getting a good deal and to look more closely at what I'm paying for. She could have said something to me, instead of scamming me. It feels like a waste and I won't be going back.

I came here to visit from Florida. And this store is lovely. Very lovely kind and warm people. You can come here and make your own bracelets from scratch they have every genuine stone crystal bead and kind. Which is loved. I made some very beautiful high end bracelets and anklets for myself.

I'm really surprised to see any bad reviews of this place. I've been in several times, including with a gaggle of girls aged 2 through 15 who were curiously wandering and touching things. They've helped me repair broken jewelry, they've helped me create a special jewelry piece from scratch (including crimping things for me so I didn't have to buy tools to use at home), they've consulted on the best tools and beads to buy for my projects.... They were even totally understanding when one of my girls accidentally took a necklace with her out of the store and didn't realize till we were long gone. We returned and they were totally kind and understanding. All of these visits the staff have been friendly, helpful, patient, and professional.

I set my phone on the counter. The staff acted like they were helping me find my phone . When the whole time when they had it . But when the cops got there they handed it over. The next day my debit card was used. Which my card information was in my phone. So I will definitely I’ll be posting videos about this and pressing charges. I know for a fact they used my card information. Which has already been reported to my bank. I will never come here again.

I have been shopping at Northern Star for as long as I can remember. As a kid it was a true gift to visit the shop from out of town. Now I live closer and it still is. The bad reviews for the shop are very unfortunate so I wanted to leave an honest review. This is a small business that needs to be protected. A great supplier for cute little presents for people, beads, rocks, and jewlery! The employees are always so sweet!

The workers here are disrespectful, condescending and are uptight. I felt as if I was being watched the whole time I was in the store. Just a group of rude, judge mental and immature girls working here who have no idea what good customer service is. Felt judged as I had an American flag on my shirt and it’s most likely they would get triggered by this, lol.

Girl was rude and wouldn’t sell me a knife I wanted to buy for my boyfriend because I “didn’t have ID” I do not look 12 and am of age and I had a photo of my ID. She wouldn’t even let me hold the bag when i purchased it after my boyfriend showed them his ID and talked down to us. Rude uptight people. Will never come back.

I love this store and its selection of beads and charms! I always go here to get jewelry-making supplies :) The staff are really sweet and helpful as well, contrary to what the many false reviews here say.

DO NOT GO HERE, super off putting vibe in there weird weird staff all they do is stare you down and get mad for taking pictures, very uptight entitled people who try to be “welcoming” but are overall just disrespectful, if your sensitive don’t run a business or the business will run you ;)

Northern Star is a wonderful metaphysical shop that also carries an incredible amount of bead supplies. I don’t know how the place got on the “we hate you and we’re gonna take you down” list but I would bet the majority of the negative reviews are from people (and I use that term loosely) who haven’t even BEEN in the shop but just hate anything that goes against their personal belief system. This is a fun shop full of helpful people and cool merch.

It's sad to see people make up fake reviews because they watched a video and have never set foot in the store. It's a sad reflection on humanity because when you only hear one side of a story, that's all you have to go on and usually it's biased.I have been in here several times but never really got into it.Last week I decided I wanted to make a gift for a friend and do it when I spent the time to get into my project... This store opened up my mind and let my creative side take over. I could of easily spent 3 hours going through everything. It was amazing.Needless to say, I'm going back today. I can stop thinking about new things I can learn and do.

Was in the store when somebody came in and tried to record people in the store and was yelling and being disruptive, he was asked to leave politely and professionally multiple times. At least one person had a panic attack after being harassed personally in the store, and they were being very very unpleasant to people on the sidewalk out front, and keeping people from entering the business. Don’t believe everything you see in Tiktok. These people are extremely friendly and knowledgeable and are always willing to help when you have a genuine question, and in my entire time shopping there (multiple months) they’ve never been unkind to me or any customer that I’ve seen.

Its a shame how one encounter, posted to social media (Tiktok) could be so damaging. It was the attitude, rather than inquiring for any more info first. That could have been great publicity for you but now looks what happened instead. I’ve never been there so I can’t comment on the store, I’m just saying that was a missed opportunity and hopefully you find a way to get your audience back and find a new way of enticing potential customers instead of being so off putting. The store seemed cool but these reviews have been brutal, whether the are real or not, it’s rough.

Employees are super rude. Especially the lady with the glasses and big tacky mask. I would never go into a store like this to begin with but I happened to just be chilling outside with my brother taking a picture and she stormed outside and demanded that we leave. We told her nicely that we were just taking a picture. She was super sassy for no reason and threatened to call the police if we didn’t leave. Imagine getting mad at someone for taking a picture in public. What a loser. DON’T COME HERE OR EVEN GET CLOSE!

I'm a customer & felt uncomfortable because some guy was filming in front of the store. The employee with glasses nicely asked him if he could film somewhere else. I felt safe knowing that she cared about our privacy

the recent review bombings are shameful and ignorant at best. I have never felt uncomfortable shopping from here. Oregon law allows private property owners to prohibit recording without permission, as customers don’t have automatic consent to be on camera.the customer service has not been an issue for me. and the staff are always there to answer questions about their wares. occasionally staff will have to keep a close eye on customers who are around high-value or age restricted products, but otherwise I have had no issue browsing the store. this is to prevent theft, because they are a small business.

Since I am a real customer at this place and not a random person from the internet trying to hurt a small business, I figured I would write a review. This place is one of my favorite shops in town. It is a wonderful metaphysical store that has a great selection of incense, tapestries, and jewelry. I make jewelry and I love the selection of beads and charms they have. Love this place and always will!

Overall had a good experience the two people working that day were friendly and were able to help up kindly. I’ve been coming to this shop for years and have seen most of the same people working there. Never have I experienced rude behavior or mean things happening. And the jewelry I buy from there has lasted me years long as well. I love all the products the offer.

Talk about rude and unprofessional. Understand you may have been concerned about what was going on outside, common sense would’ve told you it was a simple vlog after an explanation was given, but the saleswoman chose to escalate the situation. Nobody appeared to be being filmed other than the young man in he video, if anybody else including a customer had a complaint then that’s another situation. But to go out of the way to be rude, disrespectful, isn’t right whatsoever. Especially when he is on public property and not within the store or doing anything to violate anyone else’s rights or space.

As I was recording some things in the store because I wanted to document my experience this lady In glasses literally snatched my phone from my hands and told me “no recording”. Very unprofessional, disrespectful and she shouldn’t be working in customer service. Lost my business for sure. Not sure if it was because I was a man but I felt extremely discriminated against as she told me “of course he thinks he can do whatever he wants” like lady I was just trying to share what was supposed to be a good experience with my friends on social media.
