Incredible team, I’m so grateful they were recommended when I was looking for an avian vet for my pigeon. Dana is amazing, the entire staff is amazing, and they got me in the same morning I called asap because of the condition he was in.They immediately helped with pain management and kept him calm and comfortable the entire time, and even the sedation process for a radiograph was smooth.Don’t know what’s going on with my little guy yet (waiting on results) but I am so incredibly grateful to the team getting us in so quickly and making sure we had pain medication and food for him to heal quickly. He has improved so much over the past 24 hours and I am so grateful to the doctor and staff for helping us so quickly.Avian vets are few and far between, but I sure am glad to know Dana and would very highly recommend the entire office- another friend had a very positive experience with their dog a few years back. Thanks again all and see you soon for his follow up :)

Very nice vet! I brought in my four rats in under suspicion that they all had an upper respiratory infection and the vet and vet tech were both very nice and sweet and excited to see my rats. They were very gentle and very helpful and the pricing was very good for all four of them together.

From the friendly front staff, to the hands-on team, everyone was kind, friendly and understanding. I feel thankful to have found a team of such caring, animal loving individuals to take care of not only our 4-legged family member, but also show compassion to the humans as well.

I had to take my sweet momma rat in for euthanizeing just last night. They stayed open passed close to fit me in, they were so kind and thoughtful throughout the entire process. As a rat owner, I feel like often times people don't empathize because "they are just a rat" but they saw her with the same eyes I do! Hands down best vet experience I've had.

When you own exotic pets and live in a rural area, proper vet care is essential and unfortunately, not easily accessible. The Eastgate crew made us feel welcomed and, more importantly, our birds felt comfortable. That's what truly matters.

Such caring and knowledgeable staff in a comfortable atmosphere! My dog loves going into the office to see the staff. They always take wonderful care of him and answer all my questions. Plus I never feel “pushed” into decisions about my dog’s care. We love Eastgate!

My experience here was okay, staff was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. I also did not have to wait in the lobby as they took me right in. My issue here is their prices are absolutely INSANE. If you’re coming in here wanting to get your cat up to date on everything and get them fixed it’s going to cost you. Between the first exam, shots, dewormer and getting my cat spayed it was going to cost me 788.08. I realized there are a few unnecessary things such as a microchip and a nail trim but I was absolutely shocked to see how expensive all of it was. For the exam and first round of medications it was 142.25. You can literally buy the same dewormer online for less than 10 dollars. If you’re not worried about money then you should have no issue but this just seems like a robbery to me. My cat isn’t even 2 yet and they told me she had periodontal disease and that they would also remove some of her teeth during her spay but when I got home and looked all she had was plaque… I hope this can help someone else decide because I didn’t know any better and I am now short 150 dollars.

I found this place while desperately looking for an exotics vet. I was not disappointed. The staff were so sweet and there was a gal who was over the moon ecstatic to see our gerbil when we brought her in to be checked out. I immediately felt comfortable with them handling my little girl. The vet herself was very kind and very empathetic when it came time to euthanize our pet. They were patient and gave me privacy to say my goodbyes. The staff mirrored my sorrow and were patient. It's obvious that these folks do their job for the love of what they do. I am happy I found them and recommend them to everyone I meet looking for a vet. They are great folks and they pay attention when you express the concerns for the pet. They are thorough and answer all your questions as best they can.

We have a very high standard of care for our arthritic FIV+ 13 year old cat and Eastgate exceeds our expectations every time. They remember him, call after every appointment to check in on him, and are always happy to see him. They truly seem to care about him as much as we do and are always looking out for him. Our doctor specifically (Dr. Kelly) will always go the extra mile to do research and consult specialists to help us make the most informed decision possible. The prices are pretty good. We were having some sticker shock about a more expensive procedure one time, but when we called around, Eastgate was the cheapest besides the farm vet. The average visit seems to run $100-$300 depending on whether or not labs or prescriptions are needed. We are always able to get in on short notice (usually next day) which is great. It is so nice to have peace of mind about this stuff, we are so happy we found this place.

Wow, we were really impressed with how much more enjoyable the experience was this time than it was a year ago when we were in. I attribute the great experience to the doctor who examined our dog and the technician who took us back and handled the initial part of the visit. They were both great to work with. Dr. Moses seemed very knowledgeable, helpful and had a great doggie bedside manner. When the young tech took us back to the exam room she checked with us to confirm what the purpose(s) of our visit was for; and she was really transparent about the products. We really appreciated that she listened to us and addressed any and all of our concerns; was not pushy at all. Unfortunately, I forgot her name. But, after Dr Moses came in and he performed his exam, we went ahead and muzzled our dog, so the nice tech could take our dog back to trim his nails. Our dog is not a big fan of people picking him up, or having people poke or prod him. If he likes you, he'll show it and appreciate all the love and affection you show him. But, it's on his terms. I think that's because he is a rescue dog. But, when the tech took him back, she put him in a sling and had his nails trimmed in no time at all.The purpose for our appointment/visit was because it was time to order more flea medicine for our dog; and he needed a current wellness visit, in order to be able to get a new prescription. They have a pharmacy and an online pharmacy, as well. Also it made sense for us to get his nails trimmed at the same time. As for the flea meds, our dog has had no problems with using Credelio and we wanted to get another prescription for it, rather than try a new medication which we had no idea whether or not it would work. We weren't using the companion worm medicine, Interceptor Plus, because when we were in there last year the staff at that time indicated they were unable to draw blood from our dog and so, as a result, we didn't want to put our dog's life and health in jeopardy by giving him that medication if it could cause him harm. Because Credelio and Interceptor Plus are not inexpensive products, the staff at this clinic/hospital/pharmacy are now offering an alternate medication which treats for fleas & ticks, as well as for worms; and it is much more afordable. We explained to the tech and the doctor why we had not been using the Interceptor Plus and also that we were happy with having no flea issues since we started the Credelio; and they didn't try to push products or services that we didn't desire. As a customer, that was really a plus, to me. Likewise, there were some other shots which we could have had them give our dog. However, due to their transparency and knowing that our dog is never at a kennel and doesn't get along with other dogs anyway, there was not any real likelihood he would contract any of the diseases or conditions those other medications would have helped to prevent; and we really appreciated that they didn't push us to get those meds either. They explained what those other meds were for and the environment most conducive to contracting the health conditions which those meds were designed to prevent. But, they let us make our own call on whether or not to get those shots. Dr Moses also gave us some tips, let us watch a short video and had some helpful suggestions for our dog and for our next visits. It was a great experience! 😁 But, I forgot to take any pics of the lobby or the parking lot and exterior

I’ll start with saying that everyone here is kind and patient. They clearly have the customer service thing down. However, that’s not what’s important with pet care. This is NOT, absolutely NOT, the place to take your exotic pets. I can’t even get into the convoluted details that involve both times we brought our exotic here. It would take a very long time. But both times we left wondering what exactly was happening. Many times they mentioned having to consult with experts before advising us about care. (The first time they were supposed to consult with an expert and get back in touch with us and never did.) Unfortunately, we tried them a second time, and it was worse. Not once did they suggest that maybe we should see an exotic vet with more experience. It’s obvious that they don’t know what they’re doing but won’t send you somewhere else. The vet we went to for a second opinion gave us an immediate diagnosis and treatment plan. The entire treatment plan, including surgery, is less than what Eastgate charged us for two x-rays and for a couple of vets to be like “well, there’s something there; let me read to you what the experts said about your x-rays” -- this was a complete waste of time, money, and was unnecessarily stressful to our pet

Warning: don’t do the wellness annual plan unless you need every item. I was told incorrectly that if I canceled the plan I would get reimbursed for the items I didn’t use. Instead of fixing the mistake (they acknowledged I was told incorrect information) and reimbursing me for the vaccines my dog didn’t need they refused. The only item I could remove was the 6 months of expensive heartworm/flea medicine that I hadn’t received yet. This was my first visit and I will not be returning. In addition, the reason I came in was for his annual check up and to look at two bumps on his skin (nose and back) and they couldn’t tell me if they were a concern or not. I took him to my old vet in Salem and they were able to tell me the bumps were nothing to worry about. This was a very expensive learning experience that I hope others can learn from and avoid.

I was in need of an emergency avian vet, and they got me in as soon as possible, squeezed me in between appointments and actually cared about my bird. Very affordable. Kind people, lots of help

The office staff, techs and doctor were all very friendly and kind. I felt like the vet took the time necessary to listen to my concerns and explain what she was seeing as she did her exam. I had an excellent experience and would readily recommend Eastgate to anyone looking for a small animal vet!

Granddaughter has exotics & 1 of her dragons got worms. We're from Harrisburg without any vet. She called places and her Mom called Eastgate. They got her in that afternoon (if we could get there by 4:30). We made it, the asst. took them back, examined & tests run. My Granddaughter waited for results & she had to come back for meds and instructions. I loved that the entire staff saw how nervous she was (teenager with her 1st vet visit) and made her feel better. (Encouraging her to keep being a great dragon momma. Good job for paying attention & even better that she knew it needed seen by vet.) I think the prices are a bit high & NO payment plans. Parking is a challenge if you park in the handicapped spot. There's another spot directly behind & if someone parks there before you get out... it's a challenge.

I was hoping this was a veterinary clinic that cares for animals, but it's seems like it's about money !I know what's going on with my dog, and ask for a little advice on what to give her for allergies, but they think I need to make an appointment, another $ 75 dollars I can't afford, and then they will recommend something. She's 12 years old, I've had all those years, I' know what's going on with my dog.

Very nice people who genuinely care for our animals. They also were up front about what procedures/bloodwork they recommend and which were maybe not necessary at the moment, which helps a lot financially.

I went to take my dog to get his nails clipped for 33$. he just turned one. Well two visits later and 300 down the drain still no nails done this is bull. How am I supposed to get his nails done u can't keep rescheduling and paying more and more each time!! I'm very unhappy. One of the lady's there said there should have been no reason they didn't get them done. Erggggg

They are awesome & caring at this place. Dr. Moses helped my cat, with consideration given to my budget, even though the symptoms didn't give us much to go on.Not sure how the prices compare to other clinics, I have been going to a different facility for several years, so I need to do some research. One radiograph (xray) was pretty pricey. The only suggestion I have is to use a different sanitizer (or perhaps replace the flooring, as it IS an old, but lovely building) as there is a distinct urine odor. I have worked at a vet clinic, & recognize that some days, animals do animal things, plus, we were there in the afternoon, so the smell may have been a transient thing.Bottom line: nice staff, good doctor, effective care. Recommend! 🙂

Unfortunately I was here to put my boy down, but the staff was very supportive, patient, and accommodating for my 10 year old and I as we mourned. Everything was explained before it happened and we were given privacy until we chose to leave. On a more positive note, previous trips have been as good as can be expected. Through exams, detailed post-op instructions, and responsive whenever an issue came up. Highly recommended for all pet needs

After seeing our exotic animal, they wanted another Dr to take a look and was going to charge us another exam fee. Lol bloodwork is sooooo expensive compared to other vets in town. They were going to charge us to keep the animal for a couple hrs and not give us the option to hold the animal ourselves in our car lol. Beware .

not a bad place but they are not good for urgent things. scheduled to pick up parasite antibiotics for my bearded dragon MONDAY and they didn't fill it till the last 30 minutes of them being open on WEDNESDAY. they pushed for me to get the fecal sample in to do absolutely nothing to get it to me quickly. the guy i talked with on the phone today was sweet, he offered to stay back after work so i could come get them but i live too far out to make it there in time. there is NO communication with Eastgate

Not a great experience at all. They treat you like a number and just shuffle you in without introduction or warmth. They have no compassion for people in emotional shock when springing enormous costs for basic preventative healthcare. Their prices are a scam. $600 for two kittens to have two vaccines and have blood work done?? $800 for a spay for ONE cat?! It’s asinine, if I travel an hour out of my way to my usual vet, it’s 1/4 the cost that this clinic is charging ALL TOGETHER for two cats to be spayed and get treated with way more respect. There was one front desk lady that was extremely apologetic for the ridiculous cost while another stated she wouldn’t give me a payment plan because “I’ve never been in there before and she doesn’t know me”…so you pick and choose who can get an affordable plan?? Extremely disgusting behavior, I would never recommend this place and I will not be returning.
