I brought my my 14 lb dachshund to DVM Cunningham on an emergency basis ($85) because he was jamming his paw down his throat. I advised them that this had begun after he spent an afternoon chewing on tree stumps exploring our old-growth property. He was salivating heavily and having trouble drinking water. Cunningham would only perform a physical exam if he was put under general anesthesia because she was afraid she would be bitten.- She would not anesthetize unless $175 in lab tests were done first.- Since he was anesthetized, he had to be crated which was an additional charge.- The diagnosis? A 2-inch twig lodged between his back teeth which was found during the physical exam.Total Bill - $586.00After reviewing this experience, I realized that I had witnessed the coordinated execution of a carefully constructed process designed to leverage my pets health in order to extract significantly more money than was necessary.MVH strives to appear transparent in disclosing the details of each service and its associated costs; but are not transparent that their process is designed to charge for unnecessary tests and procedures. The vet techs are trained to defuse your frustration by being sympathetic, understanding, and agreeable. When all else fails, they use shameless flattery of your sick pet to defuse the anger you feel when realizing that your trusted Vet leveraged your pets health for greed

Service is AWESOME. They respond well to my pets and I trust their opinions. However, you'll pay a premium for good service. This place milks every penny out of a visit. Worth it, yes. But, make sure you can afford a basic visit before you even walk in the door.

So glad we found MVH-Coquille. We love taking our Corgi puppy to them. Excellent service all around, couldn't be happier. They are thoughtful, kind and caring to both pet and owners.

Dr. Lisa is an awesome vet. Staff is very friendly. The reason for only 4 stars: they were so busy that they didn't have time to really explain what was going on with my pup and I didn't have time to ask any questions. Also they have gotten very very expensive.

We have been bringing all of our pets here for years and they're always so kind and great with them. Plus, they're affordable and work with you on pricing. Highly recommend.

My husband is an over the road truck driver and we travel with him, the dog, cat and myself 24-7. Our pets require to be at their best because of all the encounters they have all over America. The staff is always welcoming to our "pouring in" off the road to get our German Shepherd Dog checked over and his vaccinations ( if necessary) done. The veterinarian and staff go far and beyond the normal exam. They are extremely patient and never rush you in the exam room, which is appreciated when we are gone most of the year and have to fill in the veterinarian with all the things our dog encounters around the United States. When he injured himself jumping into the semi truck, the best of care was given in doing his x-rays and exam ( he was fine after six weeks). The best thing is that the veterinarian knows the strain of having a pet on the road and she always makes sure our dog and cat has the medication they need and the best flea control. Sounds basic but it's not, this little vet clinic in Coquille gives us the one on one special attention and quality veterinarian care that makes us always come back to see only them when we get home. Should the dog need to go to a vet! Lol!

Do not bring your pet here in an emergency. If you have to stay away from Cunningham. I am very aware that things happen and animals don’t make it. I brought my mom‘s dog here because she was having trouble in labor. She had already been in labor without delivering for eight hours. We brought her in before she had shown any signs of distress. There was plenty of time to save this dog. First words out of her mouth was are you gonna fix her? (My mom’s choice. But yes) We had a scan done and found out that they were three puppies left. Every chance she got she threw are you gonna have her spayed?? This woman was more focused on her pushing spaying than the issue at hand. This dog could have been saved. Who waits till the next day to have a c-section than putting the poor mama into labor for 34 hours. This dog died in my mom’s arms 2 minutes from the vets office to drop her off for her c-section.I left 3 numbers for them to call and they called the one I specifically told them wouldn’t have signal- yet waiting on an answer on whether we wanted them to spay her or not. Why was an emergency C-Section not taken more seriously?? Especially from a lady who has a “special connection” with little dogs??We are heartbroken and there was plenty of time to save this fine little dog.

I have been bringing in my 2 english bulldogs here for a few years now and it's so nice to walk in and get greeted and doggies get love and called by name as soon as we walk in. Staff is very welcoming and the vets we have seen have been very thorough. Dr. Cunninham has been wonderful and shows a lot of compassion and very thorough with diagnosis, testing and love for my furbabies. So happy with everyone here.

Told me my cat would either need to be put down or have it's leg amputated and would need to be on painkillers the rest of its life.Charged me $700.Got a second opinion from O'Donnell at Coquille Animal Hospital, he immediately realized the cat was having an allergic reaction to fleas. Prescribed a flea killer for every pet in the house, two days later my cat was fine. This doctor has been responsible for people losing their pets before it was necessary. They should not be in business. THey also over-prescribe painkillers, while we were in there they prescribed the same one to 4 other patients, and a year earlier the same one to both my grandpas dogs who we later realized didn't need them at all.

I went in with a new puppy from CCAS. My GPS brought me to the vet in Myrtle Point, so I was about 8 minutes late, but I called ahead to let them know what was happening. In the reception area, the employees were whispering, about what I am not sure, but unprofessional behavior nonetheless. We were given about five minutes in the exam room. The vet did not read the chart before coming into the room, she didn’t know I had adopted this puppy. She removed the staples from the puppy’s s spay (which I could have had done for free from Snipped) and she asked if I had any other questions. I mentioned my puppy had dry skin, she recommended fish oil, told us we were too early for her next set of vaccinations, ordered a de-wormer, and sent us on our way. When I went to present the CCAS voucher, I was asked if I had told them about said voucher when I made the appointment (the voucher does not say I have to do this), I said no, and they informed me they were out of their two donated vet visits for the month. I was charged 55$ for the 5 minute visit where my puppy was not examined at all besides an earlier vet tech temp check. I was charged the fee for the equipment to use the staple remover, and I was charged over $20 for a single de-worming pill when you can easily buy a three pack for less than this at our local stores. What a scam. I left feeling embarrassed I had fallen for such a poor quality veterinary examination and made to feel stupid for trusting the CCAS voucher, which I had used within the ten day limit mentioned on the voucher. I will not be going back. I am sorry so many in Coos County have to settle for such subpar care.*Your comment shows you continue to not read or listen.

I was in a panic a few weeks ago when my cat showed emergency health problems. It was a Saturday and no vet clinics could take her in without an appointment, and they were too full to accept new patients the regular way. MVH charged a much smaller emergency fee and treated my pet with absolute love and dignity. She was too far gone to make it, but they took great care of her passing and sent my family a card in the mail a couple weeks later that really touched us. We all stood over the card and read it, and had a good cry. Stardust was a special part if our family, and this pet hospital made the traumatic experience of losing her the easiest it could be. Thank you to the vets who took care of our little one. We miss her badly but are so appreciative that you guys made the experience bearable.

Wonderful Veterinarian and staff, our dog Ollie needed to be seen and MVH got him in the same day, we were very worried about Ollie's symptoms, they ran some tests, got him some meds and he is 100% back to himself!! If you're looking for a caring, competent, Veterinarian this is the place to bring your pet!!!!

My 18 yr old dog went in for emergency and was diagnosed with kidney failure. Didn't think he had much longer to live. Went home with a treatment plan to keep him comfortable. It has been months now and he is doing remarkable. He is his old self . We are so grateful to the docs and staff for always being there for us. Thank you so much Myrtle Veterinary.

We took both our dogs here after seeing recommendations on Facebook. It was a 45 minute drive and it was completely worth it!!! The whole experience from making the appointment, checking in, the vet assistant and the vet were so friendly and amazing!!!!Plus when we received our bill we were amazed how inexpensive it was, compared to other vets we've been to in the past. Thank you so much for caring for our fur-babies! Your office is wonderful

Terrible emergency protocols. Was not given all my choices for my dogs care. Brushed off and given propaganda. My dog died and I had her in time to be saved. They took my money and gave me no real help. Now my baby girl is dead

They gave my pooch ringworm refuse then refused treatmentEdit--I would like to respond to the owners comment. I did not refuse treatment. I was told the only way to treat my dog was to muzzle her and take a skin sample. Her previous vet was able to diagnosis and prescribe antibiotics with out manhandling and muzzling my pooch. Thankfully there was a vet that was more concerned with treating my pooch then collecting my money

This is usually my go to vet, normally they are exceptional at what they do everyone is nice and friendly. However I went in the other day for check ups on my oldest dog (this was her first time going) and my pup. The vet tech was super nice and helpful, but when Brair Cunningham came in she was super rude and wouldn’t let me say anything about my dogs (to which I live with and know when their bodies have changed) I wanted to find out if one of them was pregnant and when I said this she replied nastily “she doesn’t look pregnant so I can’t do anything” wouldn’t even offer an ultrasound (which is literally for checking early pregnancy), but if she would have let me talk I would have explained that her nipples have gotten bigger and appear to be forming milk bags, along with her stomach has gotten bigger, but again like I said she wouldn’t let me talk about my dogs. Then when it was time for them to revive their rabies she just jabbed the needle in them. I’ve been to the vet numerous times since I was a child and have never seen anyone behave and treat my/my family’s animals in that way. It was highly unprofessional and for anyone going in the future I would not recommend being seen by Brair Cunningham.

I have two older pups that have required fairly extensive care over the last year, and MVH has been exceptional and excellent at every turn. The staff and vets clearly care deeply for their patients and take a lot of pride in their work. Communication and follow up are great. Their pricing is also very reasonable for the top quality they provide. Highly recommend!

I loved that they cared about my very best friend on earth as he was not scared. Though I was emotional to hear the outcome of my little buddy, they still did it w/ compassion.. I couldn't have asked for a better place that day, I would recommend these Amazing people...

Really unfortunate experiences with pets and livestock. Despite having positive prior experiences, and good interactions with some vets (Dr. Kramer is great!) they gave no useful information and no effective care (especially Dr. Cunningham - she seems completely devoid of empathy or compassion). We had to refuse tests that were not at all related to symptoms and paid for tests that gave no conclusive results. This office endangered the life of my livestock by having us wait to bring them in and then were still unable to provide actionable information or care. If you have animal or livestock needs or questions, save yourself the time and money and go to Milk-E-Way so you can do it yourself.

Although I wasn't expecting the high price, but they got me in within 3 days and nobody else was even taking new patients! And their service was Top Notch! And now my cat is doing much better I will be doing business with them again!

The staff was friendly and listened to this fur baby mothers rambling. Our kitty was unable to vocalize her self, and would cough occasionally. Dr. Kramer checked her out thoroughly and pronounced her healthy. Dr. Thought she had gotten something that irritated her throat, prescribed a course of steroids. The cost was very reasonable. And glad to know our kitty is healthy.

I am very pleased with MVH. They are very caring and kind. I call for my dogs medicine and Brooklynn is right there getting them. They are so kind as to mail them to me as I don’t live in the city that they are at. Awesomeness.
