Update(10/23): 30 days, 120 miles. Dozens of compliments. I can spread my toes out now and the painful blisters are a memory. my feet are healed and clean of blemishes that were holding me back. Walking is a pleasant activity again. I am very grateful!Original Review (9/23): I walk 5 miles a day, 6 days a week. I normally get box store specials, but because my last pair fell apart in one month, I decided a serious change was in order. I stopped by Wild Coast dedicated to the prospect of finding a better shoe, but not entirely sure I'd be able to afford a better shoe.The first thing the owner did was to scan my feet. I love this. (you can wear your socks) It showed me how my feet are shaped, the real size I wear, how I stand, it was amazing. It turns out I've been wearing a size too small for a long time! After this I was able to try on at least 6 or 7 different pairs of shoes. I'm not a color fanatic, I just don't want blisters anymore. What really got me was the careful way the owner listened and responded to what I said, such as "It pinches here." or "The heel is really a bit too hard for me." It was very dignified and I felt respected. I wound up with a lovely brightly colored pair of shoes in the right size with loads of room for my toes. I can expect these to last somewhere in the range of 400 miles. So at the very least 3 to 4 months. The price tag was not the sticker shock I thought it would be. While I was paying $35 for box store specials, I was expecting to see price tags of hundreds of dollars. I was pleasantly surprised when my two favorite pairs hit ~$80 to $100.The shop does not just carry shoes, they also have loads of other equipment dedicated to active walking and running. Shirts, shorts, inserts, socks, a few exercise snacks (high protein bars, etc) It's a really dedicated store with an owner who is just as dedicated to the community. She is a local cross country instructor and belongs to other running groups as well. I am so pleased to have gotten up the courage to go in. If it is busy and you are not just window shopping, I thoroughly suggest coming back when it is quiet. It's worth it to make a thoughtful selection. I can't wait to try my new shoes out on my 5 mile walk this afternoon. I think I'll be looking forward to putting these on every day!

I love that we have a local store that I can pop into and walk out with quality running shoes and gear. The shoes cost the same as online and I walk out of the store with them in hand. I can’t think of a better win/win! And not only can I find kicks for myself, but for my kiddos also. She carries a variety of sizes, widths, and styles.The service is so personalized and the staff actually know what they’re talking about (so refreshing in specialized retail!). They are runners and test the gear and only carry items they use or have researched.This store is a gem in our area & a runners dream. Shop local!

One of the young girls working on here is very rude, I own 4 pair of Brooks and was looking to replace one pair. Her attitude made it very apparent that she thinks she’s better than everybody else. She was very snobby.. I will not return. I will order off of Amazon as I have in the past. The first thing this girl said to me when I walked in the door was are you going to buy a pair of shoes? For her information I’m a nurse and make tenfold the amount she makes. She needs to loose the attitude.

This place is amazing: staff and owner. It’s amazing that a local independent owned running store has such great running gear and the latest gadgets for runners safety. I would highly recommend buying your shoes from a small local business.

All around fantastic store, fitness clothing/merchandise, equipment for your shoe needs, and also people!I went in for shorts and found exactly what I wanted. The other items on sale were very tempting.The owner is the sweetest and so helpful. I learned she is very active in the community, literally. hahaI will definitely go back.

What a wonderful shoe shopping day in Coos Bay. Jennie's shoes recommended Wild Coast as they didn't have what I needed. Really nice lady there. Then another really nice lady at Wild Coast sells me some shoes. I get just a few blocks away and notice they are worn and ripped. I head to take them back and the wonderful gal at Wild Coast is so embarrassed that she refunds my money and gives me the shoes for free. That is customer service! Every time I am in Coos Bay and need shoes it is Wild Coast for me. SHOP THERE, great place.

Went it with a rather vague idea of what I needed (newbie runner here) and they were so kind and friendly. I ended up getting the first pair they reccomended (Brooks Glycerin 20's) and holy comfortable. Its 1000% worth coming into the store versus ordering shoes online. Will be back!

First off, with a lot of help from Amarissa, I got the best pair of running shoes I’ve ever had. Next problem was blisters - she solved that too with great blister free socks. They WORK! Most recent I have to give some background for: Amarissa does a huge amount more in our community to keep runners running. She doesn’t just have a store - she coordinates runs and I’m sure a lot more. Last run I didn’t get the TShirt and it got taken by someone else. Somehow Amarissa not only found me a shirt, she remembered who my family is and went way out of her way to get that shirt to me, enlisting my daughter to deliver it. Speaking of kids, she also coaches the high school XC team. Bottom line: superb store run by an amazing person.

The Owner is really nice. They have this high-tech thing that you stand on and it creates a 3D view of your feet and measures your foot pressure. I've never experienced anything so cool and interesting. I'm just buying sneakers and I'm getting individualized recommendations based on how I stand on my feet. I ended up buying the most comfortable sneakers I've ever worn. 110% recommended.

I have to say this was the most personalized experience I’ve ever had purchasing a running shoe! I love to run but have typically only purchased online because I CLEARLY didn’t know what I was missing, and I will never go back to online running shoe shopping! The owner took the time to ensure I had the best fit (tried on about 4 pairs) and even got to run on their very fancy treadmill in store to get a sense of how they’d feel in action. I’m so excited the Oregon Coast has a store like this, finally!

Top of the line shoe and running shop with professional fitting, a self-propelled treadmill for shoe trials, and a 3D foot scanner. Plenty of great running and workout gear as well. Perhaps most importantly, the friendliness and accessibility of this small-town gem means that not only are you going to get some high quality products, but you'll get high quality customer service and some expert running advice as well.
