Super nice, salt of the earth kind of people work/run this place. I rented the big loft room for two nights. Room was clean and comfortable. Loved the big wrap around porch that is shared with other guests, it kind of creates a homey vibe for everyone. Small things like the ashtrays being cleaned every morning just are the small kind of detail that shows these people care about your stay. Just across the street is a great restaurant called Ponderosa Public house. Very down to earth people run that business as well, and the food is amazing, scratch kitchen in the middle of nowhere!

Me and my wife decided to make a trip from seattle down to Sacramento and just book hotels as we go! We saw this place and called, the lady that answered was very nice! We stayed in the cow boy room and it reminded of a room at grandmas, small, basic, and actually cozy! We went down too the liquor store we sat out on the porch and had a few beverages which was nice! I enjoyed the history of the building and all the old wood! Id go back!

Hotel is located near the highway, sound insulation is not good and you can hear all the traffic noise. So, make sure you have a pair of ear plugs to sleep well. Carpet was not very clean. The bed in the room was OK.There are couple places to eat around the hotel (I did not visit them, though).40 min drive time to Crater Lake park.

Do not book online! We were charged for 2 nights when we stayed only one night, now I cannot get hold of anyone there to get a refund. The lobby has an unpleasant smell which would have turned us away if we had just walked in to see if a room was available. The room appeared to have been cleaned by a teenager that was being punished, there were signs that things had been wiped down but no effort was made to actually get them clean.Save your money and sleep in your car.

We arrived late on a Sunday, an Unexpected snowstorm came in. We passed the town and 25 miles south we slid on black ice and overturned a truck. On our way back into town the fire department dropped us off at the pilot station right across the street. My husband and I were with our three kids. As we’re waiting for the state troopers I decided to look for a hotel room. I went straight across the street. When I arrived I was a little scared. I usually stay at JW Marriott or Hilton. This is no JW and no Hilton but the service we received, and the treatment we got after having a rollover car accident was amazing. The rooms are older but they’re very comfortable. We got a two bedroom, 2 bed room with a roll out bed for my 3rd boy. It was clean and Exactly what we needed. They even let us day all day the next day our checkout was not till 8 PM because the Amtrak train arrived at that time. This type of hotel is not what I’m used to but we will definitely come back and visit and stay, then head over to the chalet restaurant down the street. Definitely recommend

I travel alot! I'm a no-frills kind of person, so my expectations aren't ever high. I only require a clean and safe room and I'm literally only there for a few hours to sleep. This is by far the worst place I've ever stayed. EVER. The pictures are not accurate online. This place is a complete disaster. No one works the front desk, so if you have an issue, you're out of luck. I received check in instructions via text and my room key was left on the front counter for me to pick up. Just sitting on the counter with my name on it. I went to my room to find the door knob hanging off the door. I walked into an extremely dirty room that hadn't been cleaned in what looked like months. The beds were messy, there was dust piled sky high on everything. There were lights hanging off the wall over the head boards. The bathroom was worse. Mold all over the bottom of the shower, hair stuck to the floor, dirt in all crevices. No toiletries, not even a single wash rag. No towels of any sort and a half roll of toilet paper. I texted the number that gave me the check in instructions and received no response. I called the number and spoke to the rudest lady. I told her about the door knob and told her about the no towels issue because I really wanted a shower after strenuously hiking all day. She not only said "oh well, deal with it or leave", but then hung up on me. I checked for surrounding area hotels, but with it being 1030 at night, there were no options. I contemplated sleeping in my car, but being across the street from a truck stop, it wasn't safe. I went to the front counter to see if the woman on the phone ever showed up and there were guests in there also trying to get ahold of the manager due to their rooms and broken tvs. If I could give any rating, I wish I could give it a negative 500. This place is worse than worse. The lady could have at least brought over a washrag. The room lists amenities and towels and toiletries are listed. This place is a complete scam and deceitful. Do NOT stay here.

We stayed in the Rose Room on our honeymoon. They gave us free champagne and were enthusiastic about congratulating us. The rose theme was on point. Rose decorations everywhere, pink down to the trash can liner! There was even a cute book about gardening spirituality, from the Jesus perspective, which we enjoyed reading. There is a door to the room from inside the lodge hallway, and from outside on the deck. You can go out to the deck and down the stairs to your car without going though the lodge. Plus our room came with outdoor chairs on the shared balcony/deck.The Jacuzzi! The tub is great. Extremely clean, big enough for two, and deep. Getting in I was surprised how deep the water was, and we had no trouble getting hot water. We took a bath at night and one in the morning it was so good! Not much in town, the restaurant accross the street was mediocre. Trains to go right by, but somehow the noise and vibrations from passing trains didn't take away from the experience.

I never write negative reviews, but this felt pertinent as I had a very negative experience. The spot was okay to spend the night, the room was decent. But I feel as though I was fully swindled. We originally booked the room for $189 and walked out paying for $270 for a multitude of made up fees. We agreed to pay a $15 fee for a dog, makes sense (kind of crazy though, as the bed and couch had a ton of dog fur on it from a previous guest when we arrived). After we left they added a sneaky $40 to our bill for leaving 5 mugs and a pan in the sink without any information about a cleaning fee. Then, the emailed invoice amount said less than they actually charged. Somehow we ended up being charged $270 for one night at this place?! Not to mention there was only half a roll of toilet paper in the room and no other rolls? Definitely would not recommend.

It’s nothing fancy, definitely just a place to sleep and rest. We booked the room through Airbnb. Positives- very close to Crater Lake National Park, conveniently located next to two gas stations and KJ’s Cafe (great breakfast diner), the bed was comfortable and had extra blankets. Negatives- could have been cleaner. We wanted to turn the ceiling fan on but there was a lot of built up dust on it so we decided not to. There was also a lot of dog hair under the bed. The bathroom floor also didn’t seem to be very clean so we put down a towel. We only had one roll of toilet paper in the bathroom which we unfortunately didn’t notice until it ran out and we needed it… lol. It is located right off the main highway so it can be noisy if you’re a light sleeper, but I didn’t mind it too much.Overall, it could’ve been cleaner but it was cozy, comfortable, and conveniently located.

It was an interesting place to stay. It's very old, has a lot of history. Nothing fancy. Kind of like visiting Grandma at an old cabin. Don't expect a fancy bathroom. Those could use some updating. Overall it was clean, comfortable although could be a bit noisy from the road.

Check in was really easy, they sent me a link with a form to fill out so I just showed up and grabbed the key from the staff. The room was clean, it had a cowboy theme which I thought was cute. The surrounding restaurants weren’t as great - both were closed before they were advertised to be so we stopped by the market half a block away to grab some snacks. They had a selection of DVD’s that we were hoping to watch but turns out there wasn’t a DVD player in our room. Oh well. Overall the people at the hotel (and market) were friendly. It’s a roadside motel on the highway so I wasn’t expecting the works but it did the job.

Location was convenient (right off of highway 97), but it also meant there was serious road noise. Host was friendly, but we were mostly left to our own devices after checking in. The room we got had a microwave and minifridge. Beds were okay. There wasn't very much sound insulation between the rooms, so we could hear a neighboring room's TV/radio noise all night. Overall decent, but definitely nothing fancy.

If I had been walking in off the street I would have turned around after opening the door to the lobby. The smell was horrible. Unfortunately I had made the reservation thru Hotels.com and it was late enough that I knew I could not cancel the first night stay. There was no one there but a note to call a number. The person informed me that my key was on the desk.I told them that I would not be interested in the 2nd night, they told me that I had to contact Hotels.com to make changes.I contacted Hotels.com and they assured me that the 2nd night was cancelled. The Lodge billed me for 2 nights and now will not reply to any requests for them to refund me for 1 night.

We reserved the two room suite and arrived with a freak storm that knocked out the electricity in the entire town. The owner and "staff" (pretty sure they were family) were great. Gave us lamps, water, towels...you name it and brought us up to our weird and wonderful rooms...truly unique and excellently funky! Funky and weird but in a good way. The place was clean and the only think it reeked of was local history and stories of past travelers. We all loved it!!

On this trip alone this is the 11th hotel we stayed at. This is by far the worst. It took over an hour to get a hold of somebody just to let us check into our already reserved room (and that was only because another guest showed up that had a phone number for the owners). The shower head was for a very short person. The room was very small, the carpet was filthy, there was no trash can... Overall it was not a good experience.

I don't have anything bad to say about this place. Rooms are quite interesting and antique fashioned. Reliable hot shower with good water pressure. Clean and includes ample amenities at very reasonable rate. Located in the middle of Chemult within a short walk of eateries and the Amtrak.Felt like home away from home.

Just passing through so room was ok although some of the overhead lights were not working making the room a bit gloomy. Didn’t realize it in the evening but there was no toilet paper available in the room and no one at the front desk to help when we went to ask about it. Finally we had agreed to pay for the room at one price however we noticed after that our invoice included a number of additional fees (e.g. cleaning) adding about 30% additional cost from the original rate. We called to ask about what caused the fees and the manager was standoffish and unwilling to hear out our feedback. Overall, we were dismayed by the service we received which was particularly surprising since we were told new management was just put in and expected that to mean they were eager to make positive experiences happen.

Booked this because we were visiting crater lake and needed somewhere to stay that wouldn't cost and arm and a leg. I didn't know what to expect when checking in here. It has a very old style to it but our stay was awesome. Free movies downstairs and coffee/tea. We stayed in the cowboy room. I loved the old style bath tub. Will definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

The Dawson House is a very comfortable and friendly Motel. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the rooms are very cute and comfortable.I would love to stay here again. The history of original owners from 1929 to present owners is interseting. They do everything to make sure You are comfortable and completely happy with your stay.

Small, clean room with two beds, a queen and twin (we only needed the queen) making it kinda cramped. Old building with updated bathroom, though the shower was designed for Hobbits. Owner was nice, she let us into our room, turned up the heat (were there in Sept.) and asked if we knew how to use Dish Net (we did). Impressive list of channels with a DVD player. There were DVDs in the lobby you can take to your room and watch. Also a fridge and micro. There was free coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the lobby. Motel sits between a highway in front with lots of big rigs rolling by and train track in back making it rather noisy. Not good if you're a light sleeper. Good location if you're visiting Crater Lake. Btw, hotel was for sale when we were there, so if you're looking for an investment property...

An old place with a lot of charm. Our room (Rose Room) was small and quaint but very nice and comfortable. It had its own outside access to a balcony to enjoy the outside. Very friendly and helpful staff. I'd definitely stay here again.

Wonderful, historic property (circa 1929). If you are looking for an authentic mountain town lodge, this is it! Not cabin rustic but more 1950’s in its feel. Not fancy but comfortable and the owners were great.

One room bed $60, two beds $70 , suite with jacuzzi $95. This place felt like home. It was spotlessly clean, and stocked with everything u could possibly of forgotten right down to the silverware. Free DVD check out and book exchange was available. Direct TV and a wifi that actually was pretty quick. I never expected to find such a great place in a little town in the middle of no where. No comparison to the ran down overly priced motel across the street.

False advertising! Quaint and rustic are understatements...gloomy, dark and dirty are more like it!! Sat on the bed and could feel the springs coming thru! Only stayed for 10 minutes, had to get out! No refund either! Paid $145 for 10 minutes of disgust!!!! Save your money.

When I checked in there was food dated back from 2020 in the fridge. The sheets were still dirty and there was hair in the shower and sink. I asked the man at the front desk if I could get a refund due to the fact my room was disgusting. He apologized and said I won't be charged. Well, I was charged. I have called several times and they still refuse to refund me. This place should be shut down
