Beautiful little community of privately owned cabins managed by a friendly team, Jean was great during my impromptu reservation for a work trip and multiple phone calls. Right on the McKenzie River, endless views, fruit trees and berries growing on site, convenience store and Takoda's restaurant very close by, along with trailheads and plenty of outdoor recreation. The room was actually nicer than I thought it'd be being a an older cabin, relatively updated, clean, and comfortable. The location with a large deck overlooking the passing river was peaceful and pleasant as all of my trips to the McKenzie have been.Stayed in Old Man River cabin, single large room with bed, seating area, kitchenette with all essentials, TV, etc. This cabin is right next to the boat ramp, thus had some loading/unloading of rafters traversing the river. Still private, but frequented more than other areas most likely. Will definitely return again someday soon, & check out another cabin!~S

The cabin we rented was perfect for the 2 of us. The deck for river watching was fantastic. Had all the amenities that we needed. We did not require any service except 1 phone call prior to arrival and was a perfect conversation and very helpful. We hiked to waterfalls, checked out campgrounds, ate at local restaurants. We will be back!

Comfortable, quiet, clean. Our cottage was absolutely delightful! There was even a Christmas tree! I loved everything about it. The kitchen had everything we needed. There were plenty of pillows and blankets. The beds were comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. There was a great hiking trail just down the road. We will definitely be back.

I was seeking accomodations on the upper McKenzie river for five guys. Many provided sleeper sofas in addition to beds. McKenzie River Cottages has a wonderful log cabin which accomadated the five of us quite comfortably. The cabin is clean, free of dust and bugs, very well equipped with all you need; right down to fresh coffee beans. Microwave, range, oven, dishwasher, and washer, dryer. Nice comfy beds and nice furniture. I would return in a minute. The place is great!

So relaxing, falling asleep to the sound of a river and waking up to one, having coffee on the deck:) such great people who helped us too.Nearby activities: Woods!!Safety: Felt safe!Food & drinks: The restaurant in town was how we found it

I've always wanted to stay at this intriguing place, and now that I have, I cannot stop thinking about returning! We stayed in the Honeymoon cabin, which was right in the river. We saw hawks chasing their prey, listened to the hypnotic power of the flowing McKenzie, and sat on the deck to watch the rain 'refill' the river. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The cabin itself had everything you might need for a short stay. Kitchen utensils, pots and pans, towels, dishes, coffee maker, toaster and, most importantly, a wine bottle opener! Seriously, the details that went into this particular little home had me exploring all the drawers and doors for little secrets. The fireplace is magnificent and there were even some flashlights - with working batteries- and plenty of books and information about the area.Outside, there are a couple of Adirondack chairs that are placed in a comfortable setting overlooking the water.Last, but not least, there are no prying eyes! You have no view of the neighbors when you are on the back deck. This is a good thing, in case you want to..you know, have some privacy. The pictures attached to this post show the view from the back deck.I will be back. I, we, promise.

We stayed here recently just a getaway with the husband and myself .. We loved the privacy and the peace and quiet. Was absolutely beautiful and Jeanne is very nice and she goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need during your stay. Thank you Jeanne. So very for your loss of your home!😞 The wild fire did a number this year to say the least so many people lost their homes and the town of blue river pretty much gone. Was very heartbreaking to drive and see all this my heart felt for the community and everyone that lost their homes. I was thankful to have these beautiful cottages to retreat to and find peace in watching the McKenzie river..

Due to a cancellation at this site , we were able to stay for two days in little cabin. It has everything you need and nothing you don’t. A king size bed, a kitchenette (with cooking pans), silverware, microwave, fridge, I could go on. But what’s in the cabin is only part of what makes this place amazing. Run by a very nice lady and her furry companion, this is the place to come and relax. Put your self on mountain time, to enjoy the beautiful views.

This is the most amazing place to stay. My husband and I enjoyed time away the weather was good the cabin was extremely clean and cozy. It had everything we needed. My heart goes out to those who live in this area as so many lost everything in a tragic wildfire last year. If you have the opportunity to go through shop local support their businesses and stay at the McKenzie River cottages you won’t be sorry.

We had a wonderful stay and we plan to be back. The area is beautiful and the owner was very helpful. The cabin was clean and private. We stayed in little Rainbow. It was cozy and on the river. The mattress was VERY comfortable. Plenty of hooks to hang things, which I appreciate. Loved that the cabin had a tub and not just a shower. The room had a TV that played dvds. There were some good movies in a drawer, but some of them were missing from their cases. It looks like the takodas convenience store either rents out or sells dvds but we were fine with what we had.The kitchenet had everything you needed to do some modest cooking, a microwave, stove, fridge, pull out cutting board, pots, dish soap, etc. We were also impressed with the Takodas restaurant a little way down the road- try the root beer on tap. They also own a convenience store which has some decent looking counter food and many more different items than expected. I heard they sell soft serve ice cream in the summer.Overall fantastic stay; great for a peaceful getaway.

We had a magical week of running rivers and crackling fires. The staff was helpful without being intrusive. The cabin was clean and well stocked. We can't wait to go back.

Fantastic little cottages right on the McKenzie! While we didn't stay there, my fiance and I stopped by to see what the amenities and area were like for our upcoming wedding. While we haven't made any decisions yet, we're definitely interested in the area and these little cottages. The lady at the front desk was incredibly helpful and allowed us to freely wander the unoccupied units. Each courage was uniquely different and we were thoroughly impressed. The pricing structure seemed fair, and several of the cottages allow you to bring your pup, which is a must for us, but unfortunately the best little cottage in our opinion did not allow dogs. Bummer. While we may or may not use this to house family, elope, or even have our wedding in the area, the place will be on our radar if for nothing else a nice getaway in the future. I'd highly recommend stopping by.

Fantastic place! My husband is opening a bakery so we're unlikely to have the time to get away any time soon and wanted to unwind and fully relax. This was just the place! We stayed in the aptly named Riversong Cottage and let the sounds and sights of the McKenzie carry our stresses away. The cottage was clean and had all the amenities needed for a cozy, comfortable stay. Also, we want to throw a very special shout-out and thanks to Jeanne, who manages the cottages. She was wonderful, too!I'm sure we will return...just not as soon as we'd like!

We had a wonderful time. The wifi and tv where down for the winter but it was absolutely beautiful and such a clean cozy warm cabin. We would definitely stay again. Maybe bring your own DVDs and player for the evenings or play games like chess, checkers or cards which they had in the cabin So many houses were burned down all around us but thankfully most remained. Devastating for those who lost their homes but still a beautiful place to go and stay. Thank you McKenzie Riverside Cottages. See you soon

Enjoyed our cabin on the river, the Water Wheel, listening to the bubbling waters and relaxing. The perfect setting with close by walks for everyone. The kitchen had essentials and coffee with a coffee grinder which made my husband extra happy.

This cottage was nice and homey. It could've used more trash cans inside the place, but we managed. There were also ants on the kitchen table. They seem to hide under the placemats. So I chose to eat elsewhere. Other then that the scenery of the river was beautiful!

Stayed in old man river cottage which is right next to the boat launch which allowed us to cool our toes in the river. All the other ones were booked but it was worth it even if it is the most basic room they have. Just a small studio with a day bed and a double but sitting on the covered patio watching and listening to nothing but the river and a few birds was so relaxing! Loved it! I think we'll be back!
