This is a lovely over 100yr old quaint smokehouse specialising in delicious salmon, with tasty condiments to go with. The staff are friendly with small samples of salmon to taste and are very receptive to questions about the history of Astoria. I had my first ever salmon burger on a brioche and it was scrumptious. I can't wait to visit again and I strongly suggest this as a place to eat while in Astoria.

The few times I've been to Astoria, I've always driven by this place. On our last trip we decided to head back to Tacoma through Astoria and we stopped. What a wonderful smokehouse. The seafood was fantastic. We had smoked oysters, scallops and salmon which I cooked into a seafood pasta. We also had the bagel and lox as a snack for our drive. This was probably the best smoked salmon and seafood, I've had, ever! I'm glad you can order on line, because Tacoma is a bit of drive.

Wonderful salmon products, from sealed (chilled) smoked or brined (lox) salmon to canned products.You can also dine in - they serve fantastic lox on bagel, salmon burger and New England Clam Chowder.Very friendly service.

Hungry? The Salmon Burger at Josephson’s is a solid choice. The burger is fried to order, always hot and fresh. They’ve just added new condiments and I’m so impressed! Fresh cucumbers, pickle spears, and the pickled onions & cucumbers are a perfect accompaniment (a pleasant balance of pickling spice, warm and comforting but NOT spicy hot, it was great!) Small interior dining area may not be ideal but I was able to maneuver moms walker into the corner. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Please make a point to stop in…and their chowder is one of the best in the area!

Must stop! The smoke in the salmon is amazing. Not too much, just right. We had the lox bagel and sat inside. The staff is awesome too! 🙌 We loved the smoked salmon so much we bought smoked scallops and cod to-go. I can’t wait for our next trip to Astoria to visit again!

Excellent beer selection and very chill bive. This place is of the main strip so a lot quieter. The customer service is amazing and you can bring your own food and just buy the beers or wine there and enjoy the rest of the evening. They have sports on TVs, pool table, Nintendo WII console, and tables you can sit and enjoy your food and brews. I highly recommend this location.

The salmon lox bagel was incredible, with a bunch of options in lox flavors. The chowdah (I'm from New England. I have expectations...} was just 'ok'... Until the salmon was added on top, which made it really really good. So get the chowder w/salmon, but not just the chowder.Very friendly staff. Walked out with quite a bit of really really good smoked salmon.

If you like lox...this place provides an authentic experience in a historic setting. Check it out! Seating inside is limited to 2 tiny tables so be prepared to venture out to the picnic tables or take your smoked salmon to go. I loved it that they ask if you want onions and capers in advance since I'm not an onion fan. Grab some salmon jerkey to go as well!

We haven't tried the various vanned offerings (which looks great by the way), but have enjoyed several of their smoked salmon offerings. Everything we have tried is great. Most recently we tried maple and something or other smoked salmon and also their spicy and sweet smoked salmon. Both were very good, but I think I preferred the spicy and sweet as it was a little drier and I prefer my smoked meats on the dry side.

Fantastic smokehouse, nice staff. Excellent selection. The wine smoked salmon is incredible. The lunches are a must, the salmon lox bagel (only pictured half but you get a whole bagel) is so delicious and the clam chowder is out of this world

Great smoked fish! Prices are very comparable with other smoke houses in the area. Staff is friendly and helpful with choosing product by letting you sample and asking questions about your taste preferences. Personally, the smoked tuna is killer, and the salmon jerky is highly addictive!

Highly recommend for top of the line smoked fish and an intimate lunch experience. After picking up some canned smoked goods, we had a delicious cream cheese and lox bagel with some of the BEST chowder in town. Great conversation and service as well!Looking forward to returning. Thank you!

For the price, especially, this place is just ok. I was surprised to find that my smoked albacore loin was very dry (so much so that I threw away 70% of it), and the smoked salmon was inconsistent from style to style and even from package to package. Some were overly dry and salty while others were decently similar to lox as I know it. The packages we froze (because we were told that was ok) were only frozen for about a month but were like jerky when we thawed them.

My family can't visit Astoria without a visit to Josephson's Smokehouse. My wife likes the clam chowder and I'm a fan of the bagels and lox. We moved away from Oregon for 20 years and talked about Josephson's while we lived elsewhere, and made it a point to return as soon as we moved back. Do yourself a favor and stop in for lunch. Check out the fun gift shop while you're there.

The best selection of smoked fish along the whole Oregon coastline from Hold Beach to Astoria is found right here, at Josephson's. The prices are no more than you would pay at the supermarket, and the selection and service are superior.

Love the food, just wish it was a tad less salty. Also the prices could be a little more affordable, but it is a luxury. I wish they had a buy so much get something, or a frequent visitor card. I wonder if they would teach classes ... ?

Oh my goodness. Best smoked salmon I have ever had. The taste is immaculate, life changing really. The staff was friendly and the chowder smelled delicious ( will have to give it a try next time I stop in!!) I will definitely be a repeat customer!

I stopped in to get a birthday gift for my dad, he loves smoked fish. The selection was surprising and so tasty! I tried the salmon selections and fell in love with the wine-basil salmon. The staff was personable and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

Josephson's was so good! Such an awesome hole-in-the-wall type of place, the guy and gal serving and cashing people out were so kind and personable! Their salmon burger was absolutely delectable, with a crunchy crust but succulent inside. Absolutely to die for! My fiance got a bagel and lox that they said was the best that they've had in years, and while it wasn't my thing, they definitely enjoyed it. Josephson's was one of the best parts of our trip!

Delicious and unassuming.Perfect little gift shop with two small tables in the back where you can enjoy the intimate setting.They have 3 things on the menu- and they make them all amazingly.If you are in town during the day, I hands down recommend this place.

Always stop there for lunch on our way down the Oregon Coast. Great clam chowder ! Unfortunately they were having internet problems so didn't get the amount of canned seafood we wanted.. otherwise would have been 6 stars.

Excellent quality and selection of smoked fish, a must stop for people who love seafood. The lunch area is pretty decent too, serving clam chowder, bagels with smoked fish as well as salad.
