First off, when you first walk in, there's the local authors section! Way to support locals! I love it!. Great selection of books reasonably priced, alot of fun novelties, this was Saturday 2/10/24, the woman working that day,she was amazing! Her customer service went far and above and her friendly attitude and upbeat personality really set the scene for a great visit to the store, and the coffee was fantastic! , wife and I purchased a few books as well :)Thank you and keep up the good work :)

One of the best bookstores on the Oregon Coast! I love the collection here, well laid out and so cozy. The coffee is wonderful and the staff is always helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this stop - don't be in a rush!

I pop in here randomly. They have a very wide selection of reading materials. The person working is always very friendly and ready to help you. Great place to bring your book friends! I was here this most recent time with my Mom. She was helping a friend find a book. We figured this was the perfect place to meet. And they found several books in the topic they were seeking on that day. Definitely enjoy visiting here.

Cool store with coffee. Good prices on books wide selection, Def current info on Astoria and its history. The ceiling painted by local folks adds a really nice touch.

Store had a great selection of books and gifts however, the employees were being extremely loud and so unprofessional that it made it very hard to really take out time to browse the store. My wife and I opted to leave and go elsewhere.

Fun little book store crammed full of interesting books and other bits and bobs. Good espresso, too. At least lately, they've been featuring lots of LGBTQIA books, which I appreciate. I only wish they had some overstuffed chairs scattered around so I could hang out all day (but I get why they don't).

Cute little book shop. They seem to lean more towards vintage/older books rather than new/contemporary fiction. They also have a little Coffee bar here.

Bookstore is nice, coffee is great, staff so friendly that their extended visit/Christmas gift exchange with friends delayed my essential espresso needs, and was so loud it threatened to wake up the homeless guy sleeping in 50% of the two chairs available.Thanks for your comment. This post relates to a visit around Christmas 2017. It is a 4 star review, one star withheld because I waited so long. I visit many bookstores. This is a nice one, but marred by the wait and noise.

Nice selection of books. Definitely something for all reading tastes. Shopkeeper able to keep up a cellphone conversation the whole time I was in the store and even when ringing me up at the register.

I love Godfather’s Books. I used to live up the street as a kid and my mom used to work there before we moved to Washington. I love the atmosphere of a local bookstore, their drinks are always super yummy and I love the workers. As a kid my favorite thing to do was hang out with Charlie and some of the locals that were always getting drinks while my mom worked. As a kid I loved the children’s book section and smelling all the incense and now as an adult I can appreciate everything else inside. Thanks for the great memories Charlie! I can’t wait to go back for another cup of coffee!

I stopped in here on my way through Astoria to pick out a new book and I was very impressed with the huge selection of books! I could never go bored in a place like that. Also the gal who was working was super welcoming and helpful. Definitely my new favorite bookstore!

There aren't very many bookstores anywhere, anymore, but this is a good one. I like it. It's not huge, & I guess it's not even big. It's not small, either. I'd say it's in the smaller side of medium-sized. It's small-town pop bookstore, & by that I mean that they have popular, new fiction & non-fiction books as well as a few classics & intriguingly eclectic stuff. There are exploration guides, maps, natural history books along with how-to, history, science, philosophy, language, Expect the unexpected. You might even get up the nerve to dive into a piece of writing that you never suspected to exist. Really nice, calm atmosphere, good people, a few snacks and coffee, tea, & soda.... Incense & incense holders, funny and/or informative little pamphlets, & I don't know what-all. Charlie keeps a selection of the best-selling local novels, stories, & other literature. Some makes you laugh. Some makes you cry. These emotions are real, & they are healthy & normal. Some of the books are funny because the author meant them to be; a few are funny because he (or she, they?) didn't. (◠‿◕)Since Godfather's is centrally-located in Astoria's fascinating historic downtown, you'll meet some interesting characters. For real! And all of the coolest shops are within a few footsteps!

This location is great. There is a big selection and some unique finds with smells of nag champa and coffee in the air. The folks at the coffee bar were having a lively and entertaining debate and the coffee was pretty good. This store is right near the pier and is in the area of many niche shops in beautiful Astoria.

This was the first place I went into on my first trip to Astoria Saturday afternoon. The exterior was charming and when I walked in, I was instantly excited to look through the books and other fun items for sale. After driving from Portland and enjoying a coffee I desperately had to use the restroom. Noticing the lady at the register was busy I quickly looked for a bathroom. After not being able to find one, I politely asked after she finished with a customer if the store had a restroom otherwise I was going to walk elsewhere then come back. She rudely replied 'I'm helping other customers' then shook her head and turned away to start helping a new customer in line. I waited off to the side until she finished helping the customer then she told me she'd get the key for me. When I walked away, she preceded to talk to the next customer about me when I was within ear distance claiming she hates when she is interrupted and what is wrong with people like me now a day/I have no manners. She continued on laughing with the customer and saying I should have gone down the street to the sushi bar. I left as soon as I was down using the restroom. I felt unwelcomed and couldn't bear to stay after her attitude! Not a great start to my trip to Astoria. Not sure if I'll go back anytime soon if she is working...

My granddaughter and I had a delightful time browsing through the volumes of books in this book store. There was also a nice selection of coffees and teas. The owner was very helpful and we also enjoyed being greeted by Bella, his sweet dog.

It’s nice to get coffee and browse their limited selection of books, However...When the only other customers are a couple of homeless locals arguing over the best cheap beer to drink 30 years ago.. it’s difficult to endure the ignorant ambiance long enough to find anything worth purchasing.Coffee was alright.

Great service, knowledgable staff. Large selection of new & used books. Coffee & treats. You can find Tarot cards, local authors and a sale section. Off street parking. Easy to locate. A must see for tourists. All our guests go back there when visiting. Think Portland's Powells Book store only smaller.

My husband went in to buy us a cup of coffee / tea, and the woman behind the counter was very rude. There is another bookstore down the street, Lucy’s, which gets more consistent positive reviews. Better experience. I would not recommend Godfathers’s. They seem to begrudge you for being a customer.

Fabulous bookstore with wide and eclectic stock of works in all categories. Wonderful and deep American and international lit section. Super-fine art books, too!
