So stoked to find this cute hidden gem while walking along the piers. Quite a extended list of fry flavors, dipping sauces, texture of fries was perfection and the honey ice cream was mouthwatering!Kid-friendliness: Lots of fun flavors, kind and thoughtful staff and plenty of seating at cute picnic tables out of the sun.

Have you ever attempted to support a local business only to be met with rudeness and hostility? It's a real shame because the shop is conveniently located within walking distance from my home. However, it has become quite evident that they do not take kindly to certain people. Initially, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but on my last visit, I realized that their behavior was simply unacceptable.During my last visit, I walked into the shop with a smile and greeted the owner behind the counter. However, when I made my way to a freezer chest on the back wall (the freezer chest was not cordoned off), I unknowingly entered their kitchen space. It was an honest mistake, and I didn't touch anything except for the front door and the counter when paying. Despite my apologies, it was evident that I had upset the owner immensely.I will never return to that shop again. It's obvious they don't need or want my business, given the seasonal tourism in the area and the lack of competition for an ice cream shop in Astoria. Furthermore, I have purchased five different flavors over the years, and only the last one was good. Their scoops are also expensive for their size and not worth the stress. The other review said it best it was "memorably regrettable."

Are you craving something sweet and special? Go to the “Frite & Scoop” it’s a super cute little spot for a treat, ice cream and fries are the specialty. They offer both small scoops or regular size and double. The fries also come in 3 sizes. The eating area has a great view but there’s no access outside. Definitely a great place to stop

Wow, what an amazing place! Warm, friendly and polite staff. I tried earl grey ice cream for the first time (London fog), it was such a pleasant experience. Would highly recommend this place!

Had to come back because husband was craving fries with garlic oil and Belgium Sauce. Ended up with fries and phenomenal pineapple sorbet that was vegan! Amazing service.

They claim to sell Belgian-style fries. Far from true!My family and I, being native Belgians who relocated to beautiful Oregon quite some time ago, we miss our native fries dearly and are drawn to statements like Frite & Scoop's.Heavily overpriced and not worth it!We've gone and tried the fries now several times to really give it a chance, but always leave disappointed.

They make their own ice cream! Tried the chef’s favorite and it didn’t disappoint. Despite the winds outside, it was still a must stop after lunch. They have a seating area with bar stools inside and picnic tables inside a larger space with heating towers. Always a treat! Recommended when in the area.

We enjoyed the original flavors at this place. I think the flavors are rotated or changed often so I won’t review them here. But the ice cream quality felt good, not overly sugary nor fatty, and the atmosphere was great. We specially liked the outdoorsy patio next to the store. It was plenty big for families with kids and the roof keeps everyone under the shade if hot outside or out of the rain if cold outside. We will be back for sure. Hope they hang in there and are in the area for generations to come.

This place is amazing. Staff is super friendly. They have indoor and outdoor covered seating on the water. Ice cream is homemade and so good. My wife and I got two orders, one being half a scoop of the zoomies and the other being hokey pokey. The other order we got was the strawberry Oreo and molten chocolate. flavors were very well balanced and have a ton of flavor. We also got a small order of fries to try them. The fries are so addicting! Everything is very good. We will definitely be back and highly recommend.Update: this place never disappoints. This place is definitely the best ice cream in town and some of the best I’ve ever had. If your in town I really recommend stopping by. We got the chiefs choice, hokey pokey, and key lime pie.

Enjoyed the Hokey Pokey ice cream in a gluten free sugar cone. At this visit both gluten free sugar cones and gluten free cake cones were available. The ice cream had a creamy mild toffee flavor. Cold water was available inside which was a nice touch after the rich dessert.

There’s truly no better combination of flavors than the sweetness of chocolate ice cream and the saltiness of perfectly crispy fries. Growing up in the 90s meant many a trip to Wendy’s for fries and a frosty. Now imagine that, but 100x better. Good ice cream, but the no samples policy is really lame. There was a flavor that sounded good but also was unusual. I don't mind paying 4.50 for a small scoop of ice cream, but with unusual flavor pairings Id like to sample it before I potentially waste that money on a flavor that doesn't suit my taste buds. Id understand a one sample policy, but zero samples is a bit odd.

Every flavor of ice cream is great! We love the Hokey Pokey! The french fries are heavenly. Get every single dipping sauce that you are interested in. The Creamy Basil still makes my heart race. Go buy a jar of Pickle dipping sauce to take home, or a pint of your favorite ice cream!

I love French fries and I think that the best ones I have ever had were the twice fried ones in Belgium. These come really, really close to those. Crispy outside, soft and creamy inside. Love!!!

A trip to Astoria is not complete without a visit to Frite & Scoop!!!🤩☺🌟 ( And today's visit left us quite satisfied as usual 😛).Hokey Pokey is still our favorite of the many unique, house made flavors, but our group of 10+ family members sampled several of the ice cream flavors, and none disappointed. The frites were also as wonderful as always!😍Our service today was 2nd to none!😁👍🌟. The owner even came out to turn on a propane heater for us and to deliver our hot and tasty fries!Great job you guys!👍😄👏 Our next trip to Frite & Scoop can't come soon enough.

What a delight this place is. Run by a friendly husband and wife, they churn out delicious and interesting ice cream (my favs were earl gray and lemon curd with graham cracker) as well as the best french fries I've ever had. They offer an impressive array of inventive fry sauces. And the pup cups were a big hit with the all four dogs who were with me. Social distanced covered outdoor seating available.

Cannot say enough positive things about this little shop. Their custard flavors are amazing, there is definitely something for everyone. The employees were wonderful and so kind and playful with my young kids. We live south of Portland and there were times (before kids) that we would drive an hour and a half just for thier custard. It's the best I have had in the Northwest!

Fantastic spot to grab a snack along the river! Ice cream is smooth, creamy (especially the custard flavors), with a fun mix of flavors. The fries are crispy to perfection but still soft on the inside. I got the garlic fries, and the seasoning makes it even better.
