Honestly, the Food is good. But the attitude of the "Owner's Daughter" was very rude and abrasive. She was cold and unwelcoming when she took my order and she was very abrasive when I asked for ketchup and she informed me it was "IN THE BAG!" (2 packets...) 😂If it was not for my daughter being so hungry and waiting in the car for me, I would have just declined the order after the way she talked to me. It is ok. This is a democracy. I know better now and will vote with my dollars at a more welcome establishment in Astoria. This is the first and last time at this place. And it was honestly the first time I came across a rude person in Astoria after visiting my whole life. Good luck to the owner.

I got to Custard King just as they opened and had their special chicken burger... let me tell you, it was a 6 napkin messy, utterly delicious experience!! The chicken was juicy and well seasoned, the havarti was smoothly melted, and the pesto aioli was so flavorful! The accompanying fries were hot and perfectly crispy and I loved the dipping sauce as well. The chocolate chip espresso frozen custard shake was the perfect treat to complete this meal!! I'll definitely be back!

The employee who served us was very friendly and quick. The frozen custard we got was delicious and a good amount for the price. The hot food was mid grade, it wasn't anything amazing but if my kids are hungry for a quick bite while we are in Astoria we will eat here again. I'd give the frozen treats 5/5 and the food a 3.5/5. The location is a fun little outdoor stop when it's not pouring rain ☔😁Parking: They have a free one way parking lot that can be hard to get in and out of but there is also plenty of street parking around the corner on busy days.Kid-friendliness: Lots of kid friendly options!

Small fast-food restaurant opens at noon when I was there in May. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A walk order window only with some outdoor seating. A variety of fast food. Burgers, chowder, fish & chips, kids' meals. Custard, of course, since they are the King. They have a lot of toppings, shakes, cones, and cups. I noticed it as I drove into town. There was a line, so I knew it must be popular, and it seems to be the case. It is right on Highway 101 at the sidewalk, quite noisy for sure, street parking. I took my very tasty burger and fries across the street and enjoyed along the waterfront. $13.00 for a cheese burger and fries, they were good.

Have been driving past this place for years now- and I have always wanted to try it!And well, I am glad I did! They are very reasonably priced and good portions/quality!They have lots of fun topping options for the custard as well (kind of what you would expect from a frozen yogurt place). Plus they have burgers and other options other than just custard. We will be adding this stop into our family beach trips route for future trips to come! 10/10 would recommend especially if you’ve never have had custard!

The burger and fries are great! Have tried the Bacon Cheeseburger and Mushroom Havarti Burger. Gluten free hamburger buns are available and all burgers automatically come with fries.I will note that the picnic space is cute in the evening with the patio lights, but during the afternoon there is little to no shade. The seating is outdoors near a loud busy street. The Restrooms are no longer available and the public one in the Nordic Park across the street is usually unavailable. While it is good to know these things in advance to plan accordingly or order to go - it would not stop a return visit.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available.

#1 Best burger in Astoria? Pretty much the tops!I've tried a lot in the area and I gotta say this is worth the stop. In the same realm would be Coastal Smash, Public Coast Brewing, and Fort George on a good day.You know it's good when you crave it regularly, and I gladly make the drive out from Seaside ✌️

Hadn't eaten at Custard King in 40+ years as I haven't lived in Astoria since way back then. This is not the Custard King of my youth, but it's better than it was the last time we stopped by some years ago. That version has a very limited menu and aloof employees so we skipped eating there.Stopped by today to check it out again. Glad we did.The only negative I have is I asked for no onion on my fish burger and it came with onion on it. I'm not allergic, and I do like them, but they don't like me very much. So, I took it off and ate the sandwich.Anyway, it was one of the best fish sandwiches I've ever had. Great fries and fry sauce as well. Friendly staff, too. My wife's chicken strips were freshly made and really good as well.I will definitely go back.

I'm not sure if I am just too much of a custard connoisseur but this place really did not impress me all that much. We spent the afternoon walking around Astoria window-shopping and saw this place on Google so we decided to give it a shot.We visited mid-afternoon and there was no line. Their menu shows a wide variety of fried treats and hamburgers, which all sounded delicious. I decided to go with my usual however which is a vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles. This is were they lose the most points in my book. The sprinkles they use are those little spherical ones that are way harder than the longer ones you typically see on ice cream and pastries. They are very hard and difficult to eat. Sprinkles fans will know what I am talking about. This place seems to be an Astoria institution and it can be found in a cool little building right on Commercial Street. For these reason alone, it is worth a visit. Just don't get the sprinkles..

One of the best burgers ever I've had. Husband got the Bacon Cheeseburger (pictured), and I got the Black and Blue burger (cajun seasoning, bacon, and blue cheese). Both VERY good. Only open between 12 noon and 6 or 7 depending on the day. Luckily we were second in line, but the line started forming before it even opened. Definitely recommended. We don't usually pass this way through Astoria on way back from coast, we might start making this the new route.

Fish tacos with house slaw and a vanilla shake with malt was PERFECT! Best place to eat real food in Astoria. Super friendly staff, not right by the water but still good seating and view. If it's not busy you can park in the lot of the store next door.My quick Astoria visit itinerary is: Astoria Column, Custard King, then the ship wreck on the beach. From there go south to Ecola park and Cannon Beach.Parking: If it's not busy you can park in the lot of the store next door.

This is exactly my favorite type of place. Old school walkup ambience with fantastic food and friendly service.I had the Bacon Cheese with grilled onions. Wife had a fish taco, and the kids had fish and chips. Side of tots. All excellent. Fast service to our picnic table in the parking lot. Fish taco was a little on the small side but my wife wasn't super hungry so she was perfectly pleased with it. If you have a big appetite, take this into consideration.

Awesome food and atmosphere. Very friendly staff. I went there for the famous custard but also ended up getting a King burger and some chowder. The burger was cooked perfectly and the chowder was the best I’ve had on the coast. Would definitely recommend

Fish and chips were very delicious! Enjoyed both sauces. There was no bitterness nor smell from these fried food items, which means you guys change your frying oil. Keep up the good work. Will be back for more.

Overall very good. King burger is huge and juicy, very tasty. Clam chowder was great. Ice cream is decent, they call it custard, not sure what that means but it tastes like a good vanilla and they have lots of toppings. Overall a great place to try.

I have noticed long lines at Custard King, but never stopped until recently. They feature a vanilla custard which seems a lot like soft serve ice cream. You can get different toppings but vanilla is the only flavor of custard offered. They offer one off street parking spot and outdoor seating, but there street parking nearby. Not sure why one would opt for fish and chips here, when the Bowpicker is just a block over.
