After checking the city out for an upcoming middle school field trip and hiking through the immersive old growth of the Cathedral Tree Trail, I shared a wonderful TLT (Tempeh Lettuce Tomato) with my soul mate at this great spot below Fort George Brewery. Lots of veggie and vegan options, baked goods and made to order sandos and burritos- along with whole loaf bread to-go.Our sandwich was perfectly crisp, filled with savory tempeh bacon, sliced tomatoes, greens and avocado. A dainty yet effective side-salad and mini pickle added value and a bit of flourish. Decaf double oat milk latte for the ride home...Make a stop here, find the non-disposable napkins, real silverware and eclectic magazines for purchase as proof that someone here has vision.

Great local bakery and coffee shop. The freshly baked pastries were tasty and so were the breakfast entrées we ordered. The staff was great as well.

Ordered a tempeh reuben and it was excellent! Reasonably priced, tasty, and filling. The atmosphere is great inside and the pastries and breads all look great. They even offer little towels instead of napkins which and make sure to compost everything which I don’t think I’ve ever seen at a cafe. I’ve been a little disappointed with the food around the coast here but I’m really glad I stopped here on my way out!

I feel mixed about this bakery. My husband and I had come here about a year ago (2023) and had a great experience. The over all ambiance and food was great and service was nothing special, but we felt welcomed. This time was different.. the line to order was a mess, I’m pretty sure we “cut in front” of a couple because no one knew where to go. Then, our food was all cold. (Quiche, croissant and cinnamon roll) all items tasted great, but it was hard to get past the temperature.. we weren’t given an option to have them warmed and didn’t think to ask, as most places would do this automatically.. I had to repeat my drink order, an iced vanilla latte, twice.. and I received a regular latte. Coffee is coffee so I drank it. My husband ordered an Italian soda which was flat. We come to the area a couple times a year and I was hoping this would be a frequented spot but this last time left a lot to be desired :(

Super cool little bakery in Astoria. The food was delicious although the eggs/toast/potatoes took about 20 minutes to get out to me. It wasn't a big deal though - the coffee was *CHEFS KISS* and we sour cream coffee cake was moist and decadent but not overly sweet.Great atmosphere too! Such a fun little breakfast place and we'll definitely visit again when we're back in town!they have vegan options also which is so nice for a small town bakery.

Staycation at its finest. You live in a place where people work for years to save enough money to visit and it's in your own backyard. What a nice experience in Astoria where you literally feel like you're a part of that Astoria and not a tourist. Wander the streets, find a bakery with apple coffee cake and a good cup of French press and you're off to the races. Wake up with seals, barking outside your window and ocean vessels. Cruising east and west. Beautiful.

Every time we are in Astoria or Seaside we go to the Blue Scorcher for breakfast. The vegan tempeh reuben is delicious. Also, their fresh baked breads and treats are amazing. We had a white bean rosemary soup this visit that was also delicious. Vegan and vegetarian items are clearly marked on the menu. Overall, it's a great experience every time!Vegetarian options: Vegan and vegetarian options are clearly labeled.

Such a cute cafe! As soon as you walk in you can smell the pastries, smells like heaven. The pastries are wonderful, their breakfast sandwich had a great spicy mayo, and the latte I had was perfect. The staff are so nice and welcome you with a smile. It's quaint and cozy and even has a few tables to sit at outsides. So glad I found Blue Scorcher!

A favorite bakery spot in Astoria. Love the gluten free Sour Cream Coffee Cake. This is a popular item that is sometimes sold out by the end of the day. If this happens, I try to get a slice of the Orange Juice Loaf. Large windows offer great natural lighting and a view of the Columbia river.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available.

This is a very popular place and it is clear why. The food is fresh, the baked goods are very good, and the service is friendly and efficient. It was nice to see a varied group of people who genuinely seem to enjoy working together, and that affection and joy was reflected throughout the rest of the cafe. It was warm and comfortable, the grilled cheese I got was simply delicious, my husband's breakfast burrito was So. Good, and the coffee was solid. I wish I were a local, this would be my favorite haunt. I recommend sitting at the little bar along the front that looks out onto the street, perfect for watching all of the dogs walking about.Vegetarian options: Seemed to be mostly vegetarian, less vegan optionsDietary restrictions: Gluten-free available, but there may be some cross-contamination with other foodParking: Plenty of free street parkingKid-friendliness: Lots of seating and varied menu, even for picky eaters

We took a one week trip in the pacific north west, staying one night in each town. This was the BEST breakfast I had the whole trip. I had the vegan breakfast sandwich adding avocado and tempeh sausage with a latte. My husband had the breakfast burrito. It was a Sunday morning and pretty busy, but the staff was very polite and worked as fast as they could. They notified customers of short staffing and estimated wait times for the food. I highly recommend to everyone!

Vegetarian cafe that had delicious breakfast options. My daughter had the Scorcher granola, my husband had the scramble and I had the simple two eggs and toast breakfast. Portions were larger than I expected. The toast was fantastic - full of whole grains. The seasoning was just right and the bed of mix greens the scramble and eggs were served on was so refreshing. The coffee was also smooth and aromatic. The staff was the icing on the experience - super friendly, patient and helpful.

A very welcoming and friendly cafe. Fresh pastries made daily and gluten free bread (baked fresh each Sunday) available for their menu items and for purchase ($10.50 currently for a frozen, generous sized, sliced loaf)All are welcome! I love their window sign:We may all have come on different ships, but we're in the same boat!Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and several vegan options of pastries as well as the cafe menu items.Dietary restrictions: Plenty of gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut free options

The food and coffee is all very well made and delicious. It’s a bit pricey, but not too bad. The pastries are absolutely to die for. I got the baby babka, and it was so fluffy and moist, absolutely wonderful. Service is great, employees are sweet and helpful. Only thing was that it was pretty busy and there was a line, so heads up!Dietary restrictions: There are gluten-free options, and it looks to be completely vegetarian. I went for breakfast, and there wasn’t a single item with meat in it in the entire menu!

Damn near the best breakfast I’ve ever had. We were passing through on our way south and decided that, after 4 weeks of camping, we needed a good breakfast cooked by someone else. This was stunning, AND had great coffee to boot. I highly recommend!

If you’re looking for artisanal pastries (the berry coffee cake and chocolate croissant were my favorite) and bread, this is your place. The cardamom honey latte is a must try.

Blue Scorcher almost got five stars from me. But there were three bits that kept it from being the top experience.+ Creative vegetarian sandwich option in the tempeh Reuben. From the aesthetics of the pickled red cabbage to the in-store baked rye bread, this sandwich is almost perfect. The tempeh, while well seasoned, was cut into large chunks. It takes a lot to make tempeh palatable and keeping large pieces in a dish isn’t it. If it were sliced thinly, the sandwich would be *chef’s kiss*.+ The sour cream coffee cake was another inventive surprise. Moist cake with a superb balance of cinnamon and fresh blueberries. We wanted more, for sure.+House black coffee was good. Cut the dessert well. The hot Chai, however, a bit watered down.+Dog-friendly patio!- The order taker was friendly at first but when I didn’t give a large tip for my over $60 order (for taking my counter service order, my you), I got the cold shoulder from then on. There were no directions to where the utensils were, no directions to the complimentary water, nothing. Astoria is a town that on a Saturday is filled with visitors. We’re not regulars. A few courtesy notices for where everything is (it wasn’t obvious) go a long way.

I had the 16oz Chai latte and a pastry which were both very tasty! This is a great spot for a family bakery/cafe. It fits the home-like feel of Astoria.

This little gem is modern with a hippy vibe, known for its bakery (which is outstanding) its scratch kitchen is perfect for breakfast/brunch and serves until 2pm. I highly recommend the Huevos Scorcheros with a mod by adding their delicious homemade tortillas and avocado if it's in season.Otherwise I can recommend everything from their breakfast sandwiches to their granola. Note it is counter service and they have no sight line from the register to the water refill station, half the tables or the bus tub so expect light but extra touch points as a customer when dining in on weekends.

Man, oh man, this place has some good stuff. I had the berry bunt cake and everything bagel with cream cheese. I've never had a muffin, so moist, it just melts in your mouth. The bagel was absolutely astonishing, just a perfect texture and mouth feel. Got a foccia loaf to go had to try it in the car and ended up eating the whole thing ot was SO good. My only complaint is I didn't come here sooner 😍
