John Boy's is a great little store in Alsea to stop at if you are driving through on your way to the coast. They have an outstanding selection of craft beers and ciders, the cooler is always stocked full of cold brews. They also offer a variety of fishing tackle is fishing is your thing.

Don't underestimate "The Mercantile". There's a pretty good chance you're going to find what you're looking for.Locally owned and operated. Sufficient parking spaces. Easy access right there on the side of the road in the middle of town.They have regular food, they have fast, food. They have a nice selection of beverages both alcoholic and soft drinks. A small hot deli with made-there pizza.They have a good selection of hardware, with items ranging from toilet and faucet fixing, to nuts and bolts, to electrical and painting. Fishing gear, camp fire wood and ice. The gas is station across the street and has propane.

Normally I have nothing but rave reviews for John Boy's however yesterday I was sadly disappointed. We had to go to the valley and wanted to pick up some dinner from the hot deli case. I called ahead as it was going to be a large order and it was just before 5 I wanted to make sure everything would be hot and ready. I was amazed and disappointed when I was told that they turn off the fryer at 4pm, that there was nothing in the case and that they don't do dinner. When we lived in Alsea we were able to dinner from the deli case all the time.Too bad this is no longer true.

Friendly people, clean restrooms huge variety of hot and cold snacks... If you can't find it here, you probably didn't really need it because they have everything from food and drinks to clothes, tools and hardware.
