Got a beautiful cat from here about a week ago and absolutely adore her! They took great care of her, and even gave her a rabies shot right before adopting! Adopt animals people, it's worth it!!!

Only open four hours in the day. You would think with full capacity that you would be open early and at least 8 hours. Can’t adopt dogs if you can’t get to them. These poor dogs are getting euthanized left and right!! Be available and BE OPEN! Every second open is a chance for them.. NO Stars

I loved my time here trying to find my first dog. My dog, once named Nickle now Diego, was the first dog I picked and made an instant connection. The Shelter paid for all of his medical bills and even for his neutering!

Your staff went above and beyond to help me. I found a dog that was very lost but sweet and I didn’t know what to do so I took him here. They let me know it’s not alright to bring dogs after they close (which I totally understand, I just was worried about letting this dog run loose since he was as found running towards a busy street and I can’t take care of him myself!). Matt, and the other team members worked overtime in order to help this dog and I really appreciate it. I’m so sorry to have made you guys stay late at work, but you went above and beyond and I’m so very grateful. They have excellent team members here that really seem to care about helping pets. Thank you again.

Tulsa Animal Welfare is now a no-kill shelter as of at least 4 years ago and is run like a rescue organization. They care about you as a prospective adopter. They will take the time to match pet parents with the new forever family member. They are compassionate and all staff work together as a team.

What kind of hours are 2pm to 6 pm for a business?? Then once you open you still won’t answer the phones or you have to make an appointment to help a stray dog seek shelter. That’s crazy!! Need better hours and more resources. This is why people let go of strays out north on a daily basis. Fix your system

We adopted Maisy AKA Casper, she is the most loving furbaby we could have adopted. She has been setting in nicely in our home.she loves her big fenced in yard to run and play in she also like to sit and lay in bed with us to watch TV. She loves her new mom and dad also her new grandma. Her personality is slow starting to show and it has only been two weeks with us. She loves riding in the car or truck when we take her out. Thank you for letting us adopt this beautiful girl. She is a very welcoming gift to us

I went in there to adopt a Rottweiler on Friday. They refused to let me have him. Said he was no longer adoptable because he attacked a staff member. But I could come back on Sunday. Guess what. They let someone else adopt him on Saturday. There excuse was they have Rott experience. I've had Rottweilers for 40 years. I have one at home right now. I will go anywhere but here. They are picking and choosing who to let have what. I guess you have to know someone that works there.

Adopted the sweet boi Chucky. Tulsa animal welfare hooked us up with necessities for him which was very nice and they were all really loving to him. If you guys at the shelter see this, he’s had a great first day! He’s all nice and squeaky clean and Sleeping soundly on the couch with his new toy now :) thanks guys!

When it comes to the staff they were VERY HELPFUL & POLITE with me & my son. And really helped us.Yes it's extremely loud but it's due to so many dogs & puppies being there. They're like kids no matter what the staff do they'll always be loud. So can't complain about the noise level or the animals in there always barking. The effort they do to take care of all animals is appreciated.

Xbox aka Xus now is the black dog to the left when I went to get her I was so upset cause it’s hard to walk into a place with so many babies needing homes. I almost couldn’t pick one to help. Now I realize the people working there are very strong and the best. They are first responders to these animals and they try to help them. Xus is part of are family we have saved two dogs now and love them to death. They will always have a home. The picture of her when she was a baby was when we first got to bring her home she loved the yard and loved to flop around after she got use to the house. She hid for the longest and then she was a wild girl….Thanks to the shelter for helping her we got to have her.

Had a stray dog in neighborhood. Tried calling over and over again and no answer. Then took the dog to the shelter, only to be told they couldn’t take it without an appointment, which is very difficult to make when they will not answer the phone.

For the humongous number of larger dogs the Tulsa area experiences that have been neglected by their owners and the budget/funding the agency has been given, thank God for the wonderful volunteers and staff at TAW.as they are the Godsend for these poor pups.

Nice ladies work there. They are doing free adoptions now. If you want an animal go get it. I just got a cat.

We are thankful that a call to Animal Control resulted in a prompt visit to our neighbors regarding their pit bull, who had escaped and chased our grandchildren. Thankfully the grands were quick to get away by the grace of God. Hoping the neighbors get rid of this dog fast. But we were very grateful for your quick response.

I have visited 4 times in the last 2 weeks and I have observed these folks doing an excellent job at caring for the dogs. Even being understaffed they consistently have folks going through and cleaning up the kennels. Everyone is super nice and helpful. You can tell they really care about what they do. All the workers deserve a raise and some praise for a job well done!

Adopted my 2 kids Layla and Sadie from here and they are the best well behaved dogs I have had and they fit my family perfectly. The ladies and gentlemen that work here are very nice and very friendly with taking the animals out so you can play with them and are very patient with you if you want to take more than one out. I would take every dog home with me if I could it just tears me apart to see them have to go thru what they go thru.

I adopted my 5 month old, lab mix puppy from here 8 days ago; and I honestly don't think I could have picked a better companion. They made the adoption process easy, and they got everything taken care of for my puppy before I took her home for a very affordable price. The front desk ladies were very polite and kind despite their busy atmosphere. Before going to a breeder, please consider a shelter first, there were so many great animals, and I'm so lucky to have one of them as my own. Thank you CTAW for all that you do for these animals, and helping me find my new companion.

We’ve reported multiple aggressive stray dogs, and nothing gets done. We’ve called, and it goes straight to voicemail. And we’ve used the online portal. Tickets aren’t checked for days and the problems never get solved.

So our dog got attacked by 3 pitbull dogs yesterday and we tried for hours to go to numerous vets and they kept changing up front costs or just flat out said they couldn't help us as a last resort we brought him here because I thought they would just put him down and take his pain away this amazing staff not only got him patched up on antibiotics gave us most his meds there chipped and neutered him and even waived all up front costs I have a whole new out look on this place and would be happy to give back to them they way they have our baby back to us

I've been looking for a companion for months because my current dog is losing her hearing and eyesight. I don't take a decision like this lightly. I am an Army Veteran with bilateral hearing loss who lives alone, so I'm also looking for protection. I also wanted a companion to fill a silence in my home since , again, I live alone. I decided to go to the City of Tulsa Animal Welfare, and I found the perfect dog. Milkshake, a 15 week old puppy. I was set to pick up Milkshake at 4pm after she was fixed today 09 23 2023. I had put the adopted sign up and everything.I then get told by the front desk rep that she is under Arf possession, and I could NOT adopt her. The rep couldn't tell me what arf ...just arf. I was mortified. Hurt. Now I'm Angry. It turns out, according to the front desk rep at Tulsa Animal Welfare, who today conveniently had more info, Milkshake went to Arf in Phoenix Arizona. So this organization got a dog for pennies to sell for hundreds in Arizona. Yes, that is exactly what happened. They claim you pay hundreds for fixing and vetting the Animal.Plot twist ....Milkshake was fixed before she left at tax payer expense, and that was confirmed by the City of Tulsa Animal Welfare rep who sympathized with the situation. Yes, the same front desk rep, confirmed she was fixed and picked up before they opened today. Yesterday, she couldn't tell me who to contact to maybe get this dog. Now Milkshake is on her way to Arizona before I could do anything. I have been calling local Arfs since yesterday.I'm mortified. Sad.. and hurt.Questions remain. How much of a kickback is City of Tulsa Welfare getting? How is this legal and going on every day?How is it legal to essentially broker dogs? I even asked that front desk rep the same question and her reply was "I don't know."With my veterans discount , I was going to adopt Milkshake for under 20 dollars. Now, she's going to be sold for hundreds under false pretenses out of state. How .... how is this legal? The link below is to the location I went to adopt Milkshake.

We adopted this little jewel at TAW a couple of weeks ago. She had been treated for mange & worms and we were sent home with meds which we continued. She developed kennel cough that day. Doing great now. She has been the sweetest, smartest little thing from day one. She is already potty trained and well on her way to leading like a pro on a leash. We couldn’t love her more. She’s a perfect fit. Her name was Thelma but we changed it to Daisy. Her hair is growing in nicely and she gets along great with the grandkids and cat! Thank you TAW!

I inquired via online chat about the adoption requirements since I am looking for a companion for my cat, Oliver. I am a travel nurse and do not have an OK license but wanted to adopt. It states that an OK license is a requirement for adoption. Rather than going to the shelter and wasting everyone's time, I was hopeful to get an answer via this method. Guess that was too much to ask.

I work at an oil plant S&R, and I was on my lift with a heavy load and I heard a noise. It sounded like a baby crying, stopped the lift and rushed to find someone help me raise the ramp, she helped me raise it, she started pushing the automatic button, I reached in there and grabbed two kittens.Bottom of the story I had know idea what to do with these lil’ guys. I called multiple places and I called one place and told me to call animal welfare. I don’t have a place for these guys but we always deserve a second chance in life, I hope they make it. This was good and friendly service. I was comfortable, and I know these little guys are gonna be okay. Thank you.

Until they are no-kill, I can't rate this kill shelter higher. Don't take animals there, even if you're trying to help. In most cases, it's better to leave the animal where you found it. Otherwise, you're exposing that animal to many illnesses and increasing it's chances of being euthanized. At best, the animal your bringing in is causing another animal to be killed for space to make room for that animal.Last I checked, they will accept Lost and Found flyer types so it's better to house the animal in your place until the owner is found or you can rehome a found animal. Post to PawBoost or Nextdoor or Facebook groups. If you can't care for your animal, then it's your job to rehome it rather than increase its chances of death at a kill shelter. I am sick of my tax dollars going to this system that allows for the exploitation and oppressions of animals. This is coming from someone who has adopted from and fostered from TAW.

Not only did it take half an hour for them to answer, they lied about sending someone to check out the dog that was severely abused & beat by my neighbor. I have a recording & evidence of the abuse yet & when I called again to make sure they were coming they said they were on their way, waited hours & never came. This dog is probably dead or severely injured yet still in need of help. Extremely upset at y’all.

I found a stray pup and brought it back to my house. I called to see if they could help in any way and they told me I could bring the dog in a week from now between 2-3 pm if I want to schedule an appointment. I said I couldn’t keep the dog here for that long and the lady responded ā€œthen take it back where you found it and let it loose.ā€ These people clearly don’t care about the well being of animals. What a joke.
