We had the entire place to ourselves mid week in Late January! A one night stop over. Great paved 1.5 mile walking path. Three rv areas; otter creek camp area farther away from the boaters. They have miles of hiking/mountain bike ( technical) trails! Bath/shower houses are ok. The showers are ok . Quarters . Kinda weak spray from the fixed shower head. But it is warm enough even in january!Restrooms: Adequate but shower kinda weak flow! But heated even in january.Dog-friendliness: Lots of area to walk the petsPicnic area: Lots of covered pavillions and picnic tables

This state park is very well kept. As a single mom of three I felt safe here. The restrooms were also well kept and the staff at the office were very friendly. My campsite had a grill, bonfire pit and a covered picnic table. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous and pictures don't do justice. If you're thinking about camping, this is a wonderful place!

Visited July 8th, 2023 for a day hike. Most hiking trails were not well marked or maintained. The few we found, the trail ended a short distance from the trail head. Finally discovered the trail head on the east area, unfortunately also found a huge red ant hill and poison ivy so we didn't go much further.

Beautiful park & super kind staff. Lots to do. Plenty of trails, fishing, swimming, disc golf, beautiful sunrise & sunset watching, plenty of wildlife, lots to explore, etc. We camped in the Otter Creek campground & I cannot recommend it enough! We loved this park & definitely recommend. Dog friendly, keep them on a leash. Clean facilities. The showers are not free, if you did not come prepared with quarters there is a change machine directly outside of the showers.

Very clean park, well taken care of. Our only issue is that the bathrooms/showers are both in the RV parks. RVs already have bathrooms and showers. It’s the tent campers that need them but you have to walk a long ways either direction to get to a bathroom. Not very helpful at night or when you have kids. Also, you have to pay for showers. It’s not much- .50/3 minutes- but still, you’re paying to use the park, should we pay for showers? The hiking trail was beautiful but not very well marked. We started on one track hoping to loop around and end at our van. We ended up at a road and had a 20 minute walk to where we were parked. It was a bummer bc we thought we were on a trail that would take us to the top of the mountain.

Oklahoma really does have some amazing state parks!!! Great Plains State Park is on the shores of Tom Steed Reservoir. It is beautiful, with plenty of RV and Tent Camping sites. The park itself is very well maintained and the staff is super nice!! We went in the fall, so too cold to swim...but it looks like they have a nice little beach. The hiking trails are great...with the beautiful scenery that you can expect in SW Oklahoma.

We really enjoyed this beautiful state park and Mountain Shade campground! Our campsite had beautiful yellow and red roses in full bloom. Reservations were easy to make, visitor center staff and camp hosts were very nice. Loved hiking in the nearby Wichita Mountains Wildlife Reserve and seeing the local wildlife. Looking forward to our next visit.

This was our first time here. It's very beautiful.. some campsites are too close together but that is typical unfortunately. I think we were at site T15 which ended up being a handicap spot which i did not realize.. side walk goes right through your camp i guess thats for the wheelchair access. It rained most of the time.

This was so much fun and completely new experience. We found a lot of the selenite crystals very easily. If in area I consider it a must stop. Fun for adults and kids

This is a giant waste of a unique natural area for OK. A really cool area with mountains similar to the Wichita Mtns yet the state is letting it go. Brutal roads, signage melting off the metal, one ranger who has to leave his phone number on the door so they don’t have regular hours. Trails are a mess and unmarked. Trails also don’t utilize the mountains. This could be a really cool area but our state is hoarding 8 billion dollars instead of funding our parks. Campsites here are nice but need updated. Trails need to be maintained and marked. Maps here are unreadable like other state park maps. This one is atrocious. New trails onto the rocks need to be blazed and utilize the natural beauty here. This state park should be #3 after Beavers Bend and Robbers Cave but instead looks like an abandoned rec area.

We stayed 4 nights at this beautiful state park. When we first showed up and was setting up camp the camp host came by and greeted us and answered all our questions. There is so much fun stuff to do here. Family ages are from 6 years old to us adults and everyone enjoyed this park. We swam at the swimming area and it was very well kept up with cleaning. Only thing was you have to pay in quarters to take a shower. We dont use our rv shower need more room to move. But 75 cents gives you 4 1/2 minutes which was surprisingly enough time.

Delilah (the park manager) is doing a great job with this park. It was clean and well manicured, and she was very helpful in giving us great suggestions of places to go and see in the area. We would like to see the park add more 50-amp full hookup sites because it only has a handful of them. PS, If you plan to go hiking, watch out for rattle snakes.

This park has the most beautiful wildflowers I've seen. We visited May 20 to 23. The campgrounds were super clean and packed!

This is a very nice quite and very comfortable camping area with lots of camping sites, TX boat launch, restrooms walking trails and picnic areas. At my time of visit the place was clean and beautiful. Very nice for weekend camping or day or two camping. Roads leading to the state park is also very scenic and beautiful. Not lots of shops around it. So better pack things and bring it to avoid trips to witchita falls which is about 30 mins from here. Will definitely come again for a day trip.

Lake is a bit low but the kids still had fun playing in the sand. They're now charging $8 just for a day use parking permit, that can be done online, and yes they do check parked cars regularly.

The park was a great getaway during these difficult times because you could still do activities outdoors while still maintaining social distance from everyone else!

A beautiful, well laid out campsite to relax and enjoy time with family. Go to sleep with the sound of waves in the background, wake up to the view across the water, what more could you ask for... We enjoyed a relaxing time even though it rained while we set up camp and cooked supper. Had a good time riding bike around the park. The children also enjoyed the playground. Really appreciated the clean restrooms!

The restroom facilities at this state park are soooo clean and well maintained! I have never been to a state park before with such clean restrooms and showers. You won’t have much to complain about if you choose to camp here. Although it’s a small park the people are very friendly and helpful, the grounds are very clean and there are plenty of places to swim. We will definitely be back! Thank you Oklahoma and park staff!!!

This was actually our third option of a place to camp on our trip to the Wichita mountains but it should have been our first! After not being able to stay at one of the campgrounds and leaving another because of how dirty it was we ended up here. Our campsite (tent) was nice, we had a nice path to the bathrooms which even tho they were older were clean, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! We spent two nights here and while there hiked one of the trails near our campsite and spent time at the swimming area. We will definitely stay here again and recommend this park this others!
