Free to Live is an incredible animal sanctuary devoted to providing loving and compassionate care to the pets in their program. They prioritize the wellbeing of their pets and work hard to improve the lives of animals in their community. If you have the time and resources to engage with them through volunteering, fostering, donating, or adopting, I wholeheartedly recommend it. This is a great group of humans doing important work.

Had a great day volunteering with CarMax cares. Love that they take in strays and abandoned pets and are a no kill shelter. Check them out if you are interested in adopting one! #carmaxcares

Animal lovers doing their best to make sure every critter that comes to them gets the best care and ensures every adoption goes to the right home! They do great work here and I have been sending pictures of their dogs and cats to everyone I know who needs a new furry friend who would treat them right!

Stay away from this place, there no different then any other loser rescue, animal help place, turning away injured animals on the regular, take your business elsewhere, stop helping them treat animals horribly people, me by myself do more for animals that actually need care then all these adoption/mills, none of them actually care about helping, it's so sad, how do you turn away injured animals daily.they run a con that's all. Do your homework people,

Wonderful place and friendly staff! I asked to tour this place and they were more than happy and accommodating to show me everything. Any stray would be happy here and they are very organized and caring towards all there animals. Thanks for sharing with me how things are ran at a Sanctuary. I can’t wait to start on my own some day!

We went and took our family to try and rescue a dog. Went out and spent 2 hours walking the whole place and looking at all the dogs. We found 2 we loved and we’re super good with our kids. We then filed out an app and waited for an email or call. 5 days later we finally got a call for them to tell us they can’t adopt one out to us because our household wasn’t calm enough with our 3 kids, even though they hadn’t inspected our home like they had asked to do in their app. We have another rescue dog that loves all the love he gets from my kids. I’ve talked to around 30 other people who either have also tried to adopt or are affiliated with other rescues and they all say they don’t really want to adopt them out. The lady I talked to also said they run a non kill shelter so they can live their whole lives out there and be ok but I can’t imagine that’s the goal. Those 2 dogs really missed out on a great home, we have since went to another shelter and found a beautiful little girl who deserved a home. Too bad these people don’t think all their dogs deserve homes. Very very sad. Luckily Bella doesn’t discriminate on people for having kids and actually want to find their dogs good homes! I feel sorry for those animals out there

The first no kill animal sanctuary/rescue I knew of. They have been here for decades taking care of dogs and cats. Founded by a wonderful couple that have since passed but this amazing legacy lives on.

They are great, and they don’t euthanize animals if you ever have any extra money or want to make a charitable donation this is the best place.

I called but they said they weren't taking any more animals. Luckily I found someone to take the animals.

The staff was very hostile, nearly made it feel like my fiancè & i "weren't worthy enough" to own one of the animals, even though I worked for a shelter very similar to this one. We appreciate the morality check, but all of my pets are rescues. The animals were very well taken care of however! But we did not get to choose which dogs to look at, he just wandered us around. Customer service is very much the fault here.

I apologize the first post, was a mistake on my phone. I have only had a positive experience with this facility.

They do a lot of good in Oklahoma & I would not want all the 4-legged sweet babies they help to not have them there to advocate for forever loving homes. Many in their care have slim to no chance of being adopted but they still get the love & care they need. Please donate if you can. 💜💜💜

Amazing, beautiful place where the babies are loved. I just lost my Sawyer to diabetes. I got him when he was 4. He has been the love of my life. He lived there for 2 years before I got him. He died at 13. He was the happiest cat I ever met. Adopt an adult cat. You will get a kick butt roommate, not a baby. Best friend of my life. He would've been killed most other places. Fur baby for life.

Have only had interactions with them over the phone but they have always been wonderful and have given great advice and information needed for resources. Unfortunately they are physically located in Guthrie. It says Edmond because that's where their PO Box is located.

I debated for years about committing to getting another after cat and when I knew I was ready, I wanted to adopt from an animal rescue. After researching online, I discovered Free to Live. I called and set up a time to meet with Kaycee. She walked me through the process of filling out the paperwork prior to meeting a cat; they are very protective of their animals. There is a feline house and I was pleasantly surprised to find how clean it appeared and smelled. After our cat chose us, we left him there to complete the application to adopt. A couple of days later—we came in on Saturday, so it would be Monday before a decision would be made—I received a call that our application to adopt had been approved. The staff was caring and made the process so easy. There’s an $80 adoption fee and a contract you must follow, but it is reasonable. I love that the cats have all their shots, are spayed/neutered, and are microchipped. They give you their vet records and tell you when they need their next round of shots. If there are any problems, you can give them a call. Kaycee even gave me her personal cell in case I had any concerns. I was even invited to join their Facebook alumi page! It’s a little out of the way, and the dirt roads aren’t in the best of condition (don’t go within a few days after it rains), but it is worth the drive.

Wonderful place! Please visit them, find a new family memeber, donate, or volunteer. Free to Live will enhance your life! 😁 My daughter's best friend came from Free to Live and we will be forever grateful.

For the past two years, everyone in my family has called Free To Live. Every time they call, they are "at capacity" I sympathize with shelters in some circumstances. However, not once in the two years we've called have they been accepting felines. Not to mention, they are not typically polite over the phone. I heard it was a wonderful organization but I have come to disagree.

They give second chances to animals, what's not to love about that. The facilities seemed adequate for the animals, but did not get s full tour of the place during my visit. They went above and beyond to find a secure place for my friend who adopted his dog.

Please support! We adopted a dog years ago. He was the sweetest pup. If you buy items through Amazon, you can order on Amazon Smile and a percentage of you total purchase is donated to Free to Live! ❤

I came across two strays, a mom and a pup at my office a few months ago. After exhausting all the efforts we could, I put a notice on Facebook to see if any rescues could try to catch them. Within a day or so, both dogs had been caught. When I found them, they were infested with fleas and ticks, bleeding from the bites. Skin and bones from not eating. There was what they were concerned was a tumor on the momma dog. Fortunately, it was not, just a large wound from being hit some how. I've been out to Free to Live on several occasions to follow up with these two dog's progress. They went from being incredibly scared of people and very stand-offish to sweet, loving pups within a matter of days. When I've been out there, they never hesitated to let me look around, they showed me around the facility and explained some of their procedures. They even have a "disabled" unit where dogs with disabilities can live out their lives even though most wouldn't consider them "adoptable". They aminals get play time, socialization time, toys, treats, are fed and watered. Given that Free to Live relies strictly on donations, what they are doing for these animals is wonderful. No animal goes in or out of there without being fully vetted and checked out and they are treated, regardless of their condition. If more people had hearts like the volunteers and employees at this sanctuary, the world would be a much better place,

Called to find out they only take animals that "they" pick up off the street. Will not take in anyone's animals that for whatever reasons can't take care of anymore, or take homeless animals in if you take them.

Unbelievable rude! First of all if you only show animals until 3 then maybe you should put that on your website in bold lettering instead of hidden at the very bottom so I don't waste my time driving all the way out there when it clearly says you close at 5. Second the minute I walked through the door the lady was so rude. Didnt say "hi" or anything just "what do you need" and then proceeded to tell me they stopped showing animals at 3. They acted like we were a big inconvienience to them. I expected more from these people .

This is the wrong address. It goes to a nice old man's house 40 minutes away from the actual location. It is not in Edmond, but in Guthrie. The address to free to live is : 9150 S Western Ave, Guthrie, OK 73044
