What a neat place! Our tour guides were so friendly, and very knowledgeable. There is so much history in the building, you could spend all day in here watching videos and touching relics. We appreciate the free maps of Oklahoma and Route 66. The gift shop has some very well selected items, and unique souvenirs. Well worth the small fee. Have a bottled soda while you're there, they are cold and delicious, I'm saving my bottle as another souvenir. Highly recommended.

If you love history this place is amazing! Era of the 1930's and during World War 2 and the efforts by the residents of Chandler to save and preserve this amazing historical site. Our tour guide was Dee, she is a walking history book indeed and a big sweetie pie. You have to see this amazing Museum and watch the amazing historical videos they have. There are also refreshments avilable.

The Chandler Armory building in Chandler OK. an Art Deco military building which now houses the Route 66 Interpretive Center, a museum devoted to understanding the construction and history of Route 66 The structure is apparently notable for having the only brick outhouse in Oklahoma, complete with original French fixture.[2] It was built of local red sandstone by the Work progress administration between 1935 and 1937 as a home for Battery F, Second Battalion of the 160th Field Artillery of the Oklahoma National Guard, 45th Infantry division, and after vacation by the military in 1971 was vacant until becoming the home of the museum in 2007.[3] The building was added to the national Registry of historical places in 1992.

I did not plan a stop for the Route 66 Interpretive Center, but I'm so GLAD I did!!! I had about an hour to spare, but I believe YOU could spend 3 or 4 hours if you watched all of the films that the Route 66 Interpretive Center has on offer, and leave a HAPPY CAMPER!!! Like Me You may also spend a LOT of Money in their SHOP for some of the best Route 66 Souvenirs along the way!!!

Wonderful tour guides. The building is simply beautiful. Glad it was restored. They have antique car seats and beds from old hotels along route 66. At these were video documentaries, short clips. 1 is about 20 mins in the theater seats. Maps and info for route 66 and Oklahoma. Very informational. Plan to be here at least 2 hours if not more if you want to take it all in.

We held a large event (150ish people) in their ballroom. It was wonderful! The people who work here are so helpful and kind. The space is clean and well maintained. The kitchen is HUGE. The entire experience was great. The rest of the building is very interesting and the tour guides are quite knowledgeable

Madison gave us a great tour of the facility and then we looked around on our own. An amazing building in it's own right, with a very nice collection of memorabilia related to America's Route 66.

I wanted to learn more about Route 66. I had to wait for a tour. The tour was about the architecture and history of the armory. While somewhat interesting, it was not the reason for my visit. The Route 66 part of the building did not hold my attention, the videos were too long and interpretive displays were quick to look at.

This is the one chance an average person gets to explore a WPA armory. 20" thick walls and all very well preserved and restored.Great place to have out and cool off on a summer day and check out the movies they have while relaxing either in their beds or movie seating. While traveling through the museum look up and down, there is a map of the county on the floor that's huge!In back is what looks to have been redone as an old ballroom complete with parachute light diffuser, well done folks!Did I mention route 66 gift shop? They have one and it is well stocked with anything you might want to remember your trip.

It's not bad, but it's not worth paying to see. It adds nothing that you won't see a thousand times elsewhere on different parts of Route 66. And if you just look at the pictures online, well, you've about seen the place already. We were hoping to find the story of Chandler's involvement with Route 66. Instead, we found a disjointed collection of memorabilia (and thanks to veterans? No disrespect to veterans, I am one; but what's the connection?) This museum lacks a coherent vision. It's hardly worth the stop, and definitely not worth paying to get in. It doesn't seem to have a reason to exist, other than to give well-meaning volunteers a place to spend their philanthropic energy.

Plan for at least 2 hours to absorb all that is here. Standing ovation to the volunteers who saved this ex-armory & funded an incredible display. Sit on 1930 Ford seats, move to 1945 Jeep hard-rock seats, the try a replica motel bed from the 50s while in each instance you watch video from each era. Time zooms by: the Mustang seats are pretty good-- if you're a Route 66 traveller. If you're a tourist, spend 20 minutes, miss the history, and then shop in one of the best souvenir shops on the Route. Either way, Chandler will welcome you. Worth the stop.

This is a great idea, more a sharing of Route 66 experiences via short videos than static displays. And the building really is the star of the show, with an incredible renovation. They are justifiably very proud of it. Really nice gift shop also.

My husband and I utilized Route 66 for our wedding ceremony and reception. It is a little bit out of the way but it was definitely well worth it for the great price we got, the amount of time they let us have the venue for, and for the history of the venue. We had around 150 guests and there was plenty of space for all! Even though we split the room in half (half for seating for the ceremony and the other half tables for the reception). The staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us the venue for four days which was very nice because we had plenty of time to set up! The canopy they have set up is beautiful and made a great light feature over the "dance floor". The kitchen was a great size too! Which made it easy to store beverages and the cocktail hour snacks for the reception. It is a big venue though so consider that when you are thinking about decorations. Thankfully I had a great decorator and everything came together BEAUTIFULLY! My husband and I would recommend Route 66 to anyone who is looking for a great venue at a great price!
