Our kids were ecstatic to pan for gems and stones in the water. The joy from "mining" was worth the price alone, but the playground is also a great time killer for parents to relax while the kids play. The blacksmith also helped the kids make nail swords and was very good at interacting with the kids.

Let's get the facts straight.This is a scam and I'll tell you why...They advertise a Motherlode/10 lb package for $34.99 which includes a large druzy amethyst. Then there's the Mega Strike/20 lb for $62.99 which includes a huge druzy amethyst and a large Crystal point.So you can pay $28 more for about 10lbs more which includes the huge amethyst & lg. Crystal.My pictures clearly show the difference between a $63 bag and a $35 bag.The $63 bag (left side) contained what I was told is a huge druzy amethyst (top left) and the large Crystal is in the bag with the other gems not of significant size compared to the other gems and stones.But as you can see the $35 bags (right) also have a pretty good size rock that does look like an amethyst and I would say it is large as advertised.Here's where the scam part comes in, $28 more is paid for what seems to be the same amount of gems and stones as a $35 bag but you are supposed to get a huge amethyst & large crystal as advertised. I received a large rock about the same size as the ones in the $35 bags but nothing close to huge.I was not going to bring this to anyone's attention until it was time to get the wax hands and this is where I was greeted by someone as rude as a bear. I asked her when would be a good time to come back because she seemed very flustered.She snapped at me and basically told me it could take as long as it takes.So now I'm like wait what? I paid almost $100 for some gemstones that I didn't get and now you're being rude when I'm trying to get the waxed hands. The owner lied in his reply that I did not want to wait for wax hands. I did not want to continue dealing with a rude bear. We were reimbursed with 2bags of gems not 3. And you won't get a refund no matter how rude they are.This was on a Saturday March 16th 2024.We did come from out of state to do this activity with the children and the Beavers Bend Mining Company was a chaotic mess. From the miniature golf, to the mining, to the wax hands, Folks are traveling and spending good money to have a good time with the kids but I feel they are taking advantage of with this motherload and mega strike gemstone bags basically being the same bags but $30 more for the other.They are charging you $28 more for a Mega Strike but you will basically get the same things you got in the Motherload. BEWARE.BTW the owner was very patronizing continuing to say, yes ma'am, okay ma'am.When I brought it to his attention that I didn't think I received what was advertised, he took the large rock and said "I think any kid would love to find this rock "🙄Paid over $62 for the Mega strike and I was supposed to get a large Crystal point and a huge amethyst druzy according to the website. When I brought it to their attention that I only got one large Rock and not two they proceeded to explain to me and identify the rocks but the question is is it a big or huge rock not what kind of rock. I paid for two large rocks and I paid $63. The experience was fine until the older lady (that obviously gets irritated with ger job at the Beavers Bend mining) jumped at me when I asked her when is a good time to come back because she was Cleary busy. She was loud rude and made me feel uncomfortable so I decided to not go do the activity that she was running which was the hand wax.

Costly but good. The big raw amethyst in the bag was not as good as the photos on their website, but still it was a cool quick stop on our adventures! I won't be keeping the amethyst though. I didn't feel it was right to complain for some reason! :)Staff was amazing though, great customer service! I do recommend this stop!

We had so much fun at Beavers Bend Mining company. The kids loved their gems they got from the mining part of it, they loved climbing on the pirate ship playground, they had a blast playing putt putt golf and the older kiddo on the trip loved the dino dig. All 3 of the kiddos also loved making their wax hands. There are lots of fun things to do, a cute little gift shop and lots of little places to take pictures. Definitely recommend stopping here. It won't take more than about 3 hours tops so it won't be an all day thing but definitely lots of fun for all ages.

Great place for kids to mine for fossils, arrowheads, and gemstones. But, they also have a dino dig area and Pirate's Cove play area. Inside the gift shop, they also do wax hands. There's a petting zoo nearby.My kids enjoyed sifting for fossils and arrowheads. They give you a bag full of dirt that contains the fossils and arrowheads mixed in. The kids put them in the sifting box and dip it in the running water to get the good stuff out. They provide bags to take home their findings. The kids are guaranteed to find something good.

So much fun! My 10 year old loved this experience. The owners were so incredibly welcoming and nice!! They treated us so well, we will definitely return when we're in the area. All the bags are different so you never know what you're going to get. We did the gemstones bag and it was a perfect size for a 10 year old. Also, the owner incorporates an educational aspect to it, but keeps it fun. This is a must stop place if you're in the area.

Great atmosphere, lots of fun for everyone children and adults. Really Great Prices on Mining Rough, and all the items in the Gift Shop! Staff is super friendly, and knows all about the gems/fossils, and arrowheads you can find in the "mining rough". Can't wait to see what they will build next!

The Beavers Bend Mining Company is an interesting and fun place to visit for your entire family. When we visited we panned for both gemstones and arrowheads. There are other options available to pan for fossils too. You can also do a dino dig but we had plenty to do with the panning. Our kids loved finding their treasures in the screening bag and really loved the neat sluice they used to screen for things.Another cool thing we did was make wax molds of our kiddos hands. It was a fun process for the kids and the owners did an amazing job of explaining everything about the process to them. Our kids learned so much and had a fun time doing everything as well. The owners even offered to hang on to the molds while we finished up some shopping in town so they wouldn’t get soft in the heat.The owners and helpers were super friendly and welcoming. Our kids called it the best place ever!

Unfortunately, they are working on their Dino dig attraction, so we didn't get to do that. We did get to do the mining for gems (and such) with our toddlers. They loved it, but we thought it would be more digging instead of sifting in running water (but was still pleased with it). The pirate ship play was also very nice for our 4 year olds.

So much fun! We had way more fun than we expected to. Our son had a blast playing on the pirate ship playground. The mining river was neat. Son rode a mechanical dinosaur too which was cute. We got to speak with the owners while we were there and they told us about their plans to expand. They were set to open a mini golf course within the next couple of weeks. They also plan to move their dino dig indoors and add a second floor. We can't wait to go back next year and will definitely be making a stop at Hochatime!

I brought my boys here on a day trip. They loved it! I have a 9 and 2 year old and both had a great time. My 9 year old even told me he wants to go back. To them it was like a treasure hunt. Cute photo ops. And the dino area was a huge hit. My only wish was that they had a pricing for everything together with a little discount worked in. Instead of having to pay separately for everything.

Update: 2020 Granddaughter asked to come back. They have updated much here. A great place for kids to spend some time. Sluce for gems, ride a dinosaur, make your own tiny sword, and even explore a pirate ship.(2018)This place is great fun for the little ones. The price is a bit high at $20 for a 3lb bag of dirt but we got a lot of gem stones and fossils from our bags. We like to section out bag in three to give our granddaughter more have over time. I wish there was more educational details about mining.

My 5 year old son had fun mining. Here is what he got from the $60 bag. Dino exhibit was still under construction. Miniature-golf looked run down so we passed. Found shade behind the pirate ship, within 1 minute I was told I had to pay to stand there...lol

Wow!!! This is such a neat experience. My kids, ages 4 and 6, loved mining for fossils and gems! Clean environment and extremely friendly and helpful staff. You can tell they love what they do! Will definitely be back!

We were joking about how this is like gambling for kids lol, it was a good experience seeing the variety of gems and making some videos of doing the filtering process, we got some really big quartz piecesThis would be a really fun way to propose to someone if you put the ring in one of the gem bags 😉

Great place for the kids! It is fun AND educational. The kids get to pan for fossils and minerals. They have an interactive dinosaur museum and the little ones get to ride Fuzzy the dino! They even have a blacksmith that has the older kids "assist" him as he works. Our grandchildren LOVED this place!
