Been living in the area for about eight years and just recently stopped in to try this great diner. We’ve visited twice now and have enjoyed both visits. The food is delicious and the staff is friendly! The owner stopped by our table on both visits and asked how everything was, shared the story of the restaurant and was very friendly! Our server was great! She actually remembered us on our second visit! My wife had the Reuben sandwich and I had a burger on our first visit. She said it was the best Reuben she’s ever had!On our second visit, she tried a chili dog and I had their “hog” dog. The “Hog Dog” is a bacon wrapped dog that is deep fried and served on a great bun!!Their fries are amazing and the onion rings don’t disappoint! The best way I can describe The Stray Dog is: it is EXACTLY the kind of Route 66 diner that you HOPE to find!Great food, great people and a great atmosphere!Whether you’re a local or just passing through on Route 66, The Stray Dog should definitely be on your list!Highly recommend!(Note: there is parking behind the building so if the spaces out front are taken, just cruise around back!)

I enjoy having breakfast here with family and friends. I believe it is locally owned and the owner is so sweet and always walks around checking on the customers and helping her staff. One of their current specials (Nov. '22) is Banana Foster French Toast. I waited a whole week before coming back for some more. It is delicious!!!!6/24/23 Still coming back for the Banana Foster French Toast. 😁 Service is always wonderful and the patio was a great place to sit with the fan gently blowing the breeze our way.

Little local family owned diner. They have great daily specials. Those are usually what I choose but today we had breakfast. I had the southwest omelet. Delicious♡ Bring your pup when it's warm enough for outside seating. They usually have fresh baked options too like bread and desserts.Parking: Parking in front or back behind the building.

Love to fine good local eateries, especially when the owner/ cook likes to check on how the service/ food is.We of course picked this place because of the name, I Love Dogs! We got a Bbq/ burger, Ruben, patty melt and a BLT. The food was good, my bacon was a bit undercooked and my burger overcooked but it still had some good flavor. The fries and rings were both homemade and fanatics, rings would have been better hot.We also had to try desert after hearing what they had and the owner was the baker. We had the blueberry pie, cinnamon roll and chocolate cookie dough. They were all amazing, definitely worth all the extra calories. Absolutely worth the drive!

Absolute best diner experience I've had in OKC yet. Absolutely everything is homemade, which reminds you of back home. And the icing on top.. the service. Our waitress gave us a great rundown since it was our first time there.Dietary restrictions: Keto-friendly homemade buns

Seriously, such a fun experience! Clean tables and floors. Plesent staff! This place is wonderful. I was not expecting the bowl of "dog food"! My husband and I enjoyed a delicious lightly salty & buttery popcorn out of a dog bowl. This retro style diner is fully equipped with a bright red fire hydrant next to a large bar.The meal we both chose was the chicken El Toro burger. Phenomenal flavor it's a must trust me!

Great greasy spoon type of diner. Tasty menu items, all seemingly home made. Some might not enjoy a slightly longer wait for a table or food delivery, but it's well worth the time in my opinion.

I ordered take out recently with door dash for an order from Stray Dog Cafe & let me tell you , it did not disappoint. The ones we ordered were the rueben dog , bird dog , mac and cheese dog , and the fried bacon wrapped dog. All of them were fantastic , and the fries were great as well. I know they serve burgers and other menu items as well ! I would say these hot dogs are on the list of some of the best I've ever had , my favorite was the mac and cheese dog personally! I also noticed they offer keto bread for keto followers! We will definetly be back to try more sometime !

It's right on 39th expressway in a shopping center I've passed it so many times do I decided to stop and try it and I'm glad I did. The people were very nice, the place is kind of old looking but kept up really good and a lot of choices on the menu breakfast, lunch and dinner and plenty of dessert choices. I tried the hot dog Mac which is hot dog with chili topped with Mac n cheese and a side of sweet potato fries which was a first for me and it was pretty good I will definitely be going back.

Food was awful, they forgot my daughter’s plate, so she didn’t even get to eat with the family, but she wasn’t missing anything. Hands down THE WORST biscuits & gravy I’ve ever had! Staff was not friendly when confronted about missing meal, missing toast, husband had to ask for a glass of water 4 times before he actually got one!

Thus is a nice hot dog/hamburger Cafe. The popcorn appetizer is simply a nice touch. Reuben Dog and chili dogs were great.Waitress was polite and checked on me several times.

Locally Owned. They make a lot of their items from scratch. They serve every table popcorn. The homemade macaroni and cheese is a must! The homemade blueberry ice cream was good also. The owner came and visited our table and was readily available to anyone who wanted to say hello. Very friendly atmosphere.

Raegan and I were driving along 39th this afternoon, saw the Stray Dog, and decided to try it. Pretty darn good!I had a lunch special, hamburger steak (wrapped in bacon, mmmm) with mashed potatoes. It was good beef, cooked well done (I prefer medium well, but it was still juicy), and with some actual potato mashed potatoes. I usually would have asked for some more gravy, but there was enough. It was a very tasty meal. I got a cup of chili for a second side. It was good, but it was more of the Cincinnati-style chili that gets poured over spaghetti. It had no heat, and had a bit more ketchup or tomato paste flavor than the Texas style I like best, but it was, again, very good.Raegan had a BLT, which she had been craving, and liked it a lot.Afterward we shared some of the best chocolate pie we've had in a while.Everyone was friendly, the food was very good. It's unfortunately on the other side of town from where we live, but when we are in the area again we'll go back, there are other good looking options on the menu.

A friendly neighborhood diner with awesome breakfast and burgers. Glad to bring out-of-town friends for a late breakfast-early-lunch.The coffee with a sweet and roasted note hits the spot and since it was after 12 nn, we all in unison picked the El Toro burger (be ready for the kick from jalapeños, habaneros jack, and ghost pepper mayo) and thoroughly enjoyed it!

First time here! Arrived Saturday morning at 11am.Ailish, our server, was absolutely a delight! Susie, the owner was helpful and nice to talk with! The place was clean and pretty busy. There were several people eating on the large patio and a good amount of inside seating (booths and tables) too. The pancakes are huge, bacon was great, and 2 orders of Bethany Benedict 1/2 orders with ham. The meals were extremely filling and well worth the $$.The coffee will uncurl your hair 🤭 but I drink it strong and black too.
