I almost always get the chicken strips and they are pretty good. I personally think they are a little too expensive for what you get. Their ribs taste exactly like the ribs from United in Cherokee at twice the price, so save your money and go to United. The store is usually always clean and well maintained

I always want to enjoy the food here, but it never ceases to "whelm" me. The fried food is bland and half our meal is always cold, even when we eat in the store. I keep trying to give this place second, third, and now fourth chances, but the quality of food keeps lowering somehow.The gas is cheap though, so at least there is that.

I am new to the area and I dined at this location on 3/19. I arrived between 6:30-7. The hot case looked a little stale, and they were out of a bunch of sides. I ordered a chicken fried chicken and it showed up without gravy on top, I guess they were out of that too. I had Mac n cheese, and corn for my sides, they were barely warm. I'm not sure if the help was having a bad day or what, but you should always be on your "game". As far as the convenience store and gas pumps, this place is excellent, but alas the 'diner' part of the operation was lacking.

This is the gas station you've always heard about. That one with the good food. Every time I'm in Avard I run up to Shepherd's to fill up my gas cans. While I'm here I almost always get the catfish. They even have it available for breakfast. There is not a lot of dining options in Alva, but this place has a decent selection and all of it is good. So go ahead and get a little extra now so you don't have to turn around for seconds.

We bought the fried chicken, great price. Fresh and hot ,would I buy it again? Yup I sure will.. in a prior visit we purchased the fish.. so so good, can't wait to get the hamburgers and onion rings. Stop in not to costly and great food !! 😃 😃 😃

I ordered a BLT and potato wedges. I've never had a bad BLT so thought it would be a safe choice. The bacon was nearly burnt and greasy. The bread was over- buttered so also greasy. I'm sure there are other menu items that are delicious. Or, maybe the cook was just having an off day? But if I ever go back, I won't be ordering the BLT again. The potato wedges were great though - all 6 of them!

GOOGLE states that “Shep’s Diner” is open 24 hours…however after working ALL DAY…we drive all the way to its location to find out that the attached GAS STATION is open 24 hours, BUT Shep’s Diner…closes at 9:00pm just like every other restaurant in town. PLEASE correct this error to save other exhausted people this headache. Thanks!
