We were thrilled to find a place to have the neighbor's cat we inherited when they moved neutered. So many area vets are too busy to take new patients. The price was reasonable & Slim has his rabies shot & first vaccination for a little extra. We called on Mon. & there was actually a slot opened on Wed. We are so happy they offer this service.

When there is no place in town to help control the stray cat population except the humane society it makes it bad. Having a no kill policy PLUS picking and choosing which cats they will take results in strays cats everywhere so not sure what they want people that care about animals do?? Let the stray cats starve which is inhumane therefore the whole reason for a humane society or feed them and watch them reproduce with their own litters? That seems just as Inhumane. Not all of us have the money to catch and release. I would love to be able to fix all the ones at my house but have my own animals to take care of. Having a no kill policy yet refusing to take strays seems slightly hypocritical and makes no sense. The humane thing to do is fix them or put them down not refuse them and let them starve to death which is pretty much what all of Muskingum county is supposed to do at this point. Y’all wouldn’t have gotten the one star but it made me give one.

These folks really care for these guys. They do their best to match the right family with the right pet. I found my little guy there.

Got my dog licenses here, very friendly staff, clean and smell was at a minimum for holding that many animals. Please donate to them they get no government help, ADOPT don't shop!

Attempted to adopt a cat thats good with dogs, cats, and children, they were timely with responses and cordial. I was unfortunately denied at this time. Apparently not having my 1 year old pup neutered was one reason. Also he hasn't lived with cats I'm not sure how am I supposed to introduce him to a cats in home if I'm not able to adopt one? I even agreed to home visit if necessary. I'm not sure what more could be done..

I only adopt from a shelter, and after moving to a new city far from my previously-supported APL shelter, and the loss of my 12 year old cat, I found this shelter to be the one where I would adopt my next kitty. The staff were professional and clearly make the welfare of the animals in their care the top priority. It was a much-needed pleasant experience for me throughout the adoption process. ❤️

Sub-par customer service. I spoke to one of their employees on Tuesday and submitted an application as per their policies. Thursday they were closed. I called on Friday and no one answered their phone. Saturday they were closed and the puppy was removed from their website. No one contacted me in regards to this transaction.

Absolutely no help! But we all no who's running it there now to. We also need to fill out an application online to get approved just to visit the animals in the shelter now. So my grandson can't do what my daughter used to do growing up unless we get approval. Which I think is bogus.

We had been looking for a new dog after losing our best friend of 14 years. We wanted a small dog and they were hard to find. I found Sunshine (a Jack Russell terrier) on their website and immediately filled out an adoption application. Called them the next day to see if my application had been approved. Within two days we had an appointment for a meet and greet that went well. We walked out with a new friend and an arm load of everything we would need for a new dog! Everything from a bed to bowls to plenty of chew toys. What was really great was the affordable adoption fee. A lot less than other not for profit kennels. A great all around experience!

Is it right to be charged with animal abandonment after the facility accepts it?They put a leash on the dog and escorted us into the bldg. No explanation of procedure nor requirements for paperwork. Staff was extremely rude and unprofessional!!!!!Such conduct and false accusations should be questioned by the community and those who support it!!!!

Now randomly give out pet supplies (dog and cat food and also cat litter) throughout the community. April Gibson is doing a great job out there and actually returns phone calls!!

I volunteered for a while with my grandma until the pandemic hit, and the staff was very nice. I have never had such a good connection with an employee until then.We got a great dog, who is super cute. Very big cages, and a spot to read to cats. You can bring the dogs outside to take on a walk. I'm sad it has not reopened, because I want to start volunteering again.

Great place to get a dog or cat. Don't go shopping for a pet. These animals need to find loving homes. The staff are wonderful to work with. OR, become a volunteer. I walk dogs for exercise - for both me and the dog.

I had gone in to drop off some stray kittens and it was an absolutely horrible experience. I don't know who the woman was, but she was harassing me for bringing in 3 kittens who had messed their kennel on the drive over. She sat there and harassed me for "neglecting them." Claiming "it was cruel" and "from a professional standpoint it looks like pure neglect."She then proceeded to harass me because one of the kittens was hot. Which was understandable as we had been sitting outside in near 90 degree heat with no shade for over 5 minutes.I'm sorry but if kittens who have never been in a car before get diarrhea on a car ride what the hell am I supposed to do? Pull over on the side of the road and clean it because I just casually have stuff to do that sitting in my car.As someone with sever anxiety, this nearly sent me into a panic attack all because she wouldn't accept the fact that kittens do that while in a car.Absolutely horrible service.

They take very good care of their pets and some of the employees there are AWESOME. when i lost my puppy, that's where he ended up, they were gonna let me do a payment plan to get him back (even though shouldn't have to pay to get my own animal back) either way it goes its an awesome place and they keep it clean

My girlfriend and I went in there and adopted a cat. Paid the 70 dollar fee. We couldn’t take the cat home that do to other obligations. The next day we came in, the cat was gone. They mistakenly adopted our cat to another person. We were heart broken. We understood that accidents happen and hope that the cat went to a good home. To say the least the women who took the cat home did not want to give her back, understandably. Then the staff threw the front desk employee mike under the bus and said this wasn’t the first time that he had done this. My question is why do they have an employee or volunteer who is incompetent enough to mix up the animals. To me this is very sad and I do not doubt that the other people in the past were upset as well. I was livid to say the least. My recommendation is to relieve him of that position to prevent any other heart break. The staff refunded our money and granted us a free adoption. Other than that situation the facility is nice and the other staff were very apologetic. I doubt we will return to the humane society.

The person at the front desk explained to me that you weren't allowed to see any dogs unless you had an appt. You can't get an appt without filling out paperwork. She was not kind. Told me to go online to figure it out. How is anyone supposed to bond with a dog?

If you have a soft spot for kids or soft spot for Animals this is not the place for you. We went there just to look at the animals and we ended up leaving with a cat. They make it super easy to interact with the animals and to see what they have to offer. Initially the cost seems to be a little high but when you think about the fact that they are spayed and or neutered and they come with all of their shots the prices are actually really reasonable compared to what you would pay that a breeder or a pet shop.

I can’t say enough good things about our Animal Shelter. They put me at ease every time we come there. We’ve had both a cat and dog fixed. I’ve never had a problem. Really nice people that care about your pets.

Got my two wonderful cats from here. It’s is a great deal of fun to volunteer, and it is easy to tell the employees love their jobs and want to help 10/10 wonderful treatment to the animals. The place is always clean

One of the staff(Jessi) in particular was rude to us through the whole process. Definitely should not be working there as as she was biased against the person who tried to get a dog rescued. Funny part was went to another shelter and she had no issues. My opinion is if you arent going to be nice to the people or dogs you have no business being in that profession.Sorry to say I would never do business with them again. Feel sorry for the dogs.

I once had a dog, his name was Shaggy. He was between 12 and 14 years old and had few health problems. After a while he had ended up with a polyp in his ear. Due to his breed that would be a constant problem but I had it removed, but it came back. I cared very much about him. He would also get frequent ear infections which I attempted to address but they would keep coming back. The vet who saw him from the shelter had said we would eventually have to put him down.Eventually, we had to make the decision to put him down. I was reluctant for the longest time but I finally agreed it was time. Before we could prepare to see him off he ran away.He was found by someone from the shelter, and they did not notify us until a week later that he was found. They found him with mats in his fur as well. Which if I was in a proper state of mind and not a depressed slump, I would have called the police when they did not want to let us see our dog, nor give him back.I loved him, a lot. So when they threatened us with the humane officers and claimed that by missing two appointments that constitutes neglect. They coerced my mother into surrendering him. I was reasonably angry, and sad. They judged us for taking too long to decide to put him down. Yet they kept him alive for a couple weeks, treated him, etc until he stopped eating and called us to let us know they were going to put him down. Damned hypocrites, I will never come to this shelter again. He had separation issues, and while we were not of means he had a good life with us. I gave him a funeral that befits a friend who I spent my teens with.I was going to get him a haircut and feed him his favorite food before having him put down and cremated, but they ruined that, now I had to just have him cremated and send my mother to take him to crematorium.Director and Vice Director, I would have sued you and the shelter and I considered it, but I care too much for the animals in your care and you gave us his body instead of throwing him in a freezer after finding out the witch who found and coveted him wouldn't be able to keep him.I'm not saying to cease your support for this shelter, but to the Vice Director(who's name I couldn't be bothered to remember due to this), had said something along the lines of "just another job". I will eventually upload the death certificate as proof he was at this shelter once I get a copy from the landlord that they sent it to so he could be removed from the lease.
