On numerous occasions, I witnessed inexcusable animal cruelty inside this "luxury" grocery store. Lobsters are held captive against their will inside a small, filthy tank. At my most recent visit, I counted 20 lobsters crowded inside a 60 gal tank..., whereas lobster "experts" believe the tank should measure five times the length of the lobster as a minimum. Insufficient oxygen was evident due to faulty filtration, meaning the lobsters were suffocating. I was told by an employee that they are instructed to starve the lobsters. When I asked why, he told me it was because they don't want to clean waste from the tanks. Even so, the tank was absolutely filthy -- both inside and out-- and the water was cloudy. On every visit, I noticed cannibalized lobsters and lobsters with multiple injuries, including one lobster who was in obvious pain, continuously waving his/her injured limb overhead. If this were a tank full of kittens or puppies, there would be an angry mob outside the store demanding it be shut down. Lobsters are sentient individuals who have the ability to suffer and feel pain, much like puppies and kittens have. Possibly even more. Just because they seem different from us doesn't mean that we can dismiss their suffering and interest in living.Several GE employees have admitted that they feel the in-store lobster tanks are cruel and thus should be removed. I agree!! The sooner Giant Eagle and Giant Eagle Market District get rid of ALL of these cold-hearted torture tanks, the better!!

Surprised and disappointed that in this day and age, Market District "luxury" grocery stores still have disgustingly cruel lobster tanks! At my first visit to Market District (on Detroit Rd, Westlake, OH) there was a dead lobster in the tank and the others were cannibalizing the rotting corpse. Both the tank and water were dirty. (Dead aquatic animals left in the tank raises the ammonia and nitrates which can kill the others!) We complained... and supposedly the body was removed the next day. On a return visit a few months later, I saw that Market District has failed to stop this disturbing situation. This time, the tank was overcrowded, still dirty (if not worse), and an employee admitted they are instructed to cruelly starve the lobsters to control the poop -- which was on the floor of the tank. The tank's oxygen bubbles were not working correctly, meaning the lobsters are slowly suffocating. (I observed this after having aquatic tanks myself but this was confirmed by that employee as well.) One lobster was missing a foot and shaking their injured limb in pain. This is sickening and morally wrong!!!

Just like that, without much fanfare, Giant Eagle was out and Market Disrtict was in. But it's the same store, only better according to the people who work there. Not sure how they managed to make the store look and feel bigger but they did even though it's the same size. There's a bigger produce selection with plenty of organic choices and the meat department looks richer and better stocked. Add good service, lots of specials and reasonable prices and this district is starting to look an awful lot like Kroger.

Tried to order a couple party trays Thursday for Saturday and they said they don’t do party trays without 72 hours notice. As a former giant eagle employee I know it’s definitely 24 hours but he refused. So I hung up and called North Ridgevile giant eagle where they gladly took our order.

Supermarket that carries the normal Giant Eagle merchandise. The parking lot has plenty of parking available including handicap accessible parking. The store was clean and well stocked with aisles and merchandise clearly labeled. The selection of fresh flowers was nice, they had more available than many other stores usually have. The employees were very friendly and helpful with finding where items are located in the store. They had a great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables available. The fresh mushroom selection was nice and offered more varieties than many stores. The prices are higher than some other area stores. They have a Starbucks located inside and a good selection of pre-made meal items available.

Came here with my sister who has special needs. She was excited to try the samples during "Passport to Food Favorites" but the person working the station near the deli was on the rude side. She seemed aggrieved to be there stamping and handing out samples.It didn't not make for a fun experience. But the concept was nice.

Great fresh produce and meat selections. Love the local meat selections and Berkshire pork.Also good assortment of fresh bakery items and in store Starbucks.

Omg!! My first visit! I love it.... they have covered everything! From fresh produce, fresh flowers, sushi deli, great deli meat, fabulous cheese section, great freshly made breads & doughnuts in bakery, great olive bar, fabulous selection of wines & beers including bar that you can sit at and enjoy your favorite beverages & watch the games. Market District even has a dry cleaning dept... a sit in cafe where you can enjoy freshly made sandwiches, meals or make your own salad from their salad bar! They have a superb meat, poultry and fish section! Market District even has a pharmacy! All your culinary needs are under one roof! Shout out to Hannah, cashier who was very friendly and hospitable!#SatisfiedCustomer 💯

I place an order for cupcakes. Made sure to repeat multiple times that we wanted whipped icing not buttercream. He read the order back to me with whipped icing included. I picked up the cupcakes and they had buttercream.

Not much to say at the moment. I came for the Huntington ATM. Was not displeased. It's clearly a converted Giant Eagle trying to be more "hip" to the nature-friendly crowd. It's out of my way. Don't know that I'd visit again. No particular reason.

Very friendly staff - Heather in the floral department is a wonderful asset to this store. I've been going here for years. My only wish is they would go back to Giant Eagle but otherwise everything is great.

I quite going to the one on the west side and decided to give this one a try. So nice and clean! The gentleman at the seafood station was pleasant and gave us the exact filets we liked.Check out was a breeze with the self checkout, and we left happy shoppers! Will be back!

This market district supermarket has gotten into the loop as far as the Flashfood app is concerned. It may have been a corporate decision, but each store shows that they are willing to reduce prices drastically in order to save food from going to landfills. The upshot is, customers also benefit because they can stock up on items at half price or even less.

Since the remodel, this store has kept the pace. Very clean, nice staff, good mix of merchandise. Diet varieties covered w/multiple products. FLASHFOOD bank avail. Plenty of staff/self check out to ease your shopping experience. (Pref the new layout.)

Arrived at meat counter at 8pm. A normal grocery sign was placed on the counter, Be back soon. As I made my decisions the butcher returned at 8:04. Unfortunately it was another employee advising the counter closed at 8. I asked a manager to weigh up some meat at 8:08pm. No. Rules are rules. The meat department at Market District closes at 7:59pm weekdays. My wallet forever closed to Market District.

The catering fell through last minute for my husbands 30 Birthday, I have maybe 5 hours notice before the event. Mason in the catering department was so polite and made sure my party had plenty of food, super grateful!

I was completely shocked with how poor this store was. This was worse stocked than a regular giant eagle in any other location, and service was terrible. The market district in Strongsville runs circles around this store, and even the Medina base giant eagle is better than this store. I will never be back - it was a complete waste of time, and I had to shop elsewhere for the basics I needed.

Prices gone crazy. Workers walking around saying they can't help you ! " their fulfilling orders" ! Cashiers stand there doing nothing watching you bag your own groceries. Only two full service check outs available with long lines. Pushing for self check out ! Woman said she didn't need my card because it didn't matter with cigarettes. I pointed out the sign said 1 20 off with loyalty card. She still argued with me, till I got annoyed! And said I'll put it in just to show you ! Her face when it took off 1.20! And said well I didn't know. So I tell her then you shouldn't of stood here arguing with me that last few minutes insisting I was wrong. When she didn't even know her own job. What is this world coming too

If I could give the Starbucks a 0 star rating I would. I stood in line for 15 minutes thinking I was going to redeem my birthday drink. There was only one lady at the front and I waited in line for no reason just to be told they can’t redeem my birthday drink here. This is the worst customer service I’ve ever received because they didn’t even have anyone working there. It was slow service. You think there would be more than one person working register and helping with drinks but I had to stay in line for 15 minutes and couldn’t even get my birthday gift. Extremely disappointed in Starbucks.
