I dont know what these people do, but for 3yrs Ive tried to get them to help with the hundreds of homeless cats in town. Ive called numerous times, and they will not take a single one.

I volunteer here and see that they do great work. The staff are hardworking and do a fantastic job caring for and placing animals into their forever homes. Animals receive medical care and are altered before being placed. Adoption fees are very reasonable. Sadly, staff are very overworked, so if you are able to help by donating or volunteering, I would highly recommend that one does so. Looking for a pet, then I recommend this as a great place to do so.

Last Saturday my husband and I adopted two kittens from the Humane Society of Adams County. We were instantly in love with our baby girls. We noticed that one of them had very runny eyes. We asked about it and were told it was just an upper respiratory infection that would clear in a couple days. Well on top of the upper respiratory, for which they should have given us an antibiotic, the girls also had terrible worms. But none of that even matters compared to the fact that within less than 36 hours and $2000 worth of emergency vet bills, we found out they both had Panleukopenia and had to be put down. We’re both extremely traumatized and heartbroken by this experience. We had to put down our cat of 14 years due to lymphoma only two months ago, so add to that putting down two kittens and we’re completely grief stricken.I’m conflicted about Humane Society of Adams County in that I’m sure it’s better for strays to end up there than to die on the streets but they need to do better. Our kittens weren’t vaccinated until they were 13 weeks old, only two days before we adopted them. Why weren’t they vaccinated at 8 weeks at the latest? Plus they do all their vaccinations on-site, so they had all the supplies right there! It is so frustrating that if they had just been on top of that our baby girls would still be with us.I contacted Humane Society of Adams County immediately when I found out our kittens had Panleukopenia. Hopefully they will have their other kitties tested.

Professional and caring. Very nice staff. Awesome animals. I adopted "Savannah". She is the sweetest dog I have ever. I Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to adopt a four legged family member. 5 Stars!

Wish this place could receive 0 stars! My friend was asked to foster 4 baby kittens and was told they were completely fine. When she got home she found they were bleeding from their back sides and had maggots coming out of them! Their bottoms and privates have been literally ate away.

We adopted our cat from the shelter and he was in such good shape. He's a great addition to our family! We love Cosmo, although we renamed him Toffee. The shelter was very clean, and everyone was friendly.

We've donated and supported this humane society for years and im frankly tired of how they have treated the kitten situation and the people who tried to help. This humane society gave FALSE information and acted childishly. They are extremely disrespectful and disgraceful how they treated these kittens by not giving the proper information and the attitude they have given their fosters. I hope this place gets a change for the better.

Depending on which volunteer is there, the help and advice is very limited. When I went there to seek help and advice on to care for my cat they refused to look at her and was more or less told that since i was too poor to take her to a vet that I had no business having her and that I should take her home and put her to sleep myself. She died in agonizing pain a week later from what I can only assume to be bitten to death by fleas. This was something that could have been prevented had the lady taken one minute to look. They need to find another name besides Humane Center.

I had an AWFUL experience at this humane society. I scheduled an appointment through them to have my rabbits fixed through the rascal unit Mobil spay / neuter clinic. I was told I had to make a $25 non-refundable deposit per rabbit at the time of scheduling to hold our appointment. I asked if this went towards the cost of the surgery and they told me yes, so I thought ok no big deal. I called about 2-3 weeks prior to our surgery date to reschedule for the following month, because something came up with work and could not make the original date scheduled. The girl was very kind and said "ok no problem , thanked me for calling and told me I was rescheduled. A few weeks later, the day before my original surgery date much to my surprise, I received a phone call to confirm my appointment for the next day! I told her that I had called 2-3 weeks ago to reschedule the appointment for the following month and she sound annoyed saying "well I didn't get that message". She at that time moved my appointment for the next month. While I had her on the phone, I wanted to verify the cost of the procedures and she informed me that of the $25 deposit I had made, $15 of that was an administrative fee (per rabbit, so $30 total). I was a little upset and said I wish I would've known that when I made the appointment, I specifically asked the lady if the cost applied to the surgery cost and she didn't tell me that. She then got rude with me and told me that it was still much cheaper than other places and I was saving a lot of money. I said well I know, but we are driving an hour and half to get there so I would've liked to have all the facts before committing to coming.Anyways, I had a bad feeling the day of surgery but decided to go anyways. So I packed up the bunnies and my 3 kids and we made the hour and 1/2 drive out there arriving just before 10 am. I asked if there was anyway we could be first since we drove so far and I had my kids with me and were just waiting. They said that should be fine, they would let the rascal people know. So me and the kids left and went to the park, library, etc Around 12:30 I hadn't heard anything so I called to check where they were at with things. The lady at the shelter told me "they are on the truck, they should be waking up now and ready to go soon". So we killed some more time and after about an hour I headed back to the shelter. It's around 1:30 now and I was told the bunnies were waking up, they were waiting for them to eat and poop and then they could go. Finally around 3 I asked if there was something I could sign saying I understand the risks taking them home before they deemed them ready to go. We'd been there 5 hours already, my 3 kids were falling apart and we still had another hour and half drive home. She went on the truck to ask them, came off the truck and walked straight back into the building without saying anything to me. One of the rascal ladies came off the truck behind her and I then found out they had not even performed the surgeries yet. I was irate. I've never been so upset in my life!! The rascal lady told me that they have to eat and poop before they will put them under for the procedure. She also said that sometimes people have to come out several times before the rabbitsvare comfortable to do the required eating and potting while there. Obviously this is not even remotely an option for me and had I known I wouldn't even gone in the first place. I told her the other lady had told me they were already done and we were waiting for them to wake up. I told her I need them now and we're leaving.I am just blown away by the lack of knowledge and communication with the people running this place. It was like no one knew what was going on or was communicating with each other. They should be better informed about how the process works so they can let people know what to expect going in and they should be communicating what the costs are exactly when people call to schedule. I just wish I wouldve listened to my gut. Now I'm out $50 and lost a day wasting our time.

All the animals are treated with love and respect just like they were their own. They can always use volunteers for walking the dogs it's not a bad way to spend your lunch.

Went there to ask some questions..the vet tech was very nice and gave me her undivided attention. They need volunteers badly so I'm thinking about doing that on the weekends.
