The people here truly care about the needs of the animals & want everyone to understand including kids. We had a very positive experience with our cat adoption. We enjoyed our time here. This place was easy to find & their lobby has items to purchase for your new pet.

My husband and I adopted our puppy Charlie through Madison County Humane Society, and it was a great experience! The volunteers and workers there are so wonderful, and work hard to care for all the animals that come in their doors and find good homes for them. They are certainly a great place to adopt from! Charlie was a pup so he got all his shots and neutered as part of his adoption fee, and they provided me with his full medical history to give to his vet!

We adopted 4 yr old brothers Kitty and Gray, at a time just after we had to say goodbye to our 14 yr old husky. We needed them as much as they needed us. It's been about a month and they are doing great! All of our hearts are starting to heal. The staff was great in helping with this transition, you could tell they took good care of them when we brought them home. They have adjusted great! Thanks for the help and for bringing us together!

I went to this center after looking at pets on petfinder. I had never adopted before, even though I had pets. I had a positive experience and am very happy to have left with a wonderful cat. I was impressed with how through they were when screening whether I would be a good fit for the cat I adopted. A lot of places don't do that. They were also very thorough with the medical records and any sort of re-homing paperwork in case a pet does something you don't expect. I would highly recommend whether you are looking for a place to donate to or adopt from.

Got my 2nd dog from here! I had Peanut from age one to fourteen and a half years! Now I have this little girl. I renamed her Dutches! They said she really doesn't play with toys. They were wrong. She just loves her new toys. Another perfect match!

We had amazing experience from beginning to end. We adopted sweet Rue (formerly Cleo) in January and she is PERFECT. Employees are super sweet and answer all questions. Gave us plenty of time to decide on which kitty we bonded with and adoption was seamless. Thank you so much for our sweet little girl

Amazing place to adopt a new pet. The staff was friendly and very professional and they really care about helping you find the right pet for the right setting. I wanted a dog that would get along with cats but because I lived in an apartment they said that some of their dogs wouldn’t be ideal for my home, so they helped me find the ideal dog for me and now I have my lil cutie Gigi!

I adopted a kitten from them. They do foster-to-adopt, so you can't get pet insurance until after the pet is neutered. After you bring the pet back to be neutered, you sign a form saying that you are now completely financially responsible for the pet. This wouldn't have been a problem if the vet they used hadn't sewn her up using a running stitch or if she had been given a cone appropriate for her size. By the time I got home, the cone was off and all the stitches were ripped out. Both shelter and my vet were closed, so I had to take her to MedVet. $2,000 later and a trip to my vet twice, my kitten is happy and healthy. But I was not expecting to have to pay $2,000 because of the negligence of their veterinarian. I have contacted them. They have not offered to reimburse me whatsoever. I do not recommend adopting from this agency.

We had a great experience adopting our dog from the Madison County Humane Society. We were able to bring our other dog and spend plenty of time having them getting to know each other before making the decision to adopt. The staff were friendly and very professional. They even called about a month later to check in and make sure everything was going well. I highly recommend adopting here!

I went through the fresh start canine program they have that they partner with madison correctional institution. I love the people who work here, they are super nice and they helped me tremendously!! I now have a dog training business Paw Abiding Canines. So thank you all so much for allowing me the opportunity to attend a program like such. It gave me structure and responsibility and helped me build a healthy routine. Honestly, i can't give enough praise for how much they helped me. I mean really and they were always soooo good about dealing with whatever issues we had within the program. I will be up to volunteer!!! Love you guys, keep on fighting the good fight! ❤

I went in to meet a specific dog I saw on the website, but I couldn't adopt for several weeks due to moving. Ryan was very friendly, informative, and honest about the pup's history and personality. I went back several times over many weeks to visit my potential doggo. I believe I spoke to all the employees and most of the volunteers, all of whom were pleasant and helpful. They truly care about the animals in their shelter and want to place them in their forever homes. The adoption process itself was quick and easy. Overall a great experience.

Got my little guy there last year. The experience was easy, inexpensive, and life changing. Hobbes is happy and healthy a year and a half later, and I can’t imagine life without him. I’d highly recommend these guys.
