The main woman at the desk is extremely rude and she lies and threatened to call the cops on me over an unrelated incident after talking to my vet because she was to busy talking to a little girl who worked there to listen to me when I was telling her about the dog I was dropping off. She has absolutely no business working there. There is absolutely more to the story but this is a good enough summary.

We adopted our Louie (f/k/a Willie) on February 26th. He has been such an entertaining additional to our family! Our German Shepherd just loves him and play together until Louie falls asleep! The facility was clean and the staff was friendly and easy to work with. They truly have the animals best interest in kind when placing them into a new home. I highly recommend them!

Was very interested in a dog they had. I was called and treated very rude. I was told my dog needed all her up to date vaccines before I could adopt. Ive never adopted and only ever rescued dogs. I will not be adopting from here now. The woman on the phone was mean and nasty to me when I couldn't remember the name of my old vet from 7 years ago. I will not be talked to like that. If thats how you talk to people I can imagine your facility is just as rude to their dogs. This woman ruined my day and I just got unfortunate news from the doctor yesterday and only wanted another friend for my dog.

would like to share my experience with the Auglaize County Animal shelter this past week. Last Saturday, 6/10, we went to see about adopting a cat. The young lady who was there was very nice & helpful. She actually stayed a few minutes after the closing time for us. We went home & decided on a cat, filled out the paperwork and waited. We called on Tuesday and were told to wait 3-5 days. We called on Wednesday, the 3rd. day , and was told to wait. I asked what was taking so long, and was told she needed proof of all the shots that our other pets, two dogs, another rescued cat & a bird, had and they were waiting on the vet in Wapakoneta to verify why our dog had been taken there for care. I got upset about the demeaning behavior of Ms.Logan and ended the call. Called back a few minutes later & my wife attempted to talk with her. This woman was downright nasty to my wife, all she kept saying was “our protocol, our protocol”. My wife tried to explain she had owned two pet stores. Then things got ugly. Ms. Logan did not care & became very combative. Finally told her to find a cat elsewhere, she would not be getting a cat from them. Wow! What a comment for someplace having financial problems. BTW…, our grand-daughter went in the following day and was told about two elderly people who came in & were loud and biligerent. This all took place on the phone, not in person. My grand-daughter left with the cat the same day, no waiting, paid the 60.00, & left. My wife & I are in our 70’s with professional backgrounds and never talked to a customer in this manner. Ms. Logan is not qualified for this position. There is no doubt why ACHS is in trouble with this kind of leadership Thank You, Jim & Susan Dimond

The staff is very nice and they obviously love all of the animals there. The place isn't huge by any means, but it's clean and well organized. I think they also do a great job making sure that people who adopt pets are worthy of that pet.

Super nice and friendly staff here that helped us look for a dog. They helped us narrow down our choices pretty quickly there so that we wouldn't be falling in love with dogs that weren't the right fit.

I’ve been trying since august to find a home for my dog or a shelter to take her since I was losing my home, I called for months trying to get them to take her but they said they’d give me a call and never did. Now I’m homeless with my dog and no where to go in the middle of winter, I’ve been failed by this shelter multiple times and other counties aren’t taking in dogs out of their district….it’s very upsetting when you need help and not a single person has been helpful..this is why animals get dumped because shelters aren’t willing to take them in or offer any kind of help..very disappointed

We adopted a little yorkie and we just love her. They let us take even though she wasn't fixed yet but they set the appointment for and I took her to them and they took her to have her fixed and micro chipped. They still covered the cost and all I paid was to have a couple of puppy teeth pulled which was $10. She is a wonderful little girl and the staff was very kind to us.

This was a while ago but I thought i'd share my story here.I wanted a cat from here. Found the sweetest little cat and decided that we wanted them. We were accepted but then got told in person they didn't want us adopting because we lived in a trailer park because of all the "wild cats" that we, as actual people who live in the park, almost never see. On all papers it said that this was strictly an indoor cat, we knew that already and were planning to never let them out. Also I put on the application that I was getting a pet because I have anxiety. You want to know how to not treat someone with anxiety? Threaten them that they need to do everything perfectly or else our cat would get taken away. I don't even feel like this would be our cat to love and care for, it feels like we would just be a babysitter for it. Maybe you should put a little bit more faith into the people who want to adopt from you? I get the concern, but this was not the way to go about it.This whole ordeal has put me off from buying from any animal shelter. If I cannot feel like I actually own my precious, what is the point? Will definitely go another route and get a free one from someone else next time.

We recently adopted the sweetest, gentle giant from here. He is a very well mannered and good boy. They gave us a leash, VERY sturdy collar and a tag with their address in case he ever gets lost...they will know who he belongs to. They also took our first family picture with us and our new boy! We are very grateful to have him join our family!

I had to surrender one cat to them that I bought here because we simply couldn't afford to have two cats after cuts to pay. Get shamed because they "Don't get how." When food and litter is not the only expenses for a cat. I cannot believe the rudeness of these people (Or person) and I don't mind never adopting from them again. I can't believe you would shame someone who is broken about this and gloss over the other reasons that were given. Very bad conduct in an otherwise great looking Humane Society.Oh and I should mention both cats we got had ear mites right from the start, out of the shelter.

I adopted a small 3 y.o. dog they had named Timone who ended up being a Yorkie/Chihuahua mix once we did a DNA test on the guy. I loved the photo they posted of him on Petfinder and their description was accurate. He had originally been at the Dog Warden's and then placed at the humane society. I'm thankful that they cared for him until we found him and saw that he was a sweet wonderful dog. He is a scrappy little guy who may not be the dog who wins the dog show, but he is an original. He was there for me during a back injury and never left my side. The humane society quickly facilitated the adoption process and were very friendly on the phone and in person. He was neutered and had his vaccinations when we bought him. We had to get him chipped. The people were very honest about his bad habits-he's a runner and we continue to work on him not marking in the house. They also were very accurate about how great he is!

Had to bring in a cat for someone since they were unable to keep it. Gave them information about him and everything. They called me 4 times in 1 day harassing me saying I brought in a cat that someone had lost for 2 months when it wasn’t true... my friend has had this cat for 7 years with proof of photos saying 7 years ago. They are very rude, they will blame you for anything they can. Also I told them the cat doesn’t do well with other cats but still says he does. Very disappointed will not be going here again.. definitely would not recommend!

Adopted a kitten, came home with fleas and underweight from the worms she had. Brought her to my vet, she is all better now but common, you don’t see white worms in her litterbox? Rude staff.

Very disappointed. Was told to "look at the card" if I wanted to kno any info on the animals. She acted like she had more important things to do than speak to my family and I about adopting a furbaby. When I took interest in a chi mix, she said I had to have a fence around my house or it's a "no-go". I asked if there was a way around it because I have another dog that I rescued who is never left unattended and gets put on a lease anytime she goes out to potty. She said no and said she'd get fired for even considering it. Wouldn't even let me speak to someone else regarding it.

Shelter pets are some of the most loyal pets!!! Too bad that this place can become pricey on their animals. I also do not like the idea that if you can no longer take responsible care for your pet, they will charge you. To bring your pet to them in hopes that your beloved pet will find a good home. And this leads to strays that are not fixed to reproduce, making more strays.

We were looking at a puppy there. I am 63yrs old I have spinal stenosis and have limited mobility in my legs , we told them that I was going to use this dog for a service animal they thought that was great. They had told my wife that we would probably be the ones chosen for the pup because of this and told us to go ahead and fence our back yard which we did. The next day they advised us that they had given the pup to someone else. We were very disappointed of course , so we don't have very high regard for Auglaze County Humane Society.

Put in a application for a specific dog and it was approved and this was the third week in a row visiting this dog and specifically asked if I had to put money down on him and they said no. Well went in today to see him and they said someone put money down on the dog and he has a hold on him now. I'm very disappointed.

2 stars for the ones they save and thats it cuz they only spay/neuter animals that come from them. Angels for Animals is now permanently closed so options for cheap sterilizations are no longer in this area. WHICH BY THE WAY will cause a lot of animals to become homeless I suspect and need the Humane Society. They'll have more animals than they'll know what to do with!!!So I guess in a round about way, not sterilizing animals that dont come from them, causing fertile animals to be turned out into the street, strays mate producing more strays, more animals to be handled by them in their processes and adopted out (minus the ones that are picked up by the pound and euthanized, or hit by cars) means more money for them!! So is it just smart business then‽I'll wait.........................

We adopted a dog from here this weekend! Found it on Petfinder, they'd just spayed her before we saw her. Adopted fees were very reasonable (low, really), staff was friendly, place was clean.

We had contacted them about some kittens and that the mother was hit by a car and killed. All they told us was they wouldn't help and we were on our own. Im all about saving and rescue. Luckly we were able to trap them and they are on their way to great homes. I will never do business with the humane society.

My son surrendered my grandpuppy last week, she was too much to handle for him, so when I went in the very next day to get her the judgemental b@#$h that runs the place basically said my place wasn't good enough because I live in a 2020 parkmodel at a campground, all of my grandpuppies are very well taken care of, I put alot of money in that dog so basically she stole her from me, don't recommend at all, poor puppies who are still there

Was very rude unaccommodating and made implications over my questions on whether my dog ate any food recently. Well out party my dog in the yard the manager came out and told me to leave because Making the implication that my question was an accusation and said she would call the police.

Im a 56 yr old man who's had a dog the better part of my life. The power - tripping woman who was in charge there the other day may want to step back and re evaluate her attitude as I was just looking to give a shelter dog a good home as I have in the past.
