One of the best assets Lucas County has to help in need dogs. Providing them with shelter and the possibility of adoption. I just started volunteering recently. It is by far the best thing I have done to lift my spirits in this evermore dysfunctional world we find ourselves in. If your heart needs a lift, I strongly recommend you volunteer helping animals that can not fend for themselves. The staff there truly have passion for what they do, and can use as much help as can be given. Maybe one will touch your heart and give you some unconditional love, only a rescue doggo can.

I called in with a few questions about some concerns I had with my dog and EMILY answered and was VERY supportive with the questions and answers I had. She explained everything to the T. It’s a joy having someone not make it like your a burden when you have reasonable concerns with your pets. Again thank you again.

I have only ever owned rescues and this is the best place to go to find your new family member. More people should support these organizations in finding forever homes for pets, rather than supporting what is ultimately bad for animals and buying from breeders.

If you go to drop off a stray dog here, be prepared to be treated in a rude and accusatory manner. My husband went to drop off a stray we found last night and the staff acted as if he was lying and it was our pet or something. Yes, she was freshly bathed because in order to bring her in my house for the night, she needed a bath, she was filthy. He used our dog's collar/leash to transport her there and the staff had an accusatory remark about that too. What an odd way to treat people when they're doing the right thing.If you find a dog running around in traffic and save it, be prepared to be treated like an animal abandoner when you take it here.

I absolutely love their “Presents for Pups” event during Christmas time, and I was able to donate items for one of their long stay dogs this year! I also think that the regular low-cost microchipping and vaccine clinics they hold are awesome and such a great (and needed) thing for our community.

They are never open to take calls about loose dogs! They say to call them on their off-hours to speak to someone but option 1 is hours and option 2 is directions... There is no option to speak to anyone or leave any messages. Every time I call to report something it's after the fact and I'm told to call in the moment. HOW IF NOBODY IS THERE, EVER

Called to report abandoned dogs at what appears to be an empty & boarded up house @ 1105 Miami St in Toledo, OH. I was put on hold x2 for 20 minutes. Please go help them! They are skin and bones

Our troop had a wonderful time here learning about dogs and helping out. The kids loved filling the konks with peanut butter. There are some great dogs that need homes. They are always looking for donations aswell.

Worthless. Called multiple times during “open hours” for someone to come out and help an emancipated dog running around for DAYS. The line cuts out after saying no one is on patrol. Clearly need a new warden that actually works the stated hours.

I recently had to put my dog baby down due to cervical cancer and I still feel the pain it hurts so much watching her passing away before my eyes and I just felt so helpless,but I call the Lucas county dog warden about adoption A dog then the lady told me about the foster program and I went down there to volunteer to help a dog in need of a loving caring person and I looked through the book of fosters and came upon crispy at first I wasn't sure but when they brought him out and took me to the room to see how he does with me because he wasn't comfortable with other male's but now he is the sweetest potato bug.

My boyfriend adopted a lab pit mix a year ago. She is the sweetest dog. So yesterday we adopted a boxer pit mix. Can't believe how well they get along. First night home they slept together. When we take them for a walk they walk together. It's like a match made in heaven. We love them both so much. What a great addition to our little family.

Absolutely the worst place in the world. I highly do not recommend the staff is absolutely rude and disrespectful! I had to pay $150 to get my once was healthy dog back with kennel cough. He smelled like a decaying body when we came to pick him up! He wasn’t even with them for 24 hours! I wouldn’t trust these people with a worm let alone one of your loved animal!

What a wonderful experience for my family and I!! We went to look for our new fur baby after loosing ours 6 months ago. We met several of the dogs they had and there were things about them that didn't quite fit our family dynamic. We were ready to give up and try again on another date. Then a lady came out with Maxx!!! We didn't ask to see him but they saw our struggle and introduced him to us. He is our baby now!! Thank you so much Lucas county canine care!!! You guys are the best!!!

We're out Snout & About'n today with this charming, sweet, handsome boy Vinny who we were so lucky and blessed to be given this opportunity to volunteer for L4's incredibly, awesome event! Sure wish I could keep him and all of his other shelter friends!He's ADOPTABLE & even more importantly... Adorable! This boy is approx 2. He's a fun loving , happy go lucky, athletic, and his energy surpasses that of even my soon to be 6 son! Definitely would need a home that has plenty of room to run and play fetch as seems to be his favorite.... Along with tug of a war!He knows sit and shake! And he listens very well considering he's so excited! He is a big muscle head, incredibly strong, and super sweet!You can adopt this good fella for only the cost of a dog license as he's been blessed to have his adoption fees paid for by a sponsor (otherwise...$125!)Let me or LC4 know if your interested in meeting this well behaved, Energizer bunny!!SAVE VINNY!!🐾 🌭🐶🐩🐕‍ Thanks LC4 for this wonderful opportunity!!

We are the proud owners of Tess whom we adopted back in August. When we 1st became interested in adopting, we asked about Tess and she had chewed up the foster family’s couch, so we said we don’t want that. After several Sundays looking for that one that stoled our hearts, we asked about Tess. Other than the incident with the couch she sounded like the perfect dog and asked to see her. The moment we saw her, we new she was our baby girl. She is the best dog, fits into our family, 2 dogs and 2 cats like she was meet to be ours. Mild separation anxiety but nothing drastic. She is kind, loving, loves her toys, protective. She is ours and we are so happy and love her to death.

The people who work here seem to really care about the dogs there. We adopted our dog there and we were able to foster before officially adopting him. The made it good to make sure he was a good fit. He's a good boy.

Adopted Lily a senior year female dog to be a companion for me and my lil Male dog Lenny. Their meeting went very well. The LCCC staff members were friendly, patient, and professiona with the whole adoption process. Both pups are getting along well. Would definitely recommend adopting from this faculty. They had our dog for less than an hour. Charged $120.00. Then we had to take her to the vet and spend even more money because she caught Kennel Cough there. Not happy!

Very poorly ran. The place is extremely dirty to the point it's almost unbearable. The workers don't care and limit you to how many dogs you can see. We went to the Toledo Humane Society the next day and it was so much better. A variety of dogs, compele medical history, friendly staff, and very clean. Well worth the few extra dollars we paid for our dog.

They are really nice, this place has the cutest and most friendliest dogs because they are well taken care of. We recieved our forever pup here almost a year ago. Thinking about in the soon future coming back to get our pup a friend to play with.

I took my dog there on Monday I was having behavior issues with her, that same day ny family said we want to give her another chance. Called right away was told it would be Wednesday or Thursday before I could get her she needed current shots and to be spayed. We paid for it and called everyday to keep taps on her. The day I'm suppose to get my dog back they have no idea what I was talking about gave no info on her and said if I was the owner they would call me. To me that was unprofessional I'm wanting to know how my dog is doing don't be so quick to get off the phone be friendly and answer best to your knowledge, instead of in not sure I don't work the back, I hope never to.go threw.this again!
